bit past the right and bottom edges of the monitor screen. things like my Netscape and IE browsers don't seem to run over when maximized, and my toolbar seems ok as well. I'm running Windows XP on a Compaq Presario 5012US with a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 420 video card. The screen resolution I'm currently using is 800x600, and adjusting this setting up or down does nothing to fix the problem. I just updated the drivers for my video card, and windows is up to date as well. I'm totally stumped on this. Awhile back I was having bigger problems with my display when I was also running my TV as a second monitor,
I'm running a NEC MultiSync XV17 monitor also.
Display screen is is tilted 90 degrees to the right, so instead of my screen showing horizontally it is displayed vertically. In other words, you have to set the flat monitor screen on its side to view your display. I ran Norton Antivirus and there were 5 items that I couldn't delete including TBPS.exe.
I have a Dell E207WFP Flat Panel monitor on a Dell Dimension E520 computer with TONS of memory and which is about a year and a half old. It has been working absolutely fine until Sunday - my son left the computer on overnight, and when he went to turn it off the next morning there was a blue screen error but I couldn't read it because the letters were all jumbled. It's just a blank screen, and then the Auto-Detect comes on and puts it in power save. I've been trying to troubleshoot from another computer, Dell's tech sites told me to check this and check that, but since I can't even get Windows to start up. I'm wondering if as a starting point I should try to reinstall Windows? Or try to boot up from the disk?
When Windows adds a new monitor using the standard driver, can it detect the aspect ratio? When I hooked up mine, all the resolution choice were for 4:3 monitors. There were no widescreen options. It should choose the monitor's native resolution on its own if the monitor is an LCD.
I have an older IBM 10in screen thinkpad running Win2000. Turned it on for the first time in a while the other day and the windows sign on screen is off the right and it is like I am on dual monitor. Can slide pointer to right and get to one side with startup menu then slide pointer back to left for icons. When put a screen saver on in tile mode, it duplicates it side by side but you have to scroll left to see both. Have gone into display and tried to change things but nothing works. When I go to settings, it shows only one monitor but says display [Multiple monitors} on silicon Motion LynxEM+.
when I turn on my pc, the monitor doesn't show anything at all. I have no idea what casue the problem. Even I have the video card replaced, it doesn't solve the problem.
I don't think is the monitor problem as I tested the monitor from other pc and it works perfectly.
I'm running windows Xp and i shut down my computer and restart it like your supposed to and then when i restart my monitor is blank yet i can hear all of the sounds of start up. So i shut it down again and i still come up with a blank screen and now i'm using a external monitor to view my desktop. Now when i look at my laptops monitor i can vaguely see what i'm doing at all and the external monitor is fine. Also my laptop is creating alot of heat.
Display image was zoomed in and would not fit my monitor. Actually it is running on television with a Geforce 7800. someone was watching a dvd on it and thats the last I know of it working.
Is there a feature in the display properties that allows you to zoom in and out? There is a missing width about as wide as two taskbars around the whole screen.
Pc with GFXCEL motherboard, i removed and formatted the harddisk after which i returned the harddisk back to the pc...it boots but won't display on the monitor...i have tried options but it still won't display...i put in an external VGA caed but it stikll does same...im a little lost and i need to use it soon.
my darn gateway monitor screen is too wide. How do i reduce it to the regular size? I pressed Ctrl and held down on the scroll lock and nothing happens. i tried to reset it with the monitor button but nothing happens.i can not view the right side graphic on my monitor
Is there a way to adjust the brightness of my monitor other than using the Menu/Controls that are on the monitor (using a SyncMaster 172n). I calibrate my monitor using Pantone Huey, having set the brightness / contrast both to zero, but it is still too bright. I went through the Control Panel > Display settings but didn't see anything. Maybe it's hidden somewhere?
