I am trying to burn an iso image to a DVD+R disk using NERO 7.0 Ultra Edition and for some reason when I go to burn the image, it tells me I need a CD-R or CD-RW. I just bought some DVD disks for the first time yesterday. I have used regular 800Mb CDs to burn iso images before with no problem. What's the deal with the DVD iso burning?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with understanding the differences between these words (actions), when I use Retrospect,( a backup program,) I cannot read any files since the backup file turns into a huge something. When I backup, I mean I copy my files from one drive to an external drive and I can always restore them or copy them to another computer. These are for my files.
When I want to re-install a program, I take the original disk or the zip file I downloaded, stored on CD or another external hard drive.
I tried to install my old Nero w/full lic key but it wouldn't.
Giving up the idea... I proceeded to remove every file with Ahead Or Nero in it. Used jv 16 Power tools to remove left overs. Nothing now shows in jv16 or search of all files & folders (with hidden & system showing). Ran CCleaner including other MRUs etc.
I have Windows XP Pro, Corporate ed. with sp2 (its all legal mind you) and i need to be able to burn it to a CD and be able to pop it in my new computer and boot up XP (cuz my new comp is just preformatted HD only)

The problem is that it seems at some point that some kind of update was interrupted during the process and the system will not load unless a windows xp professional edition disk is inserted to complete the update. I also cannot get it to start in safe mode. Unfortunately, I only have a home edition disk. Can I reformat XP pro with a home edition disk? If not, are there any other options?

I was trying to install a new driver from ATI, so I (or atleast I think I did) uninstalled my previous driver and then restarted, and then tried to install the driver I got from ATi's website. I get an error message when I try to install it which says that the driver doesn't fit the adapter. Now I'm stuck without a driver. I'm using Windows XP, if that matters, which it probably does.

I was wondering if there is a good way to store a disk image of a hard drive either within that drive or on a server and have it overwrite the booting drive on every boot? I work at schools with computer labs and sometimes the kids mess up the computers and we have to run a Ghost Multicast session to wipe the drive. But everyone has been asking me for a way to wipe the computers clean on each boot? File loss is not an issue, as kids save their work to thumbdrives and network shared folders.

Is it safe to restore an OS disk image without removing the partitions i.e. restoring an XP disk image back to its original partition whilst keeping the Vista partition intact. I'm trying to find a safe/efficient way of backing up my OS's by saving disk images to an external hard drive, so if something goes wrong, ie doesn't boot, I can restore an image via the other OS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some kind of puter glitch in that when I restarted my desktop, it now goes into a virtual loop of resetting itself. I have taken out the master drive, put it into another PC, and ran diagnostics/virus scans/worm checks/etc., all coming up negative. But no matter what I've done (won't go into safe mode, won't do last known configuration, etc.) it still resets itself. I've now started the task of taking off all of my files & data so I can send the PC back to be fixed (unless someone has a good idea of what to try next). My concern lies in the registry/win.ini files that "tell" the PC how I want/have my files & programs. If I make a disk image of the drive, will that "reset" my settings when my PC is returned? I don't want to have to reinstall everything and redo all my settings, etc. (I-Tunes, MS Office, etc.). Or will that potentially cause it to have the same problem over again?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI protected my personal files in WXP and made an Acronis true image of the disk. After a disk crash, I rebuilt a new disk instead of using the image but want to get to my personal files by using the Acronis image mount utility. The tool works pretty well, the image looks like drive "G" when mounted and I can see all of my files, except for the personal ones. My new WXP load has the same user name, password, and computer name as the old one did. However, the NTFS security will not let me see or take ownership of my personal files. I dont want to have to restore the old image just to get my files but will if I have to. Any ideas for an easier way?

i am running windows xp media center edition on my computer and it has just started happening not so long ago but when i goto use disk defrag when i press analyze i get this error message. i have tryed restarting my computer and trying again but i still get this error message even when i press defragment i get it to.

The destination disk was brand new and I may need to return it.)But I first thought to run Chkdsk, but found that without my recovery disk (that's the one that has my XP on it, right?), only the primary drive would be checked. View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently had a CD burner installed in this current computer, the associated software is Nero Express and works very well. I was told that I could upgrade my Nero 5 software, which is on another computer CD burner. I un-installed Nero 5 and upgraded to Nero Express and got all sorts of problems, example - all the desktop icons disappeared and I could only get programmes from the taskbar. So I un-installed Nero Express and re-installed Nero 5. This resulted in Windows 2000 Pro. re-booting itself continually. Up to the present time no-one has been able to provide me with a solution. Office 2000 Pro. is my choice for emails and all office work. Other programmes that I used were Spybot S.& D., Microsoft Anti-spyware Beta and A.V.G. Contacting the Nero site has proved to be an exercise in futility, so here I am asking for help. The start-up process works alright as far as 'Setting up Network Connections' and then re-boots.

But the encoding part takes about 3 hours for some movies and the subsequent burning takes only about 15 min / movie. Is it possible to queue the encoding process for, say, three movies and save the separate encodings to image files for later burning to three DVDs? I can do this for one movie but I cannot figure out how to queue them. My idea is to set this up so the computer can work overnight.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm burning DVD-s with nero the computer is very slow!I mean like the mouse even is lagging (i'm not sure if that is the right word ), when I click on an icon the indication (when it gets blue or something) is coming after a second or more.If winamp is playing a song, it starts drawling (the same happens when i click on thumbnail veiw of a movie on a dvd!)!
When i try to start a program, or open a folder the buffer (that nero shows) is at 100% and the folder opens after a 15-20s!When i open more than one program, the buffer drops to 50% and the computer is even slower!When the burning ends everything is ok..the computer is behaving normal!What could be the problem!I don't think it's from the hardware (1 GB Ram, Athlon 64 (3200+), 128MB Video)!Now i'm scanning with mcafee 2008 and after that i'll run ad-aware and spybot!
I recently downloaded loads of music video's with a view to burning them onto DVD using my Nero 7 DVD Burning Programes. I had 75% free space on my hard drive at that time. Many of these video's were flv format so I had to download and install a flv to mpg video converter programme. After converting the video's from flv to mpg so that Nero would accept them and making up the music video compilation using Nero 7 I noticed that I had only 4% free space left on my hard drive. So I couldn't get on with the second compilation. Nero told me I needed more hard disc space. I then deleted all the music video's I no longer needed, both the flv versions and the converted mpg versions
View 7 Replies View RelatedSome of my drive letters have been changed except my hard disks' drive letters, I have double SmartMedia and double CompactFlash I/II icons in My Computer, my CD-ROM icon is incorrectly associated with the CompactFlash I/II name in My Computer, my DVD-ROM icon is no longer visible in My Computer, and I can't assign drive letter F to my DVD-ROM drive in Disk Management because it's being used by CompactFlash I/II, though it's not listed there; all problems after uninstalling Nero DiscSpeed. Note: My CD-ROM and DVD-ROM are listed in Device Manager without warning icons. I've tried Doug Knox's CD-DVD Fix tool and deleted the LowerFilters registry entry.
