Computer Wont Load Operating System / Keeps On Restarting?
May 27, 2007
My brother has a windows xp pro and the pc's history is not good It has many problems such as virus's etc but my brother can never be bothered too fix it.
It has had windows xp re-installed many times.!This new problem is just finshed the computer off. What it is, is when you turn the power on the pc it loads up to the screen which is black and says windows xp pro and has the small loading bar which is normal for all windows xp's, it keeps loading up and then all of a sudden it restarts the computer and it just keeps repeating this process and there is no stop too it
It all started with problems on my moms desktop. She couldnt get on so i took out her hardrive and put it on desktop and backed everthing up. Then everything worked fine but last night i went to go and plug in my hardrives on my comp and when i powered it on the monitor popped up saying no signal and nothing loaded, and while it was turning on it was beeping.
I shut off the computer and turning it back on couldn't boot up windows. It gave the windows wasn't shut down properly and I tried the normal restart option and it would just give a black screen with a blinking _ and then nothing happens. Tried loading in safe mode but it gets to mup.sys then "Press Esc to cancel SPTD.sys" flashes below and whether I press Esc or let it be, nothing happens after that.
I tried popping in the windows xp disc that came with the laptop, boot from disc, it starts up but then after loading everything, it then says "Windows is starting up" the disc stops spinning then nothing happens. I tried popping in a windows vista disc and it says "Windows is loading files" with a progress bar, when it fills up, I get stuck with a blank black screen the disc stops spinning and then nothing happens.
PC is left on pretty much all the time. Whenever I have to restart it for whatever reason it restarts normally, loading XP relatively quickly. However, if I have to shut it down for even a few minutes, Windows will typically fail to load most of the time. Usually it will hang on the black screen with the white progress bar, or sometimes on the loading xp screen. At this point it will sometimes start up when I reset it, or it will show the "Windows failed to load normally" screen. If I then start in safemode then restart it usually works, or even if I choose "start windows normally". I'm not sure if this is a driver or hardware/bios issue, I have reformatted once, and restored the OS using my XP disk a couple of times but the problem persists. I keep most of my drivers up to date. Tools like Sandra don't report any major errors (from what I understand anyway). I have just ordered new RAM, as I thought this would sort the issue, but it hasnt. I have to run my memory at 100hz so it will boot without any problems . If I run my processor at 200fsb then the computer doesn't boot and it doesn't start.
I have a pc that was running windows xp pro until a couple of days ago. Nothing was changed or installed. And I do not not have windows xp sp2 installed. When I started the pc it would try to start windows and go into the options screen of starting in safemode, safe mode w/command prompt and so forth. I would choose safe mode and the system files would start to load and stop and hang on "amdapg.sys" file. I have read that it could have something to do with my AMD chipset. Which I do have. I even tried to do a clean install and still nothing, the xp setup trys to start windows and nothing happens it just sits there
I am trying to become computer smart......still working on it. My problem....Blue screen will not load nt4 os......BS states memory dump. Tried to restart......not working. I can enter, and did, f2 startup. I read where I needed to delete an old partition, did, now nt4 startup disk with not load, as i am prompted that the drive is too big (3.99). I cant seem to partition the drive? I would like to just start from scratch, wipe drive, start over..I just want to get this going so I could update nt4 (currently has sp1). I think I have my work cutout for me.
I took a hard drive out of another computer and put it into my computer to fix it. (I have my reasons for doing that) i hooked up the hard drive and when i turned on my computer, it loads the screen(the screen where it shows the master, slave, etc.). Then it loads the screen about boot from CD, and then it stops It stays at that screen and doesnt load windows.
When i turn on my pc i get this message.Stop c0000269 {Illegal System DLL relocation}The system DLL Kernel32.dll was relocated in memory .application not run properly relocation occurred becuase DLL c:windowssystem32GDI32.dll ocuppied address range reserved for windows system DLL's. Lately my computer has been out of wack. it been restarting out of no were then sometimes just shuts off totally until i switch outlet or wait awhile then it will start. Then it will try to start up then it just restarts b4 the windows pops up. it does this most the time but some times i am lucky to get it to load up and able to use the net only for short period of time.
I tried scanning with avg ,spyware doctor, nod32, and even tried using ccleaner and registry mechanic and nothing will work. System restore doesn't help either. Anyone know what I should do? I know for a fact that it's definitely not spyware. Maybe my registry got messed up? It runs fine in safe mode. CPU Usage is about 75% which is not normal for me.
I turned my computer off last night and when i went to turn it on this morning, windows wouldn't load. It went to the screen that says you can start it in safe mode or normal mode or any of the other ones. But when i choose any mode the little white bar at the bottom of the screen loads, but then it freezes. Or if i choose safe mode it floods my screen with a bunch of command lines then freezes. I need a little help here guys because i am baffled. I know this has happened to me before but i do not remember how to fix it.
