Pc Keeps Restarting Every Few Minutes And Desktop Wont Load?
Apr 22, 2007
I tried scanning with avg ,spyware doctor, nod32, and even tried using ccleaner and registry mechanic and nothing will work. System restore doesn't help either. Anyone know what I should do? I know for a fact that it's definitely not spyware. Maybe my registry got messed up? It runs fine in safe mode. CPU Usage is about 75% which is not normal for me.
my computer take about 10 minutes to load. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the user screen, and another 5 from there. This computer uaully would boot in around 1 min.
i'm using Windows XP right now.All i know is that out of the blue when i got back to my computer and the screen was black and had the message in white text in the left hand corner that read something like this "Invalid Disk System.Replace disk and press any key".i tried just pressing any keys but the message just keeps on appearing beneath the previous one.i recently bought an external drive, and my computer was working fine for a few days until now. When my external drive is not plugged to my USB that message doesn't appear. Now every time i use the computer, it would work normally but after every 5 minutes or so it would just restart itself without any warnings.
Lately my computer has been out of wack. it been restarting out of no were then sometimes just shuts off totally until i switch outlet or wait awhile then it will start. Then it will try to start up then it just restarts b4 the windows pops up. it does this most the time but some times i am lucky to get it to load up and able to use the net only for short period of time.
My brother has a windows xp pro and the pc's history is not good It has many problems such as virus's etc but my brother can never be bothered too fix it. It has had windows xp re-installed many times.!This new problem is just finshed the computer off. What it is, is when you turn the power on the pc it loads up to the screen which is black and says windows xp pro and has the small loading bar which is normal for all windows xp's, it keeps loading up and then all of a sudden it restarts the computer and it just keeps repeating this process and there is no stop too it
I turned my computer off last night and when i went to turn it on this morning, windows wouldn't load. It went to the screen that says you can start it in safe mode or normal mode or any of the other ones. But when i choose any mode the little white bar at the bottom of the screen loads, but then it freezes. Or if i choose safe mode it floods my screen with a bunch of command lines then freezes. I need a little help here guys because i am baffled. I know this has happened to me before but i do not remember how to fix it.
I have a computer running XP Pro. Today I installed some new software (tax software) and also installed a few current windows updates. After restarting my computer, the desktop has disappeared. When I try to right click to bring up a menu, nothing happens. When I try to save a file to the desktop, it apparently does, but no icon shows up.I don't think it's a virus of any type (but what do I know!) because this computer has not been used in some time.
Since a couple of weeks my PC (w. Win XP Pro) takes approx. 5 minutes before the desktop icons appear on the screen on startup. Everything is normal from turning on the power and logging into the PC and after logging into the PC the desktop background image (wallpaper) loads immediately - but then it takes some 5 minutes before all the icons appear on the screen and before I can even get the start bar to appear. But after these 5 minutes everything pops up nicely and the PC works perfectly. To mee it seems like the PC is trying to connect somewhere and probably fail after the 5 minutes and then proceed with the other tasks. Then thing is that it doesn't seem to be much activity because the harddrive lamp only blinks occationally during these 5 minutes. Have not got any Symantec virus warnings and I have not downloaded or installed any new programs at about the time this started to appear... As everyone here seems to add a HiJackThis file - I thought I better do it too - but I don't suspect to have a virus... Anyonw have any suggestions on what might cause this slow load of the desktop icons?
After I used Fix-it Utlilies the program erased essential system folders. So now when I do check disk it reboots, flashes a blue screen real fast (so fast I can't even read it) then restarts the computer, restarts check disk, restarts the computer, and on & on. It won't stop doing this till I interrupt check disk at the start by hitting any key but then I end up with a black screen with instructions which include safe mode, safe mode with networking, start windows normally & last known configuration
I can't boot from an installation CD to do a "repair" since Windows was preinstalled in the drive so I have NO CD. Does system recovery work?, who knows, I'm a noob and have no idea how to use it. The only thing I've tried to fix it was 2 things : 1) use system restore which failed; 2) use run> sfc /scannow but this file checker is also broken and will barely start before it errors and stops. I don't know what else to do besides reformat
I am running XP Home on a network with no other users.
