I have lost the timing bar on my tool bar for no apparent reason, I still have the clock etc. and the start bar. I also lost the Google toolbar, which I re-installed. I have tried all methods to re-stall the timing bar without success.
The connection was reset , or it has timed out I've tried everything it said to do except this one, how do i do it; it says if your computer or network is protect by a firewall or proxy, make sure that firefox is permitted to access the web.
I started this thread many weeks ago and was being helped but had hardware problems and commitments and I have to start again.I have up to date XP2 in a clean system. The problem - unimportant but annoying, is that my screensaver, whichever I use, unpredictably resets to one minute no matter what delay time I set. When it does this the screensaver does not run. I admit to sloppy attention to detail - I can't remember when this started but it was probably more than a year ago. A quick fix would be nice but now I have a bit of time to experiment.
At least once a week I have a problem with the clock not having the right time. Is there a way to resolve the problem with the clock? I am using Windows XP Professional. SP2
My wallpaper has disappeared even though it appears under display properities-themes. Under the desktop tab my wallpaper is set correctly. When I try to change the theme from modified theme to windows classic the change is not accepted. My screensaver was the picture slideshow and is now windows xp moves across the screen as the screensaver. When I try to change it back the change is not accepted.
This all started because I am trying to back up my computer to an external hard drive and keep getting error message "windows delay write failed". I tried updating the hard disk driver but there wasn't any update. While searching for fixes for that problem, I came across Panda Software online virus checker. I used it and it deleted a few viruses. They were all old, some may have only been unopened email attachments and they were all from 2001 and 2002. Two days later, I was using logmein - remote access and while rebooting (not the first reboot) I got the blue screen. Here's the error message.
Driver_IRQL_not _less_or_equal stop:0x000000D1 (0x502F1F70, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0XF398B203) VSDATANT.SYS - address F398B203 base at F3966000, Datestamp 4313a6c6
So I looked up vsdatant.sys which is located in system32 directory, and I changed the name of the driver to vsdatant.old but then my zonealarm stopped working so I changed it back.
How do I get my display working properly? Any ideas on the "write failed" error message?
I have burned some photos onto a CD -R and have gone back into the cd drive but they are missing!! where have they gone. The photos were definitely burned on. I thought that once on a cd nothing could be lost.
I am using Win XP SP2 and for some reason my clock at the bottom right dosent count time as it should. i keep on having to put the time in and then when i go back to the pc the next morning it is still counting time but seems to be wrong.
I installed Paint Shop Pro 8 and a patch to PSP8, when I returned to my desktop, this horrible, empty green bar had taken over the bottom of my desktop. there is nothing on this bar except for the MS flag on the left side. Clicking it allows me to reveal my programs menu, but I have no idea what is open because nothing shows on this bar. I can neither move the bar or see underneath it.
clock in XP keeps going out by odd times.. and gets worse if he leaves it...it does this on both sync from windows time AND not to sync...what is causing this?tonight it was 47mins slow I have restart win32 time in CMD
I have to keep reseting my computer time every so often. It's worse when I turn on the computer. It's always ahead by about thirty minutes, I have to keep setting it back. It never stays put. (CMOS battery?) Anything I can do to fix it? Windows 2000
EVERY monday morning, something turns back my computer clock by 1 hour! it has caused me to miss important things! does anyone have experience with this problem? i have no idea how to go about trying to isolate the cause of this.
Windows XP SP2. Over the course of about 8 hours overnight, my system clock will fall back about 45 minutes to 2 hours. For example, it might be 8am, but the clock will say 6am until I fix it. As you can imagine, this is pretty annoying. It happens all the time. It appears to be a gradual change, not a big jump. I think the clock either freezes or runs too slowly.
When I go to adjust date/time, I see hours, minutes and seconds showing digitally. But in the desktop tray, the seconds do not show. Is there a way to get the seconds to show?
I'm using windows XP My clock keeps losing time three hours every night even though I don't turn off the computer..I have tried synchronizing with:Time-a.Nist.gov (successful) But clock is still losing time through the night.Time.Nist.gov (successful) But clock is still losing time through the night.Time.windows.com (An error has occurred while windows was synchronizing with time windows.com The time sample was rejected because The peer's stratum is less that the host stratum).I have also tried windows restore to an early date will not restore, have also tried repair with the window Xp operating disk It will ask for an administrator password have put in the password & it's say's that it is invalid.
Just installed a brand new copy of Windows XP Pro and find that the system tray is missing a couple of items that I would expect to see there. One is the clock, and the other is the icon that shows whether I am connected to the internet or not.
in the System Tray I not only have the time, but also the day, month and year appear and everything is mushed to the right in a small box. This suddenly appeared for some reason. Also, everything in the Task Bar is on two lines instead of one. I can't drag the top of the bar down further. I've searched all over the net to see how I can restore my Task Bar, but to no avail.
for some odd reason, the am/pm portion of the time displayed in the task bar, emails, imessengers, etc has changed to "??????" (6 question marks). I can correct using time/regional settings, but it returns upon rebooting. Windows XP Media Center.
I've recently installed WinXP on an older Compaq (P2, 350mhz, 256mb ram). Yes I know its supposedly under the minimum requirements. But believe it or not it runs pretty good. My problem is that I want to change the system clock but cant find the system clock setting in the Bios. how to change the system clock on an older Compaq like this?
A friend of mine told me the other day that he had downloaded a third party system clock because his did not show the day of the week in the tool tip that appears when you hover over the time. He said the rest of the computers in his house did and that they were all running XP. At first I didn't think that this was even a feature of XP. My computer also does not do this. Today at work however, I just so happened to hover over the time and noticed that the tool tip did contain the day of the week. I am always double clicking the clock to check the day of the week at home and this feature would be quite useful. What's going on here? How do you get the day of the week to appear? I checked the system clock settings and there is nothing in there. Google's no help either.
I have done EVERYTHING to figure out WHY my computer clock will NOT stay chaged since the new DST has taken effect. I have unchecked the auto update, unchecked the internet time, changed the time zone and changed it back, went into BIOS and changed it there, d/l the Windows XP (KB931836), and d/l the latest SP2. It will not stay changed.
