Huge Quick Launch Buttons
Dec 23, 2004i just installed windows xp and my quick launch buttons are about 4 times the size they should be is this new in sp2? can i change it? because it's really annoying

Quick Launch Buttons And Accessories Options Disappeared Automatically?
Apr 25, 2006I was on my computer yesterday, and all of a sudden, my quick launch buttons are gone, and the accessories option from my start menu is gone (you know, the one the has system tools, volume control, calculator, and all that under it) I don't know what happened!

Someone Deleted Quick Launch Button
Apr 19, 2005Someone at work deleted my Quick Launch Button which is located at the bottom of the taskbar (also called Show Desktop button).. My quick launch tab is checked so it's not that. How do I get my Quick Launch Button back? I don't know how anyone can function without that Button.. I love that button! I Right Mouse the taskbar.. go to Toolbars and yes that Quick Launch Tab is checked.. they actually removed it and deleted it..

Sep 23, 2007I have just got another computer running XP home. I am not able to drag and drop a shortcut to the quicklaunch bar. And yes I have the bar unlocked and quicklaunch checked. I can't imagine why I don't have this function. When I drag to the quicklaunch bar I don't see the usual black line on the left of the icon.I can drag and drop on the desktop all day. Any suggestion as to what the problem might be? I have never had this problem in eight years I have had a computer.

I have to click the small arrow on quick launch bar( see the first and second attachements with my post). I want to know is there some way that I can see more than just 3 progeammes on this bar without clicking the arrow? Secondly can I choose which programmes to appear all the time on quick launch bar( see first attachement) and which programmes should be hidden and will only appear when I click the small arrow( see second attachement).

Aug 13, 2005Just reinstalled XP Pro on my laptop (ATI graphics), and have set the taskbar settings to small icons. The quicklaunch buttons, for some reason, are disproportionately large,though.I know that before they were nice and tidy (before I had to reinstall), so know that it IS possible to have something that takes less space than these do. Is there some separate setting somewhere else for quicklaunch button size that I am missing?

Now, whenever I reboot, the toolbar disappears and I have to right click on the task bar, select toolbars, and select Quick Launch. May 22, 2007I recently had to restore a mail folder for my Thunderbird application for a deleted account.So I accidentally made my entire application data folder visible (not hidden).Since then, an application called Quick Launch appears in the Applications pane of the Task manager that I can't kill.My understanding was that it was just a toolbar folder in the Application data folder. Every time I go full screen in WMP and come out, a little Quick Launch window minimizes itself to the bottom right of the taskbar.

After running a program called System Mechanic from Iolo technologies I discovered my computer had stopped working properly and kept telling me that files essential to the smooth running of windows had been changed. I did a system restore operation and almost everything went back to normal. The only exception is my desktop icons, and icons on the quick lanch bar. Oct 14, 2006I have finally decided to put my screen settings to 1024-768 or what ever that one is lol .. but my only problem now is the font size.. for example up top of this page where it says file,edit, view etc..is really small and same as the name thats down on my bar at the bottom of my screen where my open windows are they are really small and I want to make them bigger how do I do that? also .. my quick launch icons are super small can I make them bigger? Aug 11, 2008I happen to notice the size of the WindowsSystem32 folder to be a surprising 892 MB. Checking the size of the Windows folder showed a 383 GB size on disk. Aren't these numbers a tad on the large side? Is my system failing to purge trash and temp files by attaching some strange extention on files? Are log files ever labled as anything other than .log? Or temp files ever something besides .tmp? Fellow tech freaks, I await thy wisdom. If I'm just being paranoid, and my OS folders aren't bloated, please pass on anything I can do to keep an eye out for commonly overlooked bad habits of windows xp sp2 including file and folder build-up, leading to sluggish start-up and general degrading of simple operations.

They can appear in a very short period of time (a couple of hours), and I have to boot into Safe Mode w/command prompt to delete them. In a short period of time, they can obliterate as much as 30 gb of disk space. Is there a way to determine what program or utility is writing these files?
