Login Account Corrupt?

Mar 21, 2006

I have a problem with my login account. I have read numerous posts here about similar problems but have not found a solution that works for me yet. I have three regular login accounts - mine (admin account), my wife's (admin acct) and my son's (limited acct). For some reason control panel is not available on the start menu any longer when I am logged in my account (I do have the "set program access" on the menu but when I click on it it tells me I do not have permission to access). Control Panel is available on my wife's login start menu. When I go to user accounts in my wife's control panel - my account is listed there as an admin account.

So after reading a few similar problems in this forum I believe my account may be corrupted. So I create a new account under my wife's login, which I plan to copy my settings and files over to and delete the existing corrupted one, but I cannot create anything but a limited account there. I then ctrl-alt-del twice in the welcome screen to access the real admin account to see if I can change it to an admin account. BUT although control panel is on the start menu - when I click on it, it tells me that I do not have permission to access it. Even from -what I'm pretty sure is - the real administrator's account. How can this be? I have also tried to add the new account to the administrators group in lusrmgr.msc and that doesn't work either. I have spent so much time on this I am at my wit's end. Anyone have any suggestions that might get my account back working properly or how to get a new account?

Missing Admin Account For Login

Aug 14, 2005

After I last booted there is no longer an "Administrator" login choice. The Administrator account also does not show on the "User Accounts" screen accessed from control panel. It does show under Administrative Tools. I am now logged in as another user with administrative rights, but need to log back in as Administrator since I do most of my work under the Administrator account. How do I get the Admin login back?

its my friends pc and spec is athlon xp2200,80gig hd, 512mb ram, xp home,4 login accounts,3 set as admin level. i'll be as through as i can with what has gone wrong and what i have done at each stage to correct it. i dont want to reinstall cos its my friends business pc with loads of data on, and yes he does not have a backup cos he dont do them.(he will know though) he installed corel draw 4 (bad news i know - old 16 bit app for win95) and then rebooted. he couldnt log in on his user as he got an error about "INVALID ACCESS TO MEMORY LOCATION". none of the other logins worked as they suddenuyl had passwords on them.

ok i took it off him and tried the login. safe mode admin didnt work as it had suddenly got a password on it. i also got some memory ref 0xc00000bb and same error message. obtained the password crack cd boot image from (website not allowed- boot disk site suggested by a mod on another forum post) and did a reboot. lots of the accounts where locked so i sorted that and reset all the passwords to blank.............

Login Screen Email Account Settings - Change Or Remove

Nov 26, 2006

On the windows login screen, right below my login name, there is a little note that says how many new mail messages I have- This however was set up by my ex-boyfriend under his hotmail account. I'd like to change it to one of my accounts if possible, (I primarily use a university based webmail account), and if I can't change it to anything but hotmail or msn then I would like to remove it.

I haven't been able to figure out where to find this setting.

640x480 Forever - Blank Drive In One Of The Other Lenovo Boxes

Jun 10, 2009

Our offices have many Lenovo computers, 2004 vintage, no model name shown anywhere. The original driver disc is long lost, but for all but one of these, Windows XP finds built-in drivers that just work. Here is my chronology for the Bad Box that doesn't just work, there's really no alternative except to put the files that the box wants on the drive. To do this, I put the blank drive in one of the other Lenovo boxes (identical hardware in every way) and used XXClone to make a bootable clone of that other drive, put it back in my Lenovo and it booted fine, video looked great. I noticed that this system had never been updated and was running the original flavor of XP (confirmed in the properties of "My Computer"), so I downloaded Service Pack 2 and installed it.

I do not want to use this feature so each time I have to click cancel and then again click, yes I am sure. Very frustrating. I have tried everything. I called tech support but they did not know so they are researching it and said they would call back.

Admin Account Treated As Limited User Account

Mar 21, 2009

Windows XP Home SP2 in a Gateway Performer 1300 P4 I recently purchased a used computer locally from a private party. It seemed to work fine. Once I got it home, however, I discovered that when I tried to install the drivers for my wireless adapter, the InstallShield Wizard would come up and extract the files from the CD and then go away and nothing would happen. When I went to the Windows update site, it would not down load the activeX control to check my computer for needed updates. It did the same thing. It would show that it downloaded the file and then nothing would happen. I talked to a local computer shop and they said they have had a lot of trouble with "broken" Windows Installers lately. So I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the updated Windows Installer (as they suggested) and this did not change anything.

Renaming Primary User Account - Renamed The Account

Feb 17, 2007

I've gotten myself in somewhat of a pickle. I have a system that I had built for my husband. I later built a new box for him and decided to sell the previous one. A friend wanted to buy it so I purchased a copy of Windows XP so they'd have their own license, but instead of rebuilding the box, I wiped all the pertinent programs and info they didn't have licenses for and changed the license number to theirs. The problem is, I want to change the user account name under c:documents and settings to reflect the new name.I have created a new ADMIN account, logged in as this account and renamed the account "mitch" to "don". All this does is creates a new user "don" and moves the "my documents" (I have downloaded numerous pdf files that I've created instructing him on how to update antivirus, antispyware and general info on computer use, security, etc. and placed it in the My Documents folder) from "mitch" to don".

Admin Login Versus Profile Login

What happened is I just installed a new Hard Drive and a fresh windows install (XP Pro with Service pack 3). After all was installed it logged into my account (Me) which was my account with Administrator privileges. I did a series of windows updates now when I turn my computer on it goes straight to the Administrator account and not my account (me). So I have to log off or switch accounts from Admin to Me. I just want it to login to Me all the time. So I am not smart enough to figure it out.

Main Account Gone And Administrator Account Useless

Sep 2, 2005

My main user account has disappeared from the welcome screen. I know all about pressing Ctr+Alt+Del twice and typing in your account and if that doesn't work, to use the "Administrator" account to enable your main account. The problem is that my administrator account doesnt even seem to have any administrator privelages... its just as useless as the guest account, or so it seems.I don't know what to think. If i go to computer management and check out the users i see: Administrator, Guest, and some other SUPPORT_388... but not my main account. IF i go to documents and settings, i see all the accounts, including administrator and guest and my main account. So what's happening?

Owner Account Changed To Account Unknown

Sep 11, 2005

My owner account (where most of my files are) has been magically changed to "account unknown" under the System Properties/Advanced/User Profiles. I "see" the "Account Unknown" listed, but I am unable to access it. I tried signing in as the administrator, but no luck. I checked Windows help online, but no luck. I called Sony Vaio support, (support?), no luck. I am running XP Home Edition SP2 will all updates. I have found out that the files aren't gone, according to online readings, but getting to them is another matter. I'm a minister and all of my sermons funerals baptisms etc. are connected with the "Owner" profile.
