I just updated everything. My mobo drivers, my bios, my video drivers, my audio, everything. As soon as i updated my bios my computer reset for no reason and then it sounded like it was loading up but nothing happened. I turned off and tried again, the fan turned on the cd rom was spinning but no POST, no beeps. The only way it works is if I pull the power cord out for like 5 secs so that the light on the mobo goes out. Then I put it back in and it works but after I shut it off again it does the same thing

I am using a DSL connection with a maximum download speed of upto 2MBPS but i usually recieve it for about 1-1.5MBPS. I have tried using Download Accelerator softwares to increase my speed but wuth those some spam also come into my computer so i am not using it anymore. Is there any way by which i can increase my internet speed by doing some changes in Windows internally. Also while using sharing sites my speed tends to fall to about 45KBPS.

once the on button was pushed, it came up with the BIOS screen asking for the password.I removed the CMOS battery, which allowed me to change the Password so I can get onto BIOS now. However, when I boot now it just comes up with the BIOS screen.I set HD to boot first, aswell as setting the clock and date. I then ask it to save and quit, after which it shut's down, and reboots, only, BIOS keeps coming up. And I need to get this sorted asap

I have had windows XP Pro installed, updated and running fine until about a week ago. I was away from home for about a week and left the machine plugged into the mains but powered down. When I returned home to boot up, it kept doing things like constantly hanging on parts of the bios POST screen, eventually booting up after thirty or so complete restarts. It finally booted into windows but after the last shutting down, it will now not boot up at all. I have replaced the bios battery and reset the bios several times.

When I turn on my computer, it does the bios check, then goes into the bios screen on its own. I have checked all of the bios settings, and see nothing set wrong. The only way I can get itno my xp pro system, is to use "F8" during the bios check, the select my hd from there, then it seems only half of my programs work, and it also seems to be randomly changing the programs that do not work, when I do this.

Got a bit of a problem with my housemates pc.A friend gave him some extra RAM, i checked it out and it was crucial 512mb pc2100 CL2.5, and although it didn't match his exsisting RAM it seemed to me that his mobo would only run the FSB at 200mhz anyway so i went ahead and fitted it.It worked fine I then noticed his system temp was running a little high (60-65 degrees), so i took his heatsink off and cleaned the dust and refitted it with some new thermal compound.I added too much and the temp went up. To nearly 90 degrees.I shut it dwon as i didn't want the cpu to pop, cleaned it off, reapplied less compound and figured this would work fine. Now we have the problem. Most of the time: Power on and nothing happens. No bios, no beeps. Occasionally: Power on, i jump into the bios, the temp looks fine (30-40 degrees) and then it freezes right there in the bios after about 30 seconds to a minute. This sounds like a heat issue, but the last temp reading before freeze is 33 degrees.?I've double and triple checked that the heatsink is on properly and thats fine. I followed the official guide on how much compound to use (a blob the size of an uncooked short grain of rice).

Im new to PCs and since my motherboard is three years old is it a good idea to upgrade? I contacted the maker of my motherboard and they say an upgrade is available and sent it to me for { DON'T CRACKUP} $49.00. I already read that you can really mess up your PC if you do one thing wrong when upgrading. Am I a fool for buying the upgrade? Please let me know as I can send the Floppy discs back.

After the BIOS load, I get a "MBR error 2" message and it just stays there.
My board is an Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe. I used the Asus Update Utility to flash my BIOS.

I've always kept my pc up-to-date with all MS patches, and never had any problems. All seemed well after the SP3 installation, until recently. After logging in as 'Administrator', I was asked to 'active windows in the next few days'. I had no problems in doing so (as I'm running a legitimate version of Win XP Pro). I then got a window that said 'Windows is already activated'.All seemed well, then I went to logon last night, again I was asked to 'active windows', when I clicked OK, the system logged me off.My one solution was to boot to safe mode and remove sp3.When I rebooted the pc, all seems well.My question what caused this, and how do I prevent it from happening again? I want to re-install SP3, but am afraid that eventually windows will not let me in at all.

Using old AMD 350 MHz back-up machine lately, out of necessity. Several diagnostic apps, such as Belarc Adviser are reporting it to be 175 MHz. The boot menu is saying 350. Why is this happening, and what can I do to get my 350 MHz. chip to be seen for what it actually is? It's bad enough that I'm forced to use the old boy right now, but I'd be a lot happier if the diagnostic apps were seeing it for what it is.

I have a new computer that i just built. It has a Biostar I945PA7 motherboard, with an intel Pentium D (dual-Core) 3.4 GHz 800 Mhz FSB 2x2 MB L2 Cach Processor, a CoolMax Cr-550W ATX2.01 Power Supply, a 80 GB 7200RPM Western Digital Hard Drive, an eVGA2n25 nVidia GF 6200TC 256MB(512MB) video card, and a sony 18x18 Dual Double DVD-RW, and i have 2GB Corsair DDR2. I am running windows xp professinal and have not installed any other programs or drivers.First, I had a very difficult time installing windows xp professional. During installation, it has turned off unexpectedly and gave no error messages. Then once I was able to get windows xp installed, it installed it with a password. I then re-formated the hard drive and re-installed windows and finally it installed properly. Now, I have been trying to download drivers for the video card at the eVGA website(http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/....asp?switch=2),

I'm really confused about the whole 32/64 bit issue. I use Gibbs CAM at work and need to get a new desktop system built for it. When I call Gibbs they recommend building the new system based on the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor and running the Windows XP Professional OS. They maintain this configuration really works great and operates better than an Intel 32 bit system. They said ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THE WINDOWS XP PRO 64 BIT VERSION as it does not run well and I will have compatibility issues with Gibbs and possibly other software even if I am operating in legacy mode. Gibbs, by the way, does not support 64 bit.

So my laptop crashed the other day, and it couldn't get past the windows loading screen, so i was able to back everything up to my ext. hard drive through the command prompt and system restore my computer. Ive had to restore it once before and everything went smoothly... but this time.. when it would be reinstalling the original software, it would give me error messages that files could not be found. Once I got through all of that, and got my desktop screen back and everything appears to be working again... my computer acts like somethign is wrong with the processor. The main thing is that my mouse gets hung up.. like the computer is thinking too hard. Ive watched the system processor.. and the system idle... keeps going up to 99%. I think something is wrong with my computer... can anyone help me figure it out? Is it a hardware problem? Thanks!

I'll make it short.I bought an SSD for FASTER booting times and it's just AMAZING. Though i'm still not satisfied with some things. I switched to winXP due to some issues in windows 7. Here when i restart the PC, when the Windows Splash screen appears, the PC remains IDLE for like 5 seconds. I mean its IDLE, No processor usage/ No HD usage/ and NO Service loading. It's just annoying me. And right after 4 seconds the SSD picks up and the desktop comes up INSTANTLY.
