Run Out Of Idea To Fix Windows Services
Dec 22, 2008I ran out of idea how to fix my windows services. This image show my windows services is set to automatic. At first it starts smoothly, but after a few mins or an hour it will stop. i don't know why, it stops at random times. and i'm already frustrated of starting the services manually over and over again. I tried reformatting my windows. I have 2 pcs' in my house, same windows use ( windows xp pro sp2 ) The other pc is AMD, it works fine there , and that is my first pc by the, The windows services doesn't stop at my AMD pc. But here in my Intel , i keeps on stopping, everytime I turn on the pc, then windows starts, a few mins later the services stops again. I already reformatted twice. reinstalled everything correctly but its still the same. I tried updating my drivers but no luck, tried also looking for other drivers but still the same.

restore and says part 1 and 2 of restore and it will shut down and restart and finish part 3 and 4. Problem is, it restarts in umbutu, because that is the first choice on the startup menu.

Nov 5, 2007For some time I have been having problems booting up with XP; I don't get a BSOD but a page full of print asking which of 5 options it should use with Start Windows normally highlighted. None of the options worked and would just keep going round in a circle. I discovered that occassionally windows booted up and would madly do as much work as I could as well as running all my security programs. However these times have ceased and after a week of no Windows I decided to use the Reload disc to recover the system to factory mode. To my horror I now have exactly the same thing happening . Can someone tell me what is likely to be wrong with my system?

Dec 8, 2005I frequently use the MSconfig file to uncheck programs to keep them from starting up automatically at windows boot up. However, its not too long before the programs reload themselves and start up again on boot up. Im guessing that using these programs for some reason they load themselves up at startup. Most notably is the yahoo messenger and quicktime programs. I dont want them loading at start up but everytime i do use them, they put themselves back in the start up routine. Is there anyway to stop them from doing this?

Aug 13, 2005It keeps doing strange things. If you click on recent documents, it says they aren't there, but they are. If you click on a file, the program comes up, but the file won't open until you click it again. That's only a couple of examples. I've reloaded office and it didn't help. So I decided to reload XP. It says I have a newer version on my computer that what is on the disk and if I load it, I will lose files and programs. I'm assuming it's a newer version becuase of all the windows updates. I also keep getting SYS32 ? errors, plus run time errors.

Dec 27, 2006I just got a new computer with an AMD Duron processor, 512 M RAM and Windows XP. Only problem is I've got no audio. I've checked BIOS and sound is enabled but Windows doesn't seem to recognize that the speakers are hooked up. When I tried to play system sounds from the Control Panel, I got an error message that said cannot play sound, your sound card may be in use. The computer was a gift that was bought used and the shop didn't have any documentation with the system. I think this might be a driver issue but I'm not sure how to find out which driver to try.

Feb 14, 2009I reinstalled my OS and all my software, shortly thereafter I noticed I had an issue where any sound that was coming through my headphones was being retransmitted through the mic, with further testing I found that this was not actually the case but rather any sound that would be output is being retransmitted as audio in, even if I had no speakers, headphones or mics connected. I have looked at and experimented with everything I could in every sound settings.
I have tried updated drivers, the only way for me to stop the issue from occurring is to mute the mic in the recording control, but that stops me from using the mic altogether. I need to be able to use my mic without recording anything that I am hearing as well.
General Audio/Flash Audio Levels
Oct 11, 2009First off I use windows XP with the latest service pack. I'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard Asus striker II extreme.
The volume of my flash player (I first noticed it when trying to view a video on Hulu) but other flash embedded videos won't play sound either. I thought this was a flash problem, and tried the usual fixes uninstalling reinstalling, running the update utility and removing and reinstalling the plugin. Also it likely isn't a browser issue as embedded videos didn't play on either Firefox or Opera.
After restarting my computer after a few uninstalls I noticed my startup music wasn't playing as well. I'm thinking that it might be some registry error as it seems like the music is very quiet instead of muted, and all of the volume levels in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties menu are at the correct levels, and my other media players play music and movies just fine.
I've browsed the forums and haven't seen anyone with a similar problem or a fix, so any help would be greatly apprciated.

Sep 15, 2005A few days ago my pc wouldnt start. it started to load on the XP logo screen - progress bar moves across - then stops. so I use the power button to restart, which gives the option for safe mode etc. Ive tried system restore, scanning, starting up using boot disk. still not happening. Question I have is if I use the utility to reload the pc "as I bought it". will I get the same problem? I dont want to go to the trouble of reloading windows, software etc. (I only made a boot disk after this problem begun; will this have any bearing on reloading windows?)

Windows booted and I proceeded to install Norton which came on the system, went online to get updates, and the computer locked up completely while getting updates.

I assume a DSP, especially for older CPUs (600 MHz. or so) is a big improvement because it offloads a lot of processing from the CPU. I am interested only in stereo. How can I know if an add-in sound card with a DSP is actually an improvement? Does the DSP overweigh other issues, eg. does a cheap Mad Dog Prowler 4.1 DSP sound card offer an improvement over the motherboard sound of a Compaq DeskPro ENS/P600? Truth is, I've been looking for but have not seen a treatise on this topic. Does anyone have any links for me to pursue?
