I got a new computer in August and stopped using this one mentioned - decided I needed it in another room and tried to start it.When I turn it on, nothing on the screen of the monitor - a noise comes from the tower - like a beep or alarm for 2-3 seconds then silent for 1-2 seconds then the beep again - until I turn it off.

But nevertheless, I figured I'd ask.BTW I'm really not sure that this even goes here. But I didn't know where to put it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst time user, and at my whit's end with my computer. Bear with me as my computer knowledge is very limited. I have a Gateway 2.8 GHZ celeron with 1GB of ram. I also have a Radeon Video Card (forgot the exact model). I went to activate my computer from standby mode and it would not come up. I did a hard reboot and when windows came back up it was real slow and the computer monitor did not "turn on" until it entered windows. It seemed to be in safe mode. No icons were available on the desktop and the background I had was reduced in size and surrounded by the basic green background color. The other colors are also screwed up, the seemed very basic. I was able to get McAfees to come up and am currently running a virus scan. The start button with it's options is available but with very limited use. I tried a system restore, but the window would not appear. Whatever I open seems to open the window on the far left side of the screen beyond the reach of the mouse. Bottom line is the computer is, for the most part, inoperable.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI Installed Windows XP profesional 64 SP1,fresh Install, all was going Ok , the partitions were done ok , I made the boot floopy disc cuz it is a new System and formated the hard drive I installed drivers for the system ,but i noticed I was no getting sound since the staRT I though i was goin to be able to fix it forward as I was going trough the drivers etc. I opened Device Manager and saw I ther was a device with trouble,was the "MicrosoftUAA drivers for High Definition Audio" ok so I update drivers and Instal drivers from Motherboard disc . XP profesional was working OK Installed with no troubles , so when i read the "REBOOT for Changes so drivers came in efect ,OK so turn off the computerthen I decide install the new video card Ati Radeon PCi -E in that instance

There were no widescreen options. It should choose the monitor's native resolution on its own if the monitor is an LCD.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a older Imb laptop modle T23 computer and when I shut it down rather then using standby it takes several times trying to get it to come back on. I press the little round on/off button and the (z) button lights up and I hear the fan turn on and all of a sudden a series of beeps, and the screen won't turn on. The beeping is like 8 beeps, then stops but still nothing come up on the screen. Completely black! So i turn off the computer again, and turn on same thing. I continue doing this like 30+ times sometimes more sometimes less, then finally the beeps dont start and the screen is working. So needless to say its still working in the mean time, but its just such a pain if I shut it down. . For now I am just going to continue using standby but when I have updates sometimes i need to shut down.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell E207WFP Flat Panel monitor on a Dell Dimension E520 computer with TONS of memory and which is about a year and a half old. It has been working absolutely fine until Sunday - my son left the computer on overnight, and when he went to turn it off the next morning there was a blue screen error but I couldn't read it because the letters were all jumbled.It's just a blank screen, and then the Auto-Detect comes on and puts it in power save.
I've been trying to troubleshoot from another computer, Dell's tech sites told me to check this and check that, but since I can't even get Windows to start up.
I'm wondering if as a starting point I should try to reinstall Windows? Or try to boot up from the disk?

It tells me "Please select the operating system to start. So I choose XP Professional, then instead of coming up in the normal windows screen I have this little start up screen in the middle of the monitor. The color is all jacked up and so is the images.

View 10 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was trying to use the Live edition of Linux SUSE 9.1 on my old computer so I took the cord from my newer computer monitor and plugged it into my old computer, then it just said [Hz] ? So I plugged my monitor back into my newer computer and all it does is show the Sony logo and then the Windows XP Loading screen, then after that the monitor gos blank and the green light blinks next to the power button.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI also have been using a Dell 19" LCD (normal) monitor...using the analog connector rather than the digital one.When I hooked up the Samsung this afternoon, I got the desktop and installed the drivers because although the screen looked fine, I had a black 3" wide strip down the right hand side so the desktop wasn't full screen. I used the buttons on the monitor to make that adjustment and immediately everything 'stretched' to the right and the icons and fonts looked elongated.I have to tell you also that I normally use 1024x768 for my resolution. Using digital connector I remember it automatically went to the largest resolution available and everything was so tiny not only on the desktop but also on the net that I couldn't see anything. Digital would not let me readjust back down so I went back to the analog. The wide screen LCD is also using analog.

Whenever I go to turn it off it doesn't respond, so you have to keep going to start-turn off-turn off over and over again. Either that happens or when I try to turn it off I get the 'End Now' program box coming up with something about ending ccAp, the odd thing is that yesterday it shut down without a problem, which is the first time in a few days that it's done that, and today it's gone funny again! What I want to do is view the computer on my external monitor, so I can transfer some files to another computer--but I can't see to change the settings. Can this be done just using 'keystrokes' or is there some other way?FYI: I bought this computer from BestBuy. It was quite expensive in 2003. recently, I brought it back to have it repaired. The Geek Squad wrote up a work order and charged me a $238.00 non-refundable deposit (as the warranty was no longer in effect). They told me they'd have to send it to California to be repaired.

A couple of days ago I developed a soft pink and green surround on the monitor screen, heavier at the screen edge and fading to nothing an inch or two from the edge, normal colors within this area. I have tried variations in settings, resolution etc but nothing I have changed has affected the problem.
