when I try to view the properties of a file, delete it or rename it, etc the computer just flashes to my background and refreshes itself without doing what I wanted it to do.

I have a problem with my desktop. Every few seconds, my desktop seems to be ''refreshing''. My taskbar seems to disappear for a moment, then returning and reloading the taskbar icons, as if I just logged into windows. This is very annoying, because it's very hard to do anything now because it lags my computer every few seconds. I don't know why it's doing this, or when it started, it just seemed to happen over night. I scanned for viruses with PandaSoftware free online scan and removed some trojans. I also scanned for spyware with Ad-aware, Spyware Doctor, and also used Registry Mechanic and EasyCleaner to fix others problems I think are triggering the problem, but it didn't seem to fix it. Another thing is that sometimes goes away, especially when I'm doing any type of scan, but it can return at any second. It always appears after a reboot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just put together a new system from scratch and regretting it BIG TIME, I have an intel d915GAG board with an intel P4 3.2 chip. Brand new WD HD, floppy, and 2 dvd/cd drives. After the final screw was tightened, I started my new system and the intel logo appeared. I pressed ESC and it appears to start the bios setup. It flashes my memory size (size is 512 MB), then the screen immediately flashes and begins to do and IDE scan, in which it promptly tells me that Device 0 not detected, device 1 not detected, device 2 not detected, device 3 not detected....and the setup stops right there. I don't have a clue, after searching Intel's site for 2 hours where to go from here.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using wallpaper spinner which made my background change every minute. I have been using it for almost a year and never had any problems with it. Now when i go into properties to put a wallpaper up they are all grayed out and i only have the option of a color for my background. Anyone have ANY idea on why it cant display pictures and only colors? I have went into my pictures and right clicked and hit set as background and nothing happens i cant even use pictures that came on the computer for wallpaper and my wallpaper spinner was running and it wasn't even showing anything on the background.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some sort of program running on the background of my computer that seems to be disturbing any kind of task I try to accomplish on my cpu. It seems to be running every 30 seconds or so for a brief moment and then repeats over and over again. Whenever I try to type, this program or virus clicks off the current window, in which I have to reposition my cursor again back to where it was originally. Even as I type now, I am having to click back onto this editor every 6 or 7 words. I have checked my task manager and cannot find any processes that are running since the only happens and causes a disruption for a brief second. This is very odd and seems to make any task that much more aggravating.

Thats when i checked for viruses and found i had one. My antivirus program is cheap so it detects it proceeds to say it removes it but doesnt.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to go to my homepage "hometab.bellsouth.net" it will not go. I get a flashing "DR.Redirect" and that is all it will do, sit there and flash. Also I can not go to my bank account, it will not let me log on. I can go to most everywhere else on my computer and also on the internet. Have I gotten something set wrong in my security settings or is there some type of a virus that does this. Norton Antivirus can't find any virus.
The exact same thing happened to me last week..and I combed every message board I could possibly find. I found it odd that my web-surfing was unaffected.but the symptoms were the same as what you're experiencing. None of the answers I found helped at all.

When i run ipconfig it flashes off the screen before I get a chance to read it.I clicked run - then typed cmd and got to the dos screen - then I typed ipconfig and the screen flashes off so fast I do not get a chance to read it - how do I get the dos screen to stay on?? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have about 1 and half year old PC and i had electricity problems in whole house, and while the PC was turned on, the electricity gone. After it got back i boot up my PC and from nowhere right before windows loading screen (WELCOME) it gives just for a half second or less some weird blue screen...I can log on to windows everything works but just that screen a bit worries me that might something happened. I tried to go to Safe Mode but while im pressing F8 i just get to select what to boot LOL.I hope anyone will read this message and write an advice or oppinion or something what might happen and if it is possible some solution.

See it once at every startup, but only at startup, and only at the end of the desktop loading.Been happening for a few weeks now. It appeared a few times while I still had ME, but appears at every startup since installing XP SP2, which is about 3 weeks ago. My Screen Resolution is set at 1024 by 768 pixels, and my Color Quality is set on high (24 bit). My screen resolution is set at 75 Hertz.Here's what I have done so far~~I ran all the tests (on all the tabs) on the DIRECT X DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS, and passed them all~~no problems found.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs my XP computer boots up an error message flashes by and then disappears and the computer continues to boot. All seems well. Im fairly sure its from a prior program, Acronis something or other that I deleted. It was a program similar to Norton Ghost for backing up and rebooting in case of emergency that gave you the option to press F11 during boot up if you wanted to it use it in an emegenecy. Anyway, how do I edit it out of there? It drives me nuts. I also think both my boot time and shutdown/restart times are slower than what they were or should be.

Then it vanishes before I can actually read anything. It can't be open for more than 1 second.
I'm scanning for viruses now.
i turn on my desktop computer and i log on and open up my usual programmes then after a while the screen flashes black and back to normal screen , couple flashes later it goes black and the green power button flashes i have to turn it off and on again for it to restart but the problem is still the same.

It will not accept choosing Run in Safe Mode. It is not possible to get into BIOS. I have two questions:1.Can I start the pc with a floppy boot disk?2.Is there anything I can do APART from restore XP, as I haven't backed up all my files.I do have Norton but was in the process of getting the latest update. I thought it was prob a virus. All symantec website says is Run AV software HOW if I can't boot up?
