I need to install thai font onto pc manually, but have damaged xp disc that came with pc. Have already download and saved required font file on pc harddrive. Now require instrution on how to instal file
I bought a Toshiba laptop for my daughter on eBay. I was able to log in using the password provided but it has since expired and I don't remember what it is. I have the XP disk and thought I might as well just reinstall XP and start from scratch but the disk isn't booting. I can't get past the log in screen to get to the Start menu.
i have installed a new hard drive , with no problem , except , the font size from the windows home page. i want to select extra large [ properties ] but i only get small size . it doesn't matter if i select large either, it is still on small. oh , i can move it , but , it doesn't change . is there any place i can kick this up ? on the old hard drive , it was no problem . [ same computer . ] any hints will be welcome.
I really like this font in Vista and was wondering how I could install it into XP? I was going to do it by installing the powerpoint reader 2007, but it looks like it doesn't contain the font.
Due to a faulty RAM module my PC crashed and showed me an error that a was corrupted. My vendor tried to reinstall XP on another partition of my harddisk. But meanwhile,by reinserting another good RAM module the problem was solved and the installation was left pending. Now,I'm having two options one,Windows XP proffesional and two
I had installed RegCure last night and then uninstalled it since it wasn't working properly. This morning when I turned on my computer, I found out my system font has changed dramatically. The font appears to be a spin off of WingDings, but I can't tell. I can get on the internet and IM no problem, but as for finding something on my start menu, or trying to navigate to my system preferences is an impossibility. Also, on the internet and IM, everything is bold and the font is larger.
The system's default font is now Wing Ding, which if you know is nothing but a bunch of symbols. I have tried to do a system restore past the date when this problem started but nothing changes. I've done a lot of searching on google but nothing has worked thus far.
I have a font problem on my Windows XP professional. When any software uses some kind of system font, it is a bit to big. Looks like it is one or two pixels to big, og maybe in bold? This error shows up in some softwares, like in buttons and some texts. Its also there when a software crash, in the window that pops up asking if I want to send the error or Microsoft.
I keep trying to install Windows XP (tried both professional & home edition) and when it starts checking my system, it gives me the following error (the error comes when it is checking (which is the 4rth messsage on bottom of window), "Setup is loading files (Kernel DLL)".I then get the error message "File setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 4. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit"I have searched high and low to find Error Code 4 in microsoft's web page and have found nothing.
I am installing Windows XP Home on a computer. I just reformatted the hard drive using the Win XP CD.Now, when it goes to install, I get an error message that says Error: SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:I386asms6000MSFTVCRTLVCRTL.MAN on line 16.Error: Installation Failed: D:I386asms. Error Message: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).Fatal Error:One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. If you are installing from a CD, there might be a problem with the disc; try cleaning the disc or using another disc.
Is there any method to install other essential drivers like motherboard, graphic card, sound card drivers during the setup rather than installing them individually after completing the setup?
My friend's computer monitor loses signal about 75% through the "Installing Devices" phase of the Windows XP Professional installation. Article 311839 in Microsoft's support site has a solution, but it didn't really work at all.
i got this very old and cheap brandless webcam, it came with a mini-cdr which holds the drivers, when i place the mini-cdr into my dvd drive, it made a load noise, then the installer runs and i got the error shown in the top of the pic, as i continue the installation i got another error, shown at the botton of the pic, now i know maybe the disc is corroupt or something, so i decided to use device manager to install the drivers manually.
when windows did found the driver on the disc, it turns out to be a notepad file, which was strange, but i continue to install anyway, but windows pops up a message saying the driver isn't signed or could be harmful or something like that, i cancel the installation and uplugs the camera. i thought it made sense since the mini-cdr could actually be a coaster or a badly burnt disc, as the installer states there's an error, but should i try anyways?
had virus on system, I tried running as many anti-virus, malware, spyware, trojan programs in Safe Mode to no avail. I came to the conclusion that I should do a fresh XP install (SP2). Everything was fine after re-formatting and installing until I got to the "Installing Network" segment with "32 minutes approx remaining". The first time I waited well over 40 minutes and nothing happened. I restarted and started over with a re-format and the same thing happened. I've tried everything I can think of:disconnecting the ethernet, removing all my expansion cards, making sure all of the on-board devices were enabled in the BIOS.
