Bypass - Log In Automatically
Jan 28, 2009
For some reason my computer is asking me to select the admin when I turn it on or do a restart. Is there any way to bypass that and just have the computer take me to the desktop automatically?

Whenever something is in use, it can't be deleted, good or bad. I'm wondering, is there any way I can go around this and delete something even if it is in use. ie. BHO, .dll files?

While trying to sort out a fairly unimportant problem I have almost wrecked my operating system.
The system:- Windows XP professional with all updates until Friday (now Sunday)
Computer:- Dont know the make, I think it might be Elite with 1.7 dual core processor, 2 Gb ram 300 Gb HD and Nvdia Graphics card, also installed, a TV card, wireles card and A DVD/CD drive.
The problem:- I was trying to bypass the Windows log on screen and sought help in this forum. The advice I was given seemed reasonable so I did it
What happened:- After making the changes the computer booted up properly but when Windows started I got a lot of splash screens and pop-ups as if it were a new installation and to my horror I could not access any of my data.
What I did:- I tried to use system restore but found that all the points I tried could not be restored.I tried shutting down Zonealarm (another post refers to this) which did not help,so I tried to uninstall Zone alarm but could not as apparently a dll has gone missing. So I deleted everything I could find related to Zone alarm and tried system restore again.Disaster.
The log on screen had reappeared and I thought I had solved the problem. Clicked on OK and the screen with only the mouse pointer appeared and stayed there for about 15 minutes, then the desk top picture appeared, nothing else. About 30 minutes later the icons and <Start> appeared. Everything seemed to work and I had found my files again But I am unable to access the Internet or outlook express, the IE diagnostic seems to think it is a question of Firewall. This could be as the Zonealarm Icon is still in the tooltray even though I thought I had deleted the whole of the program.
I would be grateful for help in two areas. First and most important How can I regain access to the net. Second repairing the ridiculously long start up.

I bought a computer from a co-worker who just recently left to go to bootcamp. When I bought the computer from him it was just the system and monitor, no disc or anything. To make a long story short his username and password are still in the computer. I have no way of getting in contact with him and he hasn't contacted his parents yet either. Is there a way I can change the login password or bypass it even? Remember I'm running XP Pro.

I cannot boot up and bypass the logon screen. I have adjusted the settings from Control Userpasswords2 by unchecking the "users must use a username and password to use this computer" but still am required to click on my name on the logon screen. I've also adjusted the same setting in TweakUI for XP with no help Another issue, which has happened on two different computers is when I attempt to use the Panda Scan my anti-virus warns that it contains a virus and will not let me proceed with the scan.I am using XP Home version, a single user on a non-network computer and I consider myself to be an intermediate user.

When I upgraded my computer from 2000 to XP Home Ed., the guy at the store installed a new motherboard, and then installed the XP. He spelled my last name wrong, and now everything in the registry with my name is spelled incorrectly. I want to be able to fix that.
Also, I would like my computer to bypass the welcome screen when it boots up.I had it set up to do that, but then I did something to cause it to go back to that screen, and I can't get the bypass to happen again.

I rebooted computer and got an error about a missing or corrupt file so windows would not even start to load.I got the bright idea that I could do a repair install of Windows. After the repair install copied the files necessary, it restarted the computer and I got the same "file missing or corrupt" error. So I found the file that was corrupt online and copied it to the HDD.Now my problem is that the Windows repair install is giving me an error after it loads the install and comes up with the install screen.

For security reasons, Microsoft does not allow parents (computer administrators) to check on, maintain, adjust or otherwise enter their kids' (limited users) XP profiles without either resetting their passwords or waiting for them to come home and being confrontational about it.Ideally I would like to be able to log on to a limited user account from my administrator account without tampering with anyone's passwords-resetting them or otherwise. Actually, I have little interest in the (step) kids' personal life and stuff. Alternately, perhaps you may help me with my ultimate goal: limiting screensaver activity:

I use to update my Xp SP-2 regularly from MS website. Now a days it is insisting to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)" first to proceed for downloading update files. Is it a FORCE or I can bypass this tool. I do not want to install it, as somebody told me this is a tool by MS to takeout personal information on my OS (XP) and MS Office and other MS Software.I know I use genuine legal copy. But why should I allow MS to take more information ? Is not WPA through internet is not sufficient ? Can this tool take information on other products/3rd party software like NERO,MS OFFICE and ArcSOft ?

One of my operatives is using a Windows 2000 SP4 PC, networked, and she's had problems shutting it down (which I've now resolved) but it's not locking when she's away from her desk, leaving it accessible to all. She assures me it used to lock. Before I delete her profile etc. I thought I'd ask on here in case it's a registry setting or something simple that I've missed.

I am not sure why or when but now CD's dvd's don't start automatically, I have to go to my computer and click on the dvd drive to start it. This happens with all disks, music movies and new software, even though I have certain programs set to start when disk is inserted they don't, like WinDVD is set to load when a movie disk is put in and now it does not start, so I am not sure what I did, but if anyone has a fix I sure would appreciate it. Win XP Pro SP2, AMD Athlon xp 3000+ 2.1 ghz 768 mb ram.GE force fx 5700 ve graphics card with 256 mb ram.Sygate pro firewall, and AVG virus protection free version, Problem happens with or without firewall and virus software on.

I'm having this problem where my computer keeps shuting down (automatically) when I log in, right when the applications are loading. The message that popped up varied quite a few times, when of the messages I've seen the most is: "imjpmig.exe-dll initiation failed" and "the application is shutting down".Also, how do you change your BIOS (I'm so used to Win ME) with XP? Which button do you press and when do you press it?

In Win 98, I used tools to have my caps turned on automatically at every bulleted list and start of a new sentence or paragraph. but with Xp I still can't get it to work. In tools, autocorrect options, how do I get it to capitalise every sentence and the first letter of every bulletted list. Right now in XP Autocorrect, the first six boxes are checked but still does not work in the way I want it to.
