We have 3 computers and have connected all 3 to a d-link router. The problem we are having is that only 2 comps will work online at one time. The other one gets an error message. Our system is windows xp and we have tried rearranging the cables but the problem stays the same.
I have three computers that i need to connect to each other and to my network. What I want to do is put 2 NICs in each of the three computers and connect Computer A to Computer C and Computer B to Computer C via crossover cable. The second NIC in each of the three computers will be used to connect each of the computers to my network
i have 4 computers in my home, all running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, they all have the Norton Anti-Virus/Internet Security 2005 Anti Spyware Edition installed also. My issue is that on one of my Desktop I cannot connect remotely to any of the other computers in my home
I have two Windows XP one Home, one Professional machines attempting to connect wirelessly to a vanilla Netgear access point. The XP Pro machine connects fine. The XP Home machine sees the Wi-Fi network, connects, accepts the password, and says it's connected -- but Web browsers and other Windows network apps will not connect to the Internet (they just hang for a long time before timing out). But If I open a command prompt, I can ping external sites and even use command-line ftp to connect to sites without a problem.I've gone over the network configuration of both machines and can't see any difference between the two. The Netgear access point doesn't have any kind of MAC address filtering turned on. Is there something I should be looking for that I'm missing? As an extra added strange data point I've tried to connect to the network via a Mac OS X machine and saw the same behavior as on the XP Home machine GUI-based programs won't connect, but command-line utilities will. Meanwhile, an Apple iPhone was able to connect and work perfectly.
I was printing some music and had to change my settings. After cancelling the printer, I tried to print with new settings,But the printer won't print because it says Off-line.I've tried right clicking the printer icon to put it On-line,But it continues to say off-line.How can i get it back on-line and printing again?
I have been wanting to purchase a smart phone or a pda, so I may review, answer emails and check internet sites while I am out of my home office. I have been told that pda's are slow. My current carrier is Cingular, and I do like the Treo 650 and don't mind paying $350 but the monthly charges are horrendous $45 for an unlimited data connect this is beyond your monthly voice charge. I am looking for alternative and I am willing to change carrier but don't know who to go with for less expensive charges. With technology where its at, I thought I'd be able to be constantly on, a la Dick Tracy through my watch.
I run win xp and have a nokia phone. all other folders on the phone seem to me accessable, but this one, and all non phone folders aswell. This would indicate a phone problem, but for old times sake I blame windows. Also, if there are other alternatives to windows explorer that would be a very efficient way to find out if there is any blame to be guided towards windows.
I have a Samsung VI660 phone for which I bought a data cable. I installed the drivers to give it the ability to act as a modem, and I'm able to connect to a dial up internet account using the cell phone as a modem. The problem is, I can't seem to get it send faxes, and I'm not sure if there is anyway to do this. I thought if the cell phone could handshake and establish an internet connection, it should also be able to handshake to establish a modem-fax connection. I confirmed that the fax machine I'm trying to send to is giving a handshake when the number is called. When I attempt to fax using the cell phone, I can see it dialing out, but it never establishes a connection.
I have rdwc working great using my laptop computer to access my work computer over the internet......after some small problems with set up.I do this using my DSL internet connection, however, when I try to connect using my cell phone internet connection it just times out.....never connects. The cell phone is accessing other internet sites fine. It just won't get to my work computer. I have checked the settings and they seem fine (firewall, router, etc..).
One thing is that whenever I plug in Camera/Cell Phone/PDA (except Flash drive ), it does not show up in My computer as a Removable disk. However I can see that removable drive letter from that little green arrow Icon from Start Menu Bar. I tried hitting that Drive letter in address bar. didn't work. I don't know what the problem could be. So I thought let me install SP3. cannot be installed because I have Latest remote desktop and MUI (something) update in my computer. If I want to install SP3, I'd have to remove that first.
I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Home edition. What is the phone number to call so I can talk to a live person because I need a new activation number. When I call the 1-888 number( from the activation setup) I get a computer voice. I know I need a new activation number because I had to get a new one about a year ago. I own the OEM WinXP home cd. just can't find the number to call.
