IDE Controller Is Not Compatible
Dec 28, 2005While trying to upgrade from Windows 98SE to XP professional I get a compatibility message that says upgrade is blocked because my HPT366 ultra ATA/66 IDE controller is not compatible.Is there anything I can do, such as a driver upgrade?

Jul 14, 2010Oh boy I hope that you can help me please? The only [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]driver[/COLOR][/COLOR] I need and cannot find anywhere is a Video Controller (VGA Compatible) for an old computer.
Have been given a HP Pavillion a6220a and put in my old Hard drive with XP PRO on it. Amazingly Ididn't even have to format it as once I popped it in everything just came up on the screen to my amazement! Worked well except for this annoying popup telling me 'Found new Hardware' etc. I don't have the original discs either as everything was preloaded. Have tried about 20 different things and no luck. Nothing on the HP site either. Did a [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]Intel[/COLOR][/COLOR] Chipset Utility test and I have:
945 Express Chipset Family
Graphics: Intel 82945G/GZ Express
I have downloaded the above chipset (didn't install it all though as everything else is fine and updated) and it still wasn't able to find the driver from the disc????
Thanking you in advance for your amazing knowledge with these things i'f you could post a link I would appreciate it. I am wanting to give this to my daughter as her old computer has died and currently can't play any games hardly without the driver.

Oct 26, 2007I have a Gateway 7422GX which as a Mobility Radeon 9550. I repaired windows using the cd because I restarted my computer and it was either going to take 7min+ to boot, or just wasn't going to. I got stuck at the windows splash screen. I'm using windows professional. Whenever I try to install any of the drivers, I get the same error message: Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit.

Apr 1, 2009I have been trying to install a new version of XP on my computer mainly because I can't handle 64 bit and it's refusal to be compatible with my wireless card. First of all, I do not have a registered version of the 64 bit due to no internet connection which didn't allow me to register my copy and in turn locking my computer unil I do so. My friend gve me a copy of XP pro SP3 and I want to install it, but I have a few issues. How do I delete the old OS? How do I install the new one? I have been having some problems with opening the bios and what not, I am using ASUS P5N73-AM mobo. I really need help with this, because it is limiting my use of the computer, a brand new computer which I have not been able to consistently use since the time I bought it.

Apr 4, 2006I found out that suddenly all my hard drive-related activity weren't working right, like copying to and from the main drive were almost as slow as USB1 connection and hogged the CPU, only in kernel times whereas any transfer made between external drives, be they USB or Firewire, functionned normally.This malfunction came sometimes with grinding noises from the drive and after a while a system lockup with a blue screen that displayed two types of message, I'll have to look them up again but one mentions a kernel stack error.At first I thought of a hardware failure but this theory got dispelled after I reinstalled XP on another partition on the same drive and noticed everything worked normally. When I activate the old partition and XP install, the problem remains. I checked and tried to update the controller drivers but they all seemed to be unchanged and up-to-date.my config consists of XP SP1 French, on a Laptop with one drive - ask me for more specifics if needed.

Mar 26, 2010I need to track down drivers for my Packard Bell Imedia 3082 XP Pro service pack 3 desktop. I have been to the packard bell support/drivers site and found 5 out of 7 missing drivers. I had tried the suggested site previously but when i clicked on download products i kept getting a "server not found message". Tried it yesterday again and it worked so thanks to the people who suggested that. Problem now is I am still missing my ethernet controller driver and my multimedia controller driver. I dont know the exact device details in order to download the two missing drivers. to tracking down the ethernet and multimedia controller. I have downloaded and installed the multimedia driver from the Pack Bell Imedia 3082 site but still it is yellow with exclamation mark. And i still cant connect to my Belkin router. So in brief: I need the device details to my ethernet controller and multimedia controller so that i can track down the drivers.

Apr 28, 2005i'm new on this forum but i've been reading the posts around for a while.. right now i need help with my computer. i installed windows xp pro sp2 beta (5.1, build 2600) and now i need to remove this sp2 cuz it's screwing up my directx... i cant install directx 9.0c as the installation just goes extremely quickly and nothing actually was installed... after hours of searching i concluded that it was the beta version of sp2 that was causing the problems. the sp2 was slipstreamed (i think) with xp on the disc so i cant uninstall it using add/remove programs, i cant find C:WINDOWS$NTServicepackUninstall$ or anything like that, and i after removeing CSDVersion in HKLMSoftwareWindows NTCurrent Version, it was just backed up.

Jul 21, 2008running an AMD Athlon XP 2600 I know, kinda old, but he only plays Diablo II on it anyways) and I found a 3200 chip for it for cheap, so I bought it, and installed it. Now, this CPU was in working condition when I bought it. I removed the old thermal grease, applied new stuff, and installed it. It isn't running hot, only around 28C. When I boot XP, it will get to the loading screen, and the green bar will go across once, and then it BSOD's with the Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area screen. It will quckly restart after flashing the BSOD It took a while to figure out what the BSOD said, I had to take a video and play it back frame by frame

Now when I am trying to install XP on my computer it says that my hdd doenst have windows compatible partion & I need to partition again. I have tried deleting the partion & creating a new one & I still get the same error. I have formatted the hdd in fat32 & NTFS still I am getting the same error. I have tried windows XP with SP2, Windows XP x64 bit both. Still I am getting same error. Also from the bios setup I have enabled 32 bit data transfer but still no change.
