Restore Desktop Shortcut Icon
Oct 25, 2006I had accidently deleted the desktop shortcut icon in the taskbar.I can not recover it back. Can anyone please help me how to recover back?

Desktop Icon Highlighted - Restore?

As best I can tell, there is no way to create a shortcut to do this nor is there a toolbar icon for this. I admit right-clicking on an empty space and waiting for the "New" menu is not an arduous task, but it seems it should be quicker and easier. Is there a one-touch way to create a new folder in XP Explorer?

Aug 27, 2008The problem is that the protocol indicated; that is, rt. click icon on desk top, properties and change icon is not available anymore on my system. It used to work that way but somehow no longer. Instead, going to properties give you no avenue to change icons.

Shortcut To System Restore?
Dec 9, 2005Is it possible to create a shortcut to the System Restore wizard where you can create a new restore point? I have a friend that is new to the computing world and he is driving me crazy with questions about the most basic things. I thought if I could put a shortcut to the wizard, I could just have him create a new restore point each day before doing anything and then I could help him roll backward if he messes something up. Then maybe he wouldn't be so paranoid to try new things.

The arrows DO show for internet shortcuts > I use FireFox 3.6.3.I can find A Lot of info on the net about "removing" the arrow... I would like to put it back. I looked into editing the Registry by going backwards form the found info, but there are too many conflicting instructions concerning Location and Values. It's better I leave it alone until I find what's correct. 'Tweak UI 2.10' has the correct Radio Button is selected.The Prefix "Shortcut To" does NOT show [used Tweak UI long time ago to remove it].

White Space On Desktop- Tried To Create A Shortcut
Oct 14, 2006I tried to create a shortcut of an email internet link onto my desktop and all I got was a small rectangular white box. Try as I might, I could not remove it. The box is adjustable and can be made to cover the entire desktop area behind the icons but over the current desktop theme. In my attempts to delete it I have ended up with a white box about an inch wide from the top to the bottom on the left side of the screen. I cannot reduce the size any further but as I said, I can drag the right margin all the way across the entire screen.
