Icons On My System Are Being Covered By The Internet Explorer
Dec 1, 2006the icons on my system are being covered by the internet explorer "e". I'll put a screen shot of what I mean if you let me know it's what you need.

Link Icons In Internet Explorer
Aug 18, 2005above my address bar i have the Links toolbar which has several links such as google, hotmail, and gmail.When ever you create a new link and add it to the bar (i drag the web page there) a link is created and there is usually an icon placed to the left of it. for example, google's is a "G". has anyone ever noticed though that after a couple of days the picture disappears and turns to the internet explorer icon with the "e".what do u have to do to make each pages original icon stay there permanently.

Mar 30, 2010I have a PC which boots up okay and I can double click on any icon, they open and when I minimise them they minimise. When I start Internet Explorer it all works fine with other icons maximising and minimising as they should. However when I close Internet Explorer I can't click on any icons and when I select them from the Start, Programs menu they start but won't minimise.

SO I did.. well when it rebooted, it came up blank for a long time then my programs came up..except nothing is working. I can't even get system restore to work again. I can get AOL to come up and internet explorer but when I click on a link. nothing happens. I don't want to lose my whole system. I am using windows XP home edition.

Feb 1, 2008when i switched it on, i couldn't see my wallpaper, but just a black screen. I tried changing it back to the wallpaper, but even though the wallpaper seemed to change, i still could only see a black screen. The wallpaper is there, because when i close a game it appears for a second, then gets back to the black screen. It's like it is being covered by the background colour. Everything is still working fine, and i can use all the icons on my desktop, however a black desktop is very annoying

Jan 12, 2008Whenever I try to use internet explorer, it will close on its own after a little while, stated that and unexpected error has occured. I have internet explorer 7. When I try to open up various things in my documents or on my external hard drive, the same thing happens. I have deleted things that I no longer use, I have run a malware program twice, and I got a new antivirus program (Symantec) and ran it three times. This has not fixed the problem. I have downloaded Mozilla Firefox, and that works well for the Internet, but I still cant open other windows without them giving me an error and closing shortly after. It is driving me crazy

Sep 6, 2007I decided to reinstall windows but (a tad stupidly), I didn't check first to see where my license key was... you see, it should be on the side of my case, but I swapped that over for an Antec P180. I copied it down onto a piece of paper, but unsurprisingly that piece of paper is nowhere to be found.I've used a code from another Dell machine in the house to get into XP, but obviously that's no use for getting it activated,and I keep being told my copy is not genuine (ie by Windows Update), which is rather irritating considering it clearly is. I was told to chase up Dell about the problem by the windows activation tool, but all of their support is locked down to two options... warranty covered hardware failure, or paid-for support.

Nov 18, 2007I am using Windows XP Home, on an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1GB RAM. When I have been using the internet (Internet Explorer version 7) I occassionally experience a slowdown of everything internet related. I check the Tas Manager and it shows my System Idle Process using 99% of CPU. I find this odd, as my system is clearly not idle cause I am using it! My computer is on a network, and I havent heard it happening to other computers on the network until today, when the same thing occurred on another machine in the network. any ideas on what it is?

Internet Explorer Won't Work - Update Operating System
Oct 19, 2005daughter has an "emachine" (I know, but it's too late) with XP. Son opened a "cheats" from Google and now they can't open internet explorer at all. Just gives us the "sorry, we'll send error report." They can right click on the "explorer" icon and open by "run as" but they can't download anything, or open new pages (assuming the other pages are stored). They play a game called Ragnarok(sp??) and that may have something to do with it, not sure. Anyway, I've checked internet connections and she is enabled, I've run Winsock and that doesn't help, even loaded Foxfire browser to bypass, but it won't open either, just gives me the same message.
