I use XP Home, SP2. When I try to read the NYTimes online, I am asked for my id and password again and again. I have checked the box indicating windows should remember my info. It happens also with some other sites, but not all.

I like to weekly, or so, delete all cookies. This seems fine except that it also removes log-in info for sites such as B of A. I have to re-enter certain items. can I remove the cookies yet save certain ones that I frequently need to reuse?

[PROBLEMS SOLVED]
Am now able to access the Samba shares from my Windows Vista machine WITHOUT entering username/password for my Samba user because I made a Samba user equal to my Vista windows user "masterdam79".
I WAS able to select the "Remember my password" checkbox on my Vista machine, first time I logged on into the Ubuntu server and now I never have to type in the credentials again on that machine.
i forgot my password. i just wanna know how to pretty much hack my computer or reset the password without logging on.
How can i do this?
Running XP Pro with 1 DVD ROM and 1 CDR drive. Whenever I remove media from a drive and replace with a new disc, windows only displays the old data and doesn't recognize the new disc. Especially frustrating during a multi disc install. Sometimes it will refresh if I eject the disc through a menu vs. drive button. Other times this doesn't work. This happens with both drives, so it doesn't seem to be hardware issue.

I am running a program called Ceres (uses internet explorer) and even though I have told windows to remember my username and password, it still pops up everytime and ask for it. This wouldn't bother me too much, but other programs I use off a server which require a login also refuse to work. I have to go into that drive and type in the password before windows allows me to open it. I have reset the password option many times, but still no luck.

Trouble remembering my folder views/settings. For example, I can set my folder to view Tiles or List or Details, but when I go back, it resets the view to what Windows chooses. Also, my quicklaunch bar won't remember the order of icons. After I change which icons I want where, it resets after a system restart.
So far, I have already tried deleting the BagsMRU key from the registry to reset the folder views. Also, I have already played around with the "remember folder settings" option in folder views. I have also tried a program called MRUBlaster to reset the settings. And, if I choose "set all folders to this view" setting, it works, but if I change the view later, it won't remember it

I used to get the Task Manager with all the tabs - applications, processes, performance, networking, and users. Now, nothing. I don't remember changing anything that would affect this. Because of this, I can't shut down applications that screw up or ones that I want to turn off for a specific period.

It doesn't have problems with any other program, nor do other users of ACR I have communicated with appear to have the same problem. Its been there so long that I can't remember if I put it there or if it came that way on the computer. I set up a new email account, and checked "Remember Password", but it doesn't remember.
I found a Microsoft article telling me that if my outlook 2000 installation is internet mail only (which apparently it is), I will need to change the registry value for "SMTP Prompt for Password" to 1. This didn't help.

My PC won't remember usernames and passwords though it prompts me to save them after each time i login.
I have turned it off in Autocomplete and put it back on and no effect.
i did some changes in the control panel as advised by a website to boost game speed.
One of these was to go into the control panel and then admin tools and system and disable some of the automatic loaded programs.
I have also lost the windows xp theme and cannots ee how to restore it.The option is no longer present in the themes available.

It will save me the trouble of having to re-create them all over again on the laptop, plus I'm not sure I can remember all the passwords. On the MS website I've searched for "export email accounts" and several variations on that but have come up with nothing. The only thing I can find is how to import the accounts from Outlook Express into Outlook, which is not what I'm looking for.
