Virus Preventing Internet Access - Installed Norton Internet Security
Aug 5, 2005I think that I have a virus which is stopping me from 1) Installing Norton Internet Security 2005 properly, and 2) Stopping me from accessing all anti-virus related sites, for example - www.symantec.com, ww.grisoft.com, www.pandasoftware.com, and when i tried to download AVG 6.0 from another site which was unrelated to antivirus, I found that I could access the site but the download failed.

My DSL provider's tech support couldn't figure it out, so I'm posting to see if any of you can help. The only thing out of the ordinary that has occurred since the attempt, is the repeated notice that both IAMAPP.exe and bcont module have experienced difficulty, and must shut down. I had never received either message before.

May 12, 2005I have an xp Home Edition Computer on a wireless network with 3 user accounts. I want to prevent one user (child) from accessing and using one web site. ( AIM.com). I thought of uninstalling AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), but that would not totally resolve the problem. The child can still reconnect to the web and re-download the program again. How can I configure the xp computer to prevent such access and usage of AIM without affecting the privilages from the other users (Adults) to use the same IM?

Nov 19, 2006After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.

Apr 3, 2005computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Mar 16, 2007i got windows xp home and im unable to enter my desktop or login, when i start up i get to the windows xp home logo and the process bar, but after that everything turns black and stays that way forever.i can't enter safe mode, the computer simply dont let me, i tap the safe mode options key, f12 for me, not f8, but the screen never shows up, it's like it doesnt register the key is there, i can tap f8 to get the booting options and f1 for bios options, but not the safe mode.
this happened after i found a virus in winlogon.exe, the AV deleted it and that is when things got messed up, although i have done this before actually, but then i just repair installed windows and everything went back to normal, but when i try this now, it doesnt work, it installs windows all over again, the blue screen and the yellow progress bar, but when it's suppose to reboot and then continue the installation

I have been looking for the program for a very long time, and I was angry that it didn't work. So I allowed the infected program and then the it disappeared. The icon disappeared. I knew I shouldn't have done it, but nothing bad happened to me for about a day. Then, my laptop was slower than normal, internet connection was slow (I'm right next to the router too), and I was getting pop-ups. I tried to do System Restore, but all my restore points were gone! I couldn't even switch months! Also, Automatic Updates was telling me that it was off, but when I checked my settings were the same when I first set them.

Mar 17, 2009I'm running XP Home Edition. A few days back I contracted one of those viruses that hi-jacks IE, but I was able to catch it before it completely installed. I used Malwarebytes, AVG and SuperAntiVirus to get rid of it and (after several scans) I'm now pretty certain that my system is 100% clean.Nevertheless, under the one user account that was infected AND in Admin (Safe Mode), programs like IE, Firefox, and Rhapsody can no longer find an Internet connection. Also Malwarebytes and SuperAntiVirus can't find their respective update servers. However, Bittorrent and Outlook still work fine and I can still ping IPs and Web addresses from the command window. The other odd thing is that one user account (on the same computer and that does not have Admin privileges) is still working perfectly.

However, once I click the 'change/move' button to delete the program, it required me to reboot before deleting but on reboot, no deletion of the program took place. Aug 14, 2007My computer is infected. I have ccCleaner, Spybot, Ad-Watch, Ad Aware, Windows live onecare. I have ran them all but I am still having problems. When I log onto Internet Explorer I get a blue screen that tells me I need to reset my security settings in order to view my home page which is road runner. I followed the instructions and nothing. I cannot view any flash sites. I tried to see if I am missing a flash player and I cannot locate one. When I try to download Adobe Flash Player, I am unable to do so as the download button does not appear on my screen ( I know where the button is supposed to be because I checked out the site on my daughters computer,which I am on now). I also tried to download other software to help with the spyware and malware, however the minute I hit download I either instantly get disconnected from the internet or I get an error message that says " Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must shut down...". I have gone into safe mode and ran spybot and the others and still no better.
