Fingerprint Scanner On Lenovo Laptop Synch With Newly Updated Password
Mar 1, 2007when using the fingerprint scanner on a network with pasword changes every 90days, does the fingerprint scanner on a lenovo laptop synch properly with a newly updated password? I have a user here who changed the password but the fingerprint scanner did not seem to recognize the change since when you first set it up it asks for your current password. Once setup correctly all you have to do is scan your fingerprint and it logs you in.

Jan 12, 2006I have an HP Pavilion ZV6000 laptop (AMD 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz, 80 gb Hdd, 8x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW drive, 128MB ATI Xpress 200m video dedicated memory). My Laptop has been having on & off problems booting to Windows, Some days it will boot to windows other days it won�t. The days it won�t I have to go thru the procedures listed below:
When I turn on my laptop it boots to the HP invent logo/intro & then that�s it, it doesn�t proceed to windows. Below in the left hand corner are a few instructions such as:ress <Esc> to change boot order
Press <F10> to enter Setup, <F12> to boot from LAN

Jan 21, 2009Due (I think) to a virus my XP Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gd_080 814-1236 will not boot to Windows properly. I just get a blank screen. I can CTRL/ALT/DEL to get Task Manager and then run a task from there, including MSCONFIG or a browser but the thing will not give me any options when I boot and often will boot into Safe mode - and again I cannot do anything with it.

Problem: A few weeks ago, the laptop became noticably slower to boot. I get an hourglass that lasts for maybe a minute. I can't do anything until it goes away.

Laptop Not Booting At All - Cant Format
Jul 25, 2008My laptop can't boot itself. When I try boot it, it flashes some error about ntdetect (or something) after the bios splash. And then it reboots on its own.
I've tried to boot from CD (with various software) but then I can't find the C: drive where it should boot (so I could copy the ntdetect file into its place). I could format the whole thing but I got some files that I really needed..
So is there any suggestions from anybody for this problem? Is there a way to copy the files from the hard drive or something.. I'm getting quite desperate with this thing
Laptop Is In A Booting Loop - Very Slow
Aug 5, 2007I started getting ad popups and it started running very slowly. I didnt think anything of it at first but then it started freezing and having a hard time closing windows and it was BARLEY running. And the bar at the bottom would disappear. I had to restart the dern thing 5 times just bc even ctrl/alt/del didnt even work closing these windows. Then it happened. One day when I was trying to restart it, It was in the middle of booting, and when the 'Windows is starting' screen comes up, the blue one right before you would select a user and put in a password comes up, the laptop just CLICKS OFF then restarts the rebooting loop over and over again.

Dec 12, 2006I didn't open any suspicious emails, shared on P2P networks and certainly made no changes in system files. Only thing I did was what I do periodically. I defragged my hard drive, uninstalled games and went into msconfig and stopped 3 programs from start up (DEAMON tools, PowerISO and SQL service) I was also having problems with the SpyCop package so I uninstalled and reinstalled.
So I restarted (like I should) and the only process it goes through is the DELL start up "splash screen" After that it usually does the Windows XP "splash screen" but it never does the Windows XP screen, it just stays black, nothing. I pressed F2 to see if anything changed and nothing seemed to, as far as I know. I tried F8 to enter safe mode and a couple lines of text show up and stop and hang. I even tried to let it sit there to see if maybe it's just getting used to the defrag job(s) I did, still black. It's still black as I type this.
Laptop Not Booting Up - Screen Is Blank And Then Frozen
Jun 24, 2005Recently my laptop is unable to boot up. The screen is blank and then frozen. I have to turn it off, unplug everything, and then wait for an hour to restart it again (and then it can boot up as normal). It all started last week after I installed Windows Media Player 10. I tried to restore the system back to a week ago, but the problem is still there.
Also, it always gives out a short "beep" sound after the laptop is ON for about 1 hour. Does it indicate that my mother board is having problem, or is it the hard disk?
Trouble Booting Laptop - Failed To Scan
Oct 3, 2007I am having trouble booting my windows xp laptop. I am in the bootcfg. I cannot get any further.Any bootcfg /rebuild command it states- Failed to scan......use chkdsk to detect errors.
It then displays volume appears ok

Jan 25, 2009I am trying to fix a Gateway MX3702 Notebook for a suitemate of mine. When it starts up, it loads the initial Gateway bootscreen, and then goes to a black screen for approximately 5-10 minutes. After that a loading bar appears across the bottom of the screen, and it takes about 30 more minutes to fully load. After that load XP starts up fine and there are no other discernable problems

The original driver disc is long lost, but for all but one of these, Windows XP finds built-in drivers that just work. Here is my chronology for the Bad Box that doesn't just work, there's really no alternative except to put the files that the box wants on the drive. To do this, I put the blank drive in one of the other Lenovo boxes (identical hardware in every way) and used XXClone to make a bootable clone of that other drive, put it back in my Lenovo and it booted fine, video looked great. I noticed that this system had never been updated and was running the original flavor of XP (confirmed in the properties of "My Computer"), so I downloaded Service Pack 2 and installed it.

Nov 29, 2007I have a Toshiba laptop and when I restart or turn it on, it hangs on the Toshiba screen. I then have to manually hold down the power button to turn it off, then press it again to turn on. This last time, it took about 12 times of doing this just to get windows to run. This started a few days ago when I suddenly got the BSOD, I think because of a driver. So I tried to change the boot sequence from the BIOS screen and when I restart it it comes up and says press any key to boot from cd and when I do you can hear the disk do something for a mintue or two then nothing. so then I tried to put in the original XP cd and try to re-install and I click the link, and then you can hear the disk make noise for a few minutes then the light goes out and does nothing.

Just regular Safe Mode, Start Windows Normally, and Start When Last Known Settings Work do not work. Safe Mode just freezes up, and the other 2 will go to the windows loading screen and a blue page will come up.

Mar 22, 2010So I have this Asus netbook with Win7 RC (ultimate) and its been fine. But the time has come. I bought an upgrade edition of W7Home back in the day from Amazon for $50. So I connected a usb DVD drive to the unit, popped an XP disk in and set the BIOS to boot from that drive. It loads all the files but when it gets to the setup screen, 3 choices, Enter to install XP (pro), F3 to exit and R to repair. None of these choices work, Its just frozen, I have an AC brick plugged in so thats not it. I tried 3 times with the same results.
Then I got a Vista Home disk and tried it and it worked just like it was supposed to. After that, from within Vista, I popped in the Win7 Home Disk and proceeded to install Win7. Perfect. I'm wondering why the xp failed at that point. in the W7 box it gave instructions to upgrade from XP which was basically, back everything up, then boot from the DVD.
Not Booting From Cd Drive
Jan 25, 2008it now wont go past the windows loading screen. I have tried to boot from his windows xp disc (to perform a repair) via changing the boot order in the bios but it wont do it. I even set all the boot orders to go from the cd and still nothing. I have tried multiple xp discs to no avail. If I get into safe mode the drive seems to be working fine. Windows recognizes the drive and that a disc is in there.