I currently haveto use a password to logon. I dont want to have to do that. I just want it to turn on and load to the desktop without having to go thru the logon screen.
My computer is very fast, intel q8300 etc... and used to load very quick. But after the windows update that installed internet explorer 8, the icons and start menu take at least 5 min to load, if they do at all(sometimes they don't even load at all). There is no internet explorer 8 to uninstall
Images (jpg, gif, bmp etc.) on my desktop suddendly stopped working a few weeks ago when I double click on them, they work fine anywhere else and displayed using the default "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" but on desktop it's always "No Preview Avaliable". It will work when I right click on the file, open with and choose "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". After installing SP2 hoping it will fix it, it won't even show "No Preview Avaliable" now the Picture Viewer quits itself. I've tried searching for this problem anywhere but had no luck.
Whenever I boot up my computer, in Normal mode, and I click on my or any other username, it takes at least 3 minutes to log in. Then, after it finally logs in, my taskbar nor my Desktop icons appear, but Explorer.exe is already loaded. This happens for all usernames, and I created a new one. I can load Task Manager, and I can load individual programs and files from there. If I kill Explorer.exe and then restart it, it still doesn't work. I have no Restore Points, by the way. I can go on Safe Mode, which is how I'm posting this. There is like a 10% chance that its a virus, but I highly doubt it due to the fact that im a computer "guru" and I maintain my computer well. Im guessing its just corrupted registry settings. Also, I cant run HijackThis in Normal nor in Safe Mode, and I tried reinstalling too.
Have WIn XP pro SP1 with 1 Gb ram. About 2 months ago I got problems with desktop startup. Initially,my icons load with a default image and then update over about 6 - 8 seconds to display the correct image. Previously the desktop opened up with all icons correctly displayed. Anyone got any suggestions as to what might be causing this ? The rest of the system seems OK, I've tried going back a couple of months with system restore.
I downloaded a picture I wanted to use as my desktop scene to My Documents> My Pictures. It loaded OK.Control Panel>Display>Desktop> Browse>My Pictures opened OK,but, the pic I wanted did not show up. Rechecked My Pictures via My Docs and there it was. Trouble is I can't load to Desktop from there as it has to be from the Browse window. Why do have 2 My Pictures?I have rebooted and tried everything I could think of.The picture I want is a .swf file which I opened from an email.
1. Let me clarify that I am NOT USING the same computer that has the problem. I am on a friends computer, so anything I download from majorgeeks will have to be burned to a disk and RAN IN SAFE MODE because my laptop will only run in SAFE MODE until I resolve this issue.1. HP PAVILION ZT3349cl running Windows XP Home, SP2 2. As of 2 days ago the DESKTOP will FREEZE when it is loading startup icons and the mouse arrow keeps a "busy" symbol and it cannot select the "start" button, cannot click on anything on the desktop, just stays frozen in a "loading"position. I cannot get my laptop to do anything, so I have to CTL, ALT, DEL and do a "Restart" in SAFE MODE, and then I cannot get on the internet or anything in Safe Mode.
We have recently sorted out my `windows installer`problem but now when I start up windows it takes about 3mins for all the icons to load up on my desktop There is nothing there just the wallpaper and then after about 3mins the icons for my programs load up I thought it was something to do with the start up in msconfig`so I ticked them all to load up but its still happening and also my Nortons internet 2005 is disabled on start up even though its ticked to load up on start up.Yet my antivirus from norton loads up and its connected to the same program
I start my windows xp and it loads fine at first and then gets into loading the desktop and then nothing happens, but just before that a RUNDLL message pops up and says: rvbc1.dll: access is denied, you can click ok or the x on the top right corner, after that the menu dissapears and nothing happens. No desktop icons or start menu loads. Actually the start menu you can kinda see flash for about 1/2 a second.I've tried many solutions, I'm in fact working with another guy from techsupportforums.com and haven't gotten anywhere with it. I've run hijackthis and combofix to no avail. I think a virus has locked out the system. I don't know what else to do or try.