After I used Fix-it Utlilies the program erased essential system folders. So now when I do check disk it reboots, flashes a blue screen real fast (so fast I can't even read it) then restarts the computer, restarts check disk, restarts the computer, and on & on. It won't stop doing this till I interrupt check disk at the start by hitting any key but then I end up with a black screen with instructions which include safe mode, safe mode with networking, start windows normally & last known configuration
I can't boot from an installation CD to do a "repair" since Windows was preinstalled in the drive so I have NO CD. Does system recovery work?, who knows, I'm a noob and have no idea how to use it. The only thing I've tried to fix it was 2 things : 1) use system restore which failed; 2) use run> sfc /scannow but this file checker is also broken and will barely start before it errors and stops. I don't know what else to do besides reformat
Ok I feel as if all i had is lost. I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP . I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system
I had dreams of networking the 2 computers together. The library computer came with Windows 98 on it. In my ignorance I took my Windows XP disk that came with my current computer and loaded that onto the library computer. I thought it was like a music CD, where you can use the same disk in all the products that you own. I found illegal to load one operating system onto 2 computers using the same disk. I bought a Windows XP upgrade from Office Max yesterday for the library computer. I have been told though that I need to have Windows ME or 98 or some older version on the computer for the Windows XP upgrade to work. Since I've already put the XP on the library computer it doesn't have 98 on it anymore. win ME or 98 disk from a friend that has upgraded to XP if they have one laying around.
My computer was locked down by microsoft due to not activating and for some reason i couldnt activate it over the phone. So i decided to , reformat my computer with the Windows XP Professional SP3 on this site and the XP Gamer's edition if the first one didnt work. So i installed the first one and it seemed to have worked perfectly, but when it restarted my computer, it went through the whole first step AGAIN. i thought that it might be normal so i kept going through it. Then it went through it AGAIN, now i knew something was up
I was having issues with spyware, and got those taken care of. But now, when I turn on the computer to log into windows, i get to the welcome and it starts to load windows. it loads the wallpaper, and then nothing. it'll just sit there. Short of reformatting,
I installed a second version of Windows XP on my computer. If memory serves, I installed it on the same directory as my original operating system. I uninstalled it shortly thereafter however, every time I boot up, the computer asks me which copy of XP I want to use. This despite the fact that I have since totally reinstalled windows and even replaced the physical hard drive. How can I get it to stop asking for an operating system that no longer exists?
i am on a mac but recently used bootcamp to install win xp professional 2002. when i installed it i used my product key and it worked fine and everything ran smoothly. but when i went to activate windows it said i had used all of the uses of the product key. i remembered i had used it three times and understood that but now i am wondering do i have to reformat to use a new product key or just enter a new one where it tells me to enter it. also if i can like take a product key off another computer or do i have to buy it. if i do have to buy and reformat should i get home or professional
I know you all are always up to date onto personal computer things and news about it.But lets fly up the imaginations, and wonders.Lets say, There's a new windows version, the newest, the 2008.What would you hope that in that version would appear? What hopes you have! what do you think it will appear.
I bought a Dell Optiplex computer (gx270) that had no operating system. I am looking for step by step instructions as to what I need to do to install the above mentioned OS. Upon completion, connect to the internet. Let me know what other info you may need to assist.
I was trying to beat some guys FSB (his was 600)I thought nothing could go wrong =]so i set the FSB to 600 PC would'nt boot.so Asus cleared CMOS for me i took the FSB down to 550 Booted.just Windows Came up with a System.dll Could Not Be found.Took the FSB down to 533 Re-Installed Windows XP (slipstreamed SP3) and now... i cant have the Default windows XP theme Installed Asus BIOS Update then Updated BIOS to 0802.Re-Installed windows XP again and still no Windows XP Theme. Its like my PC Is locked onto the Windows Classic Theme
My SIL has messed this up badly. I am very good at following directions and usually figuring out computer problems, but now I can't do anything. The computer boots, shows windows XP loading and then stop. No error message. No blue screen. NOTHING. Just empty dark blackness. And I am at a loss what to do. I know they have viruses on their computer and I was trying to help them get the computer fixed. Now I dont know what to do.
I would like to know if it's possible to have a decent experience on windows xp with a so limited computer like mine and if so what can I change or improve to make this computer run less slowly. Here's my computer specs: IBM Personal Computer 300GLType: 6563-A2F,Pentium III 728Mhz, 128Ram, HD 20GB,Video Card: Savage 4 16MB, Windows Xp SP3 Fresh install since today,Non-ACPI compatible computer,Forced HAL installation in Standard PC Mode.
I just bought this computer about 4 months ago and over the last few days it has been randomly restarting on its own. I ran adaware and scanned for viruses with norton and they found nothing. Yesterday it restarted a couple of times, one time I had firefox and paint shop pro open, the other time, I had outlook express open. I'm not sure what could be causing this, the only thing I've installed within the last two days was the latest expansion pack for sims 2.
i aint doing it ! the computer keeps restarting on its own it all happened yesterday first time it just restarted i dont remaber doing anything suspicious.i checked my inside of computer and everything is intact, i checked for spywares and still no hope done a chkdisk etc.
A couple of weeks ago my computer started to act very strangely and after sending numerous windows errors it began to restart on its own for about 5 mins then restart again. It continued in this loop and actually the loop became smaller to the point where I couldn't even get onto the log on screen and it just kept saying press 'ctrl, alt, delete'.When I did it just restarted to the same point (small loop).I asked a few IT bods and they said that it couldn't read from the hard drive and managed to get a XP boot disk and it then started to run but not to my log on page. The page had a 'run' button instead of start.I copied over all of the files from the disk to the hard drive and ran it from there. Then hey presto I was back on to my log on page and home page. Then exactly the same thing happened. The error pop ups began and it began to shut down and restart.
My computer keeps restarting. I tried everything I could find on google with no prevail Within minutes of turning on my computer it restarts. I followed one suggestion un checked an option "restart computer when computer crashes" and now it just freezes within minutes of startup. It doesn't, however, freeze in safe mode if that makes a difference.I've tried pretty much every virus/spyware program in the book so I don't think thats the problem.
