I want to delete the company name in the SYSTEM PROPERTIES > REGISTERED TO field. I figure there must be a registry key that holds the info? Can I just delete the key and re-enter my name? The name itself is right, but some ninny who worked on my computer must've entered my old company name. It's annoying.

But in the "Windows Task Manager", under "Users", it still lists my name (not hers). View 6 Replies View RelatedMy new laptop came preinstalled with Windows XP. When it booted up, it asked me who would be using this computer, saying something about how it would create new profiles for them. I whimsically decided to enter "THE KING" (to be the admin) and "peasant" (for other users).
Apparently that was a bad idea because now it says the computer is registered to THE KING (for example, when you click My Computer, then properties). Is there any way to change it?
Since my dad got this computer for me years ago, his name has always been registered or whatever you call it that makes his name appear as the author of html and java files... and also be the name on the "C:Documents and Settings His Name Here Desktop...."
when I write a java class in eclipse, or html, it automatically says his name as the author at the top, and I have to change it. Any way I can change it more permanently? I dont think I can change the user folder under his name, because everything is installed there
My 'computer guy' installed WinXP Professional SP2 on my newly-constructed computer last week. I was disappointed to note that he registered the end-user license agreement under my nickname, rather than my given name, hich I would have preferred. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." The disc image is not mounted with any program, and hasn't been for some time. I tried aborting random processes that I thought might have something to do with the file, as well as restarting. No matter what I do, there seems to be something using the file. This applies to programs, icons, photos, documents , folders etc - I cannot get to any of my work to back it up. I have tried Stinger -F-Force and W32.Blackmal@mm Removal Tools. Ran a full AVG scan with uptodate anti virus and Adaware Spyware. Sorry forgot to mention other things tried. The Pop up message does not appear in the Task Manger either as applications or processes. Each time you respongd NO to negate the delete it pops up again. There is no way I can get to any of my folders or files to burn to a CD as backup without the Confirm Delete message.

The files and folders that I am addressing are: C:WINDOWSTEMP*.* *.OLD *.CHK *.BAK ~*.* _*.* and MSCREATE.DIRI have managed to clean all but one, which is _*.* When I run the search, I get the result of 144 files. I click on edit, select all, then file, delete. I receive the following error "cannot delete file: Cannot read the source file or disk" (please view screen shot). When I right click, I have no delete option, just "open containing folder, copy, and extract. (please view screen shot). I have run AdAware, Spybot, Ewido, and Avg Free. I also have CCleaner, Easy Clean which I have run. I have also used "Move On Boot" by putting the file path in the MOB window and try to have MOB delete the file. MOB says the file will be removed on the next boot.
