It seems like right about the same time I installed SP2 I cant get any video on my media players. I have tried ACE MEGA CODECS and SLD CODEC PAK neither to any avial. I surffed the web looking for a answer seems like I am not the only one with the problem but no one has a answer for me. I tried installing FFDShow as someone recomended but still no luck.
View 4 RepliesWhenever i try to play some of my video files (.avi, .mpg. wmv. etc) my shell and media player will both crash. For shells i have tried both bblean and standard explorer, media players i have tried are windows media player, winamp, and bsplayer. It dosent actually crash the program, it just brings up the little "this program needs to close" thing. if i drag it to the side the video will continue to play (somtimes). somtimes the videos wont load at all.

i use firefox and i hover over a video in Internet, and a button used to appear saying "download this video" with the real logo. now the button doesn't show up. i'm only interested in downloading legal, non-copyrighted stuff, of course.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.

I can play an DVD movie and the video works fine but I have no audio. I can play an music cd and the sound works fine. I tries it in media player and nero. Media player is a pain half the time it won't play an movie because of some rights problem. The movies are legal out of the store. I use to run a audio cable from the cd and dvd's to the motherboard in the old days, but haven't in a while because the audio would work either way. This is new MSI board with on board audio and works fine with music cd's but no audio on video's. I did get sound to work with movies but only after installing WinDVD7. I noticed that it installed a DVD Audio driver. Why don't the other programs have that like Media player, nero, realplayer. I thought that a fresh install and update of XP would have all the drivers for DVD as long as we have been using them

This is also the case with the two other players I use - Real and VLC. Having discovered the problem, I have downloaded some codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Co...k_download.htm in case the codecs are corrupt but it makes no difference.

This is true for any media player that I have tried. I have re installed both the media player and windows to no avail. I have checked the codecs and seem to have the most common ones (see below) I ran GSpot on one of the files and it said that I had the proper codec, yet it still won't play. I am sure it is a setting problem of some sort , but don't know where. Can you give me any help?

i have an image (bmp, jpg) size 800X600 its RGB color is 16,0,16. If I play a video in windows media player and then open the image with windows picture viewer, the image becomes transparent and the video can be seen. this always happens for the first video. If I have many videos lined up to run in a sequence, on some computers the transparency remains through out the duration of all the video, while on some machines every alternate video can be seen. An idea why the same happens. I need the video to be seen always with the image over it as a small part of the image contains a logo in white color.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows Service Pack 2, actually three times after reinstating my computer software to the original state by erasing and reinstalling the full software install CD on my computer's hard drive for Window XP Home. I have no problems playing games with my new FX 5200 Ultra video card by BFG, but I am at random times getting the annoying green screen that blanks out my videos I am streaming or playing(happens when I am streaming more often). Then after that happens usually, the computer reboots or shuts off. I never had this happen before.

When I connect it to my PC using either the fire wire or USB connections, and commence video capture using either WinDVD Creator (Version 2.0B014.183C2W) or Nero Vision Express 2, I get lots of audio breakup as the video is being captured and during playback in the editing function. When I use Movie Maker, I do not get the audio breakup (unfortunately MM doesn't allow me to create DVDs).I defragged my HD with no effect. Later this week, my brother will be bringing his Sony camcorder so I can see if I get the same results using the same tapes. In the meantime, does anyone have any idea why this is happening? What's frustrating is that I did not have this problem when using the same PC, software and a DAC-100 capture device connected to a VCR.
