View 2 Repliesfriend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have searched for some weeks now and have seen an increase in people who also found that while viewing in the Full Screen option on You Tube and/or Hulu.com that the "Press Esc to Exit Full Screen" message that appears in the center of the screen does Not fade away after a few seconds. Of course that makes Full Screen viewing unacceptable. I posed the question to the site itself and have never received a reply. One general forum said something about Unlocking certain Files (Adobe) that were found locked because of cookie handling upon installation, but as a novice that is beyond my comprehension. In any case, is anyone aware of a fix for this problem? (That message is not suppose to stay there) I am using Win XP IE8. I tried viewing using the Firefox Browser (3.5.2) and it did not help.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhello, helping a friend, he has a screen msg which is actually the background now that says he has spyware etc etc and click here to buy a solution. It took over his settings for his background screen; and it will not let us do a system restore. It is linked to a site that says teslaplus but it may be a spoof. How do we get rid of it. We can not find it in starup tab of msconfig. We can not do a system restore to previous date. We can not do a right click and get background tab.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring boot up, my friend's computer shows a screen where he has to choose which Windows installation to load. One choice is Windows, the other Windows (default). The latter is the one that works and Windows loads normally. Now as far as I can tell, he only has one version of Windows installed on his computer, so the message is a little strange.Any idea what is causing this, and how can I get rid of it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have borrowed a school computer for the summer, it runs XP. Today, when I booted it up, it displayed a blue screen with a stop message. "c0000135 <unable to locate component> winsrv was not found. I have spent the afternoon searching for a way to fix this, but all the windows help sites require you to download stuff, and since I can't get the OS to actually turn on, I obviously can't log on to a website.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a few computers at home and within the last 3 weeks or so one of them has been displaying and error message with the notorious "Blue Screen of death" as it's background. The computer is running Windows XP Home Edition with all the updates and is scanned every few days using SpyBot Search & Destroy and Adaware SE Personal. I have SpywareBlaster installed and updated daily (if there are any updates) and AVG Antivirus scans daily and it is always updated daily as well.I have not installed any new hardware on this computer nor have I installed any new software either. Just so ya know, neither has anyone else. If something is put on, or done to this computer, I know about it.
This problem has occurred about 3 times while the computer has been on and running for a few hours AND it has also happened once during the bootup and loading of the operating system. (That just happened today). What happens is this. the computer SOUNDS like it is shutting down. Or to be more specific, it sounds as if one of the cooling fans has quit, just like it sounds when the computer is shutting down. I have ruled this out by removing the case cover and visually inspecting all 3 fans, all of which were operating fine. These fans include the PSU fan, CPU fan, and the fan for the tower. That's all there is in this system.
My old computer has a blue screen problem which is intermittent, and usually as it is loading windows, however can happen anytime. It is not a heat problem as it happens as well when the puter is completely cold and started. I ran Memtest for 2 cycles and there were not memory problems showing. I cleared the CMOS and installed a new BIOS battery after that and reset the BIOS to its previous settings. I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3; Board: MSI MS-6380E 1.0; 512 Megabytes Installed Memory [DDR]; 1566 megahertz AMD Athlon XP; Maxtor Hard Drive; RADEON 8500 SERIES [Display adapter]. My screen will suddenly go into Blue screen with the message Driver_IRQL_Not_less_or equal then Stop 0X000000D1 [0X00000004, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0X82F8839C] . The Blue screen will frequently then have wide lines appear across the screen so you cant read every line. I took out my video card and reinserted it. Does anyone know the code message translation to identify the area of fault?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi bought the new game, Lord of the Rings Online. Works and installs perfectly however, because i have a weak connection sometimes an error message comes up saying you have lost connection, so i would keep trying untill i manage to get onto the game successfuly. Then i would get another problem which i am sure it is to do with my graphics card. As i am loading the game and enjoying the introduction video, my computer screen would go black and a message would appear saying 'No Signal' with the computer still running. So after seeing this message i would assume to restart the computer, there is no other way of getting it back to the desktop. I did this quite a few times maybe about 6times. After pressing the restart button for the last time
View 14 Replies View Relatedi shut down while pc was running chkdsk (yes, I now know how stupid that was). I rebooted and that brought me to the blue screen that I have not been able to get past yet. Message reads: stop:0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x83160AB0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) I was able to change setup to get it to reboot from the cd drive and used the XP Diagnostics CD to run diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics for blue screen and hard drive errors - all tests passed. (This took several hours). I then tried to reboot from hard drive and got the same blue screen again. i then put in the Windows XP startup disk and came to the recovery console. Here I get a prompt I've never seen before: 1:J:minint

This is the 2nd time this has happened. Everything starts up as per normal but once it comes to the Windows screens (desktop) i get a blue screen with the error message: So i pretty much need to restart the pc and it goes back to normal. All hardware and software has been checked time and time again. All seems to be ok. Bar the dvd drive. The dvd drive doesn't let me access it, however if i put a dvd, audio or data cd in then autoplay takes over and asks if i want to play it or whatever. But if i want to open it by double clicking or selecting open after right-clicking then it doesn't allow it. I get the error message: d: not accssible. Incorrect function.
