View 7 RepliesPentium 4, XP Pro, SP2I was always able to click on a photo or photo file folder and copy it to my CD Drive to put on a disk, in fact, copying photo files to a CD was an option that appeared in the menu. Today, I discovered it was no longer listed as an option feature and when I tried to copy a photo directly to the Drive, nothing happened. I have lost the ability to copy and save any of my files to a disk and I sure am perplexed and worried about what to do to save my files. I can't figured out how that option just up and disappeared on me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to put the pictures that I saved from the My Pictures folder back to the My Pictures folder. I have set one of them as the new desktop background. (It was before the format).I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have taken a series of pictures on different days and downloaded them into a folder in My Pictures. I need to put them in a sequence so I right clicked each picture and re-named it as follows: 001jpg, 002jpg and so on for 100 pictures. In view, I selected arrange icons by modified and all the pictures moved to the sequence I wanted. All is well and good until I copied the folder to a CD. All the pictures reverted to their original sequence instead of the sequence I put them in.
How can I copy the folder with the pictures in the sequence I put them in? Whenever I open the picture file to look at that folder, they are always in the sequnce I put them in
I am using an old Dell with XP and Internet Explorer 7. When previewing some images I have stored in My Pictures, I find when using the 'previous' and 'next' buttons I am able to pull up the next or previous pictures as I should. But when I e-mail an image to myself and then use the 'next' or 'previous' buttons, I begin to get images from web sites I have recently visited even if it is just my home page. While scanning my home page, for instance, I collect dozens of images in a matter of minutes. The only change I have made recently is a download of info from a digital camera disc to enable me to store pictures from my new camera.
I did a system restore to a couple of days before that download but I'm still copying dots, dashes, logos and pictures or frames from videos.
I have a little problem maybe someone has a answer for me. I have a WD 250 GB HDD labeled as the D Drive. Well this morning I cannot get to it from windows at all a error message pops up saying MBR is corrupted or unreadable and that is it, the drive has worked flawlessly until the past week. Whenever I copied a file to it then tried to view or play it it wouldn't let me into the folder where i placed it saying a similiar message the folder has become corrupted and locked me out as to say. Today the system doesn't even recognize the drive at all.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI suspect we did not allow the write operation to finish but why this should affect boot up is beyond me.WE were copying a Folder containing word docs and gif files using right click/Send to/CD Drive. The files were copied ready for burning in the usual way and the burned to the CD.Being anxious to check the copy my partner clicked on the ready to burn icon instead of exiting and looking at the drive and the system froze. the only way was to power down and now it will not boot.It hangs on the windows logo screen (with the blue horizontal scrolling bar) and eventually the screen goes blank.I booted to safe mode and the screen hung at the end of the files loading, at least I thought it hung but in fact i had not waited long enough because on the second attempt it booted to safe mode after 4 minutes.Device manager shows no problems so rebooted as normal. Got the usual windows has encountered a problem screen and selected safe mode again. This time it took 25 minutes to boot.

Once the format is complete, it then begins to copy over all the Windows system files from the disk to drive. It gets between 70-80% complete when it starts to encounter errors copying files over.
I've used two seperate rom drives as well as 3 different installation disks and I get the same error at the same point in time after every attempt.

My old XP crashed 2 days ago (All thx to WIndows Auto Update). I tried to use the Windows XP original CD but after repairing, it just stuck at the loading bar with an error message saying that "System32drivers tfs.sys is missing or corrupted".Using the recovery console, I copied the ntfs.sys from the CD to replace the new one, but it didn't solve the problem.
Tired & Frustrated, I decided to install a new one on D:. Now my new XP worked great, but I kinda need all the program that I installed on the old XP back. They're all there on my hard drive with my old XP system. So I guess if there's someway for me to copy all the registration files from my old XP system to my new one, I can run all my programs. I'm really appreciate if anyone can help me with this.
No Error messages of any kind have appeared that would indicate what the problem of copying photos might be. XP-Pro, SP2, Pen4,Internal Drive;Using the Windows default copier, I can burn DVDs from my video files using the DVD-RW drive, but I can't burn CDs from my photo file. If my burner burns videos onto DVDs shouldn't it burn pictures onto CDs too, it's the same drive. Until recently the burner did burn both types of files. I can't determine why it will no longer burn photographs.

It never is the same files, it has been about 15-20 different files on about 5-6 tries of installation. It asks you if you want to retry and sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes you have to skip. It says it could be the windows disk, but the windows disk works fine in my test machine and I can install windows perfectly over there.

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen you copy a folder in Windows XP, the Confirm Folder Replace dialogue appears, which only gives you the option to replace files one at a time, replace them all, or opt out (No). How do you keep the old files in the folder and add the new ones that are not there already? For example, if I am backing up My Music folder and there is 7 GB of music sitting on my external hard drive, how can I add only the 200 MB of music files that have been added since the last time I backed up this folder? I remember this used to be possible in previous versions of windows. The dialogue in XP, the way it is set up, you have to replace all the files.