I am having to reinstall XP - the setup starts and then reformats the hard drive. After it has done that it won't start the program installation it just keeps looping and reformatting the hdd
I recently noticed that there is a thin bar above my toolbar on the bottom of the screen. It was never there before. This may be simple to fix, I just don't know how to get rid of it.Look at the toolbar on the bottom of the screen, you see the thin bar above it? That wasn't there before. How do I remove it?
I have a custom pc with 512Mb of memory and want to add 1Gb to that.Ive already check at Kingston,Crucial and Gigabyte sites and know I need a DDR-333 memory. I have some questions though.
1.Will I need to add an extra fan to avoid higher temperature anywhere?
2.How can I know if my existing memory stick will work with the new one?
3.Do I need to change any configuration in my computer?
Needed to re install windows xp..........after mucking around for a day, I have now 3 Home editions and one setup, to choose from when I start up the computer........anyone got any idea how to remove the ones that I don't use, so I don't have to choose which one at start up?
I'm running xp, and my c drive has now become c,f and g.when checking in disk management, there are no volume labels assigned. In Disk 0, it shows the three partitions (I've no clue why there are 3, is that standard?)39 MB FAT, 69.81 GB NTFS, and 4.64 GB FAT32.This happened after a failed software install that dell refused to help with (there's a shocker)It's just an annoyance, nothing more, but I would like to get it back to being just the c drive without risking losing anything in the process. Something I can do safely or just live with it?
My daughter's laptop has extra large icons that I cannot get rid of. Also, when she goes to a website, that too is also very large and will not fit on the screen. I have tried to right click and adjust the icons but that does not get them back to normal. I have checked the dpi and that is as small as can be adjusted
the top link to xp is the usable link.the bottom links to the time I accidently installed xp to my spare hard drive when I did a repair install to the first drive.XP was removed from the second drive when I realised what I had done leaving this dead link remaining
for some unkown reason, I have another local disk on in my computer. Instead of my 'C' and my 'd' for recovery, I know have a 'e' local disk. It's 1 gig and about 600 mb used. There are four main folders, CLSetup, Documents and Settings, Program Files and Windows. Also a file call ntldr. In the programs folder there is common files and windows media player. in the documents and settings folder, there is defaut user, local service and networkservice. In the CLSetup folder, there is AP_Pack, inside that, 00, inside that, several files. Of course there are files in all the other folders too.
my pc has 512 ram on 1 stickif I put in another 512 do I have to alter anything in bios setting - or will the pc see it straight away with no adjustments needed
I have 1 memory slot left in my motherbaord and it supports a maximum of 1GB in that slot - I have used the previous 2 with 1GB in each channel running as dual channel memory.
Can Windows XP MCE 2005 work with more than 2GB of memory? I heard that XP with more than 2GB of memory is like Me with more than 512MB. Under Me when I used more than 512MB RAM (768MB) it worked but after performing intensive tasks I has incredibly slow performance to the point where the system almost grinded to a halt!! I wouldnt even dare make full use of the 1GB as I saw articles on MS website saying that 1GB will cause 9x OS's to completely not start at all!! Oh and lets not forget the glorious BSOD - those bring back some memories!
Once I upgraded to XP the 768MB of RAM worked fine. Then went onto 1GB and then afterwards a nice comfy 2GB.
Simply put, if I have 3GB of RAM, will I experience slowdowns or lockups in XP MCE 2005 much like I did in Me, when I had 768MB of RAM? Is 2GB of RAM the "ceiling" in XP MCE 2005 for good reliable performance.
I was trying to free up some space on my computer, so I got into "Add or Remove Programs" to see what I can delete etc. I noticed that there are like five Java updates, they all have that icon next to them.. the cup of coffee thingie. it's in white, except for J2SE where it's in blue. Can I delete some of these updates? Like Update 2,3,5 maybe? Or do they have to stay on my computer.? Should they even show on the list? Do I have them installed?