The horizontal and vertical on the menu. can't resize them - need a wider frame...don't know much about computers so your help is appreciated. can't afford to send it to the shop much less buy a new one. I have a dell dimension 3000 / windows xp
When i extend desktop to 2nd monitor it works very well, however i don't see my taskbar and stsrt button. I look back on main monitor and the taskbar is there but no desktop icons. How do i get both on monitor #2. Also can i use my TV via the S-video connection as a monitor without having the 1st monitor attached? My tv is 5yr old Mitsubishi that does not have DVI or VGA inputs. The PC is new Media Center HP with Nvidia vid card to allow TV out. It has only S-video and DVI and 1 VGA outlet, no composite out. I tried S-video out via red blue and green adaptor but could not get signal with RCA connection.
my monitors display went haywire, screen resolution is 800x600 ,dpi is 96 when i adjust my monitor settings for verticle alignment to 100%, and the horizontal alignment to 100%, then the display is way over the monitors borders, so then i adjust the display to about 50% for horizontal and verticle alignment, now the display is just to the edge of the monitor but the text in the middle of the screen is fine, the text to the left and right edges are very condensed, squeezed, because i squeezed down the verticle and horizontal alignment to 50%,
Display is mirror image and reversed, top to bottom and left to right. I imagine he keyed a function key command to do this, but I don't know how to get it back to normal. Just restarting isn't doing it.
My screen has been "morphing" its size. It get's so bad that I can't even see the bar on the bottom of the desktop (with the "start" button) as well as the title bar on full screen windows. It's odd though, because last night I tried changing my theme from Classic to Windows XP hoping to fix this, but it didn't. So I kept it at Windows XP though, and I changed the Screen Refresh Rate to 70 Hertz. That fixed it temporarily, then this morning, I turn on my monitor and the screen is morphing again, and it gets me dizzy sometimes Then, I turned the monitor off, and on, and now its fine.
My mouse isn't working and the cursor wont display on the screen. The screen i am at looks like something like this http://www.buildeasypc.com/pics/windows_xp/winxp15.jpg but the message says "the file spxcoins.dll" on (unknown") is needed type the path where the file is located and then click ok, but i cannot click ok, because the cursor wont display on the monitor.
Background being dark, therefore, we are not able to view the game / images in the game.... this happened after my son did a (alt-tab) between WOW and a background program - when WOW was brought back up the screen darkened..... we have not been able to brighten the monitor screen since that incident and it is becoming a pain since we can no longer view online or computer images probably due to a darkness that over shadows everything.
The whole display on the monitor has completely rotated a quarter turn and although everything else seems to be ok you really have to turn your head sideways or lie down to read it. Difficult as it is a desktop running XP Home system.
I have a freind witH MS (multiple sclerosis) and I told her I would help her find out how to print a document with black ink when herdisplay is set up to show a white font on a black back ground (to enable her to read it, as her eyesight is failing). Is there a way to set this as the default mode - so that she doesn't have to do something special each time she prints a document?
I have installed a copy of office 97 in my newer computer that is operating WinXP home SP1. The program appears to work correctly, but it effects the monitor resolution.Everytime I use a component of Office 97, like MS word, the screen goes blank for a second and then comes back , but the resolution is now operating at 8 bit instead of 16 or 32.
I installed windows xp on my hardrive from my other computer and then took the hardrive out of it and installed it into the hp pavilion 533w tower.I turned the pc on and when I do,I don't get any moniter display. The only thing that happen is the light on the front of my pc tower blinks irratically, and all 3 of my keyboard lights blink on and off and keep doing so at the same speed as the light on my pc tower. Does anyone know how that I can fix this issue? Or does someone have the original restore disk(s) for this 533w computer?
On my Dell 8250, I added a 1800 Flat Panel display and when I went to load the drivers, I found the Properties button greyed out. I went to device manager and no monitor was listed not even the Default Monitor. I've looked all over and can't find a clue on how to ungrey the Properties button.

I use a Dell LCD Monitor and every time I have tried to format and reinstall XP on my hard drive I go to my Monitor section and the Monitor Properties are shaded out thus making me stuck with the default crap that XP put on for my comp. I have the drivers I need for my monitor but the frackin thing wont let me use them.
I got a new 19"LCD Acer monitor, from the first day, anything thats written in black is not displayed clearly, like some letters are dark and some are light anything thats in color is not that noticeable.
