I have a Toshiba Satellite A15-S129 that i bought a couple of years ago. When i go to start up, it shows the windows xp loading screen. But it then flashes a black then blue screen for a split second. The computer shuts down then starts up again and does the same thing, over and over.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
Any ideas?

Even since my last windows update, it became awfully slow and it started giving me blue screen errors at boot time .once in a while. I would say that about 1 in 2 times, it wouldn't boot. Then I would try "last known good configuration" or just start normally and after a few tries, it would work. But since the last windows updates this morning (july 13th), I cannot boot without getting a blue screen error. The best I can do is boot in safe mode about once very two tries.

I have decided that I will need to reload windows but have several very important files on hard drive that I need to get off first. As it stands, I have 2.5" drive loaded into external hard drive enclosure. Only problem is that 2.5" drive has drive letter of C: like every other computer I have in my house. Is there anyway to change this letter to view files via usb enclosure? Any way to change drive path of C: volume on any other computer?

She has a Toshiba laptop that only once in a blue moon will boot into windows so she decided to reformat it.She put in the Toshiba recovery DVD and its definitely booting up from the DVD but shortly after the loading message comes up she says she gets a blue screen saying something about plug and play.I tried searching goggle for errors about the recovery DVD but nothing that seems to connect to her problem. there is nothing connected to it.

Wanna see if we can get some help.He has windows 2000.you turn it on and it goes through every thing and then you put your password in and get to the desk top and all that is ok, when you click to get on the internet it would flash a blue screen and then shutdown. Also i tried to delete Windows messenger Live in the the control panel under add remove windows components i deleted internet explorer by mistake and had to reinstall it. The last time it didn't shut down but i got a blue screen that said Windows has detected a software or hardware problem and has shut down to prevent damage,check any new hardware or software that have been recently installed, the error massage was " IRQL_NOT LESS_OR_ EQUAL. For last month at the startup sometimes PC start up ok, but before XP logo comes, the whole screen goes black and only one flashing dash at the top left corner of the screen. Turinign on and off the PC couple of time make the PC startup ok and every thing works fine. His automatic update is on and is getting all the updates from Microsoft auomatically.

I then tried to boot in fail safe mode to scan the computer for viruses, no problems at all. No viruses found either. After that i tried to start it normal mode again this time the screen became distorted with the my background picture as palette. After that i tried to boot in VGA mode and that worked as well perfectly. I really don't know what can be causing this.

I have to hit the reset button, it goes to the dos screen with the safe mode, etc. choices. I choose "start using last known good configuration" and I'm good to go. If I turn the computer off during the day and turn it back on, It works fine. It only hangs on the first start of the day.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI ran into a problem today with my XP system. While browsing the web, the graphics on my screen seemed to go crazy. There were all different colors of what appeared to be little tilde's (the character) on my screen. They generally were present where there had been a window that was open, and they would mostly be confined to the place of that window. e.g., if I opened the start menu and closed it there would be a patch of disfigured color in the rectangle where it was.
Anyway, I rebooted my system thinking that would fix it and saw a bunch of disfigured characters on my BIOS screen and while it booted in general (I included a screenshot of the character disfiguration at this point). It gets through to the Windows splash screen with the loading bar, and from there the screen goes black. The system and monitor are still on. I had the latest video drivers for my card.