Running winXP.I recently accidentally deleted Userinit.exe due to a false positive. Desktop would not load up but could still run programs.read somewhere that userinit.exe ran explorer.exe so tried running that from run.would start to work, brought desktop n everything up, but would freeze.on a whim i opened the control panel from run to see if there was anything i could do from there. When i ran control, it started my desktop and everything worked just fine. Since then, i can start everything normally from running control when i start up. but i imagine it would still be healthier for my computer in general to have userinit working properly. however, here is where my computer knoledge fades. from reading other similar probs, it would seem that userinit has different parts? reg keys ect. only part of the whole working userinit configuration or whatever seems to have been deleted, since reading others who have had it fail completely dont appear to be able to do anything with their comps. so wondering how i can go about finding out which part i need to replace/fix. looked in i386, and there is a userinit, but when i go to copy it over to sys32, says overwrite? i didnt, since i would assume that means that part is fine. any ideas on what i need to replace?
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 I have Windows XP my computer is less than a year old and the other day it just started and the start menu and desktop icons wont come up any longer.I dont wanna reformat it because i have a ton of music and other files on here that i'd like to keep like pictures and whatnot is there anyway to get my computer to come back?
Ok so my XP Home PC has only 1 profile so it took me straight to my desktop.after a windows update recently, something has changed to where now i have to click on a user profile to get to my desktop. BUT the thing is there's still only 1 profile. http://sehanafortress.com/temp-pix/sd700is_20090402_00001-crp1-rs40pc-covered.JPG ...as you can see.how do i fix it to where it skips the 'choose user profile' and load it to where it goes straight to desktop?
when my windows xp starts up it takes ages to load the desktop icons(3-5 mins). I've tried scanning with mcafee and trend micro but nothing was found. This also happened to me a while ago but then i simply restored my computer to an earlier time which worked, but it's happenning to me now again and i again tried restoring my computer to an earlier time but this time it didn't work, it said it couldn't restore the computer to that time
I have XP Entertainment Home Edition. My system boots up to the user profile screen where I can choose between the two profiles If I select either profile a blank desktop appears (no icons/no windows task bar) and freezes Trying to boot into Safe Mode also hangs after choosing a profile. It's a Dell so I don't have the XP cds to try a repair. I do have other computers with different versions of XP installed that are working fine

First my computer was cutting off in the middle of any program. I decided to delete everything on the drive and reformat it and reload windows xp. While trying to load windows xp it would load the set up but when going to load files it locked up everytime. I tried also loading windows 98, 95 and they too locked up. At one point it said I had a virus in my boot sector and at another time it said I had a virus in my RAM. I got a program called PC Beginner to help partition my drive and redo the MBR. I can partition the drive and format it but windows still doesn't load. Now I wonder if there is a problem with the mother board and I have a dual bios board, I was wonder if there is a program loaded in the dual bios that may somehow causing my problem. If so what can be done to clear the problem? How can I get windows reloaded?
When I turn the computer on as soon as the welcome screen comes up to sign in, a window pops up saying "The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM. Time before shutdown: [counts down from 1 min] Message: the system process 'C:WINDOWSsystem32services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741482. The system will now shut down and restart." I have tried system restore which is unsuccessful, I have done "last known good configuration" which also doesn't work. I'm in grad school and need my computer
the computer boots up and goes to the windows 2000 screen but then the next screen would be the desktop but instead it reboots and goes to the same spot the 2000 screen but never makes it to the desktop, this happens over and over. I tried to go into safe mode but does the same thing tried command prompt only so I could type in SCANREG but it just reboots again I can't get anywhere to do anything.
The last thing I tried was last known good configuration. I clicked on it and a page comes up with all the writing I hardly got a chance to read it when it reboot again. but under the first paragraph wher it says something about last know good configuration it has a space and the it says project 1 like I could have click on that if I would have been fast enough.
PC was rebooted and this message showed up. I couldn't get to safe mode so I put the XP disc in. I got to the D:winint dir and tried to run bootcfg to scan for the boot file. It came back that it couldn't find it. I was able to see the dir's and data on the 2 drives. I ran chkdsk to see if that would solve the problem, it didn't. Do you think this is a BIOS problem or a missing boot problem. If it was the BIOS would I be able to read the drive. Looking for a fix without destroying everything.