I have recently bought myself a Sony Ericsson K750i and after removing the USB cable from the phone or from the computer my computer just restarts for no apparent reason. I have tested my phone on other computers and they work perfectly fine. I was just wondering if anyone heard of this before and know what it could be. BTW: I have tried it in diagnostics mode and it still restarts. I have also tried it in SAFE MODE where it doesnt restart (but it doesnt find the device either :P)
I want to be able to record and log phone conversations on to my hard drive. When I was using a modem I used a program called Modem Spy, this will not work with Broadband/ADSL and so on.I have tried a search on Google with limited results. What is the generic name given to these types of programs or bits of hardware?Better still, could someone throw a few websites my way remembering that most work only with modems, I have broadband.
What the heck is this? some Atlantic MG mt service Called the inegretel # said someone downloaded software, I DONT THINK SO. No one here but me, and I never downloaded anything. They said it came from the modem? Argued with them, cause nothing showing up on my end that is downloaded on this computer. Is their anyone that is familiar with this company and what the heck it involves. They told me they would take off 50% Haha I'm not paying for something I didnt do
When I was installing Windows XP SP3 on this computer, I received a notice that the installer couldn't find a specific file, but I was able to skip over it and resume installation. I received this notice when I installed Windows on another machine but this time looked it up and was able to find the file on the CD (don't remember the file name.). On the first computer, it seems like a lot of plug and play functionality doesn't work..specifically when I hook up my Creative Zen (MP3 player) or even Blackberry. I am unable to transfer files to or from these devices through Explorer like I can the other computer in which I did a thorough installation of Windows. I am also unable to update Windows Media Player, which could or could not be related. Is it possible the file I skipped over is what's causing this issue? Is there any way I can repair Windows or do I have to re-install?
My WMP (v11) has strated toc crash whenever I plug a memory stick or my MP3 player.I have loaded a Hotfix that's supposed to address this problem but it's still there.
I want to record and log phone conversations on to my hard drive using software only if possible. When I was using a modem I used a programe called Modem Spy, this will not work with Broadband/ADSL and so on and I no longer have modem fitted.I have tried a search on Google with limited results.Could anyone recomend or name a few products or their websites remembering that most work only with modems, I have ADSL
I recently installed windows Xp and SP2. But now when I plug a device into a USB port I don't get the pop up saying "detected new hardware". Also the new device (I pluged in a flash memory drive) doesn't show up when I open "my computer". I think the ports are working cause when I pluged in my iPod and then went into the BIOS the iPOd was listed as an option on the Boot configuration.
I recently had to uninstall my HP Officejet 5610. When I reinstalled my USB connection, an error screen tells me "the required section was not found in the INF." HP's diagnostic confirmed that the usb.inf file was in place but that the system was not accessing it, probably due to a digital signature issue. They said to reformat and reinstall WIN! I'm not techno savy to proceed, but a Windows reinstall seems extreme.
Just recently when I plug in the USB plug for my steering wheel, the cursor either vanishes or freezes. It never used to do that before.I was led to believe, some time ago, that you don't need to power down to insert a USB plug. Can anyone tell me why *all of a sudden* (last 3 - 4 weeks) this is happening? I'm running Windows XP home with a P4 speed 2.4 gHz and a healthy 1 GB RAM. I suppose this begs the question: what can I do about it? (besides leaving the USB plug in!
his roomate completey ruined the OS it wouldnt even boot to windows, It had a missing NTDLR, using a windows bootdisk I was able to reformat it and reload windows. Here is the odd part, the NTDLR.com and the NTDLR files are all in the root directory, andit still doesnt boot to windows without the startup disk, when I boot it up it says non bootable disk or non system disk then trys the CD roms then the floppy, yet i put the floppy disk in there and it magically works, and the files on the boot disk are the same as the files in the HD's root directory. So now I'm thinking something is wrong with the HardDrive not the NTDLR. I plugged another Hard Drive I had lying around with windows on it and made it the slave drive, and it worked fine, i could select both versions of windows(each 1 installation per disc) and the would both load, so Is there something before the NTDLR.
hi everybody.every since i install sp2 on my pc ,kazaa lite has a problem with connection.it keeps trying connecting but it reemains on trying, even if i let for 2 hours

I'm running on a e-machine T6520 MediaCenter PC. The system hangs up almost everyday.I have to pull the plug to shutdown just like the old days. Is their a methos for me to use to search out the problem cause?
