I have searched for an answer to my problem but have not been able to fix it. My pc restarts when I try to shut down and every time I get this stop error: stop error 0x0000008E (0X0000005, 0X8062A21D, 0XF77A7A50, 0X00000000) It also does a scan disk check every time I restart also. And it will not defrag.I have rolled back some drivers that I updated but that did not help. I have win xp and I have current antivirus and spyware programs.

I am testing all the hardware as we speak with PC-CHECK, the RAM seemed to pass all the tests. I can log in to safe mode and I tried restoring to a previous date and it worked for a while. I was able to uninstall the McAfee Antivirus which I thought might be the problem, but still BSOD...

we have reinstalled windows xp and drivers and nothing has worked. we also had a computer guy look at it and he said it was the harddrive. that was replaced with a new one and a reinstall of xp and drivers was done. and of course no help. i have a feeling from reading about errors that are similar to the ones i'm getting that i will need to check all the hardware by disconnecting and reconnecting. i'm hoping this is a software problem but that would be too easy for me.
After I used Fix-it Utlilies the program erased essential system folders. So now when I do check disk it reboots, flashes a blue screen real fast (so fast I can't even read it) then restarts the computer, restarts check disk, restarts the computer, and on & on. It won't stop doing this till I interrupt check disk at the start by hitting any key but then I end up with a black screen with instructions which include safe mode, safe mode with networking, start windows normally & last known configuration
I can't boot from an installation CD to do a "repair" since Windows was preinstalled in the drive so I have NO CD. Does system recovery work?, who knows, I'm a noob and have no idea how to use it. The only thing I've tried to fix it was 2 things : 1) use system restore which failed; 2) use run> sfc /scannow but this file checker is also broken and will barely start before it errors and stops. I don't know what else to do besides reformat
When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.
The family computer is playing up and to the best of my knowledge the computer in question just simply suddenly stopped working as it should. I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem.This is just the start of the problems. I get a whole host of errors which popup one after another.

I have tried system restore which is unsuccessful, I have done "last known good configuration" which also doesn't work. I'm in grad school and need my computer
the computer boots up and goes to the windows 2000 screen but then the next screen would be the desktop but instead it reboots and goes to the same spot the 2000 screen but never makes it to the desktop, this happens over and over. I tried to go into safe mode but does the same thing tried command prompt only so I could type in SCANREG but it just reboots again I can't get anywhere to do anything.
The last thing I tried was last known good configuration. I clicked on it and a page comes up with all the writing I hardly got a chance to read it when it reboot again. but under the first paragraph wher it says something about last know good configuration it has a space and the it says project 1 like I could have click on that if I would have been fast enough.
I am being shown "script error","page error, you may need to change browser
settings",and "behind firewall" when I try and send files and photos. I've
tried everything I know to fix this, but I still see these errors and still
cannot send photos while I'm online.
Do you like IE7 ? I downloaded it thinking it would be better .If I decide to go back to IE6 how would I do that step by step.Do you think I should keep it ?The print type looks a lot better.
I switched on this morning and after a few minutes the screen went black. I restarted and the screen remained black. I kept swtiching on & off then is started. I did a system restore and now it seems to work OK but the colores have changed, I get a yellow background and my word page is yellow. I have tried altering settings in display to no avail. I am typing this on a yellow page and still get a yellow page in word.

i am having a problem with my computer it keeps on switching off. I read the thread about it and i cleaned out the fan. It was clogged full of dust. In my bios, when i go to power, the the voltage meter 3.3V is at 4.08 and red. It has not changed since i cleaned it. When it first occurred it went back to normal level after i left it off for awhile. Have i got permanent damage and if so to what component would it be the power supply or the chip processor.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two accounts created on my computer which is running Windows XP Professional. One is the account I've been using for about 3 years, which contains all my personal information, settings, as well as 30 GB of media that is stored in the 'My Documents' folder.
The other account was created about 15 minutes ago. It contains nothing. I need to switch (if possible) all my settings, data, everything essentially; over to the new account. Is there a way to do this?
I had a Thrustmaster Dual Power 4 game pad, and bought a Logitech Rumblepad later. I like the Rumblepad better, and want to consider it my "first string" controller. But if I go into say, Nba Live 2005, and go to choose controllers, no matter what I do, the thrustmaster is on the top of the list, and the logitech is on the bottom. All the old posts talk about choosing Preferred device in the control panel. By running DxDiag, I can see that setting something as the Preferred Device assigns it Controller ID 0. But I also see that the order of the Controllers, as recognized by most games, is the same as the order listed in the game controller control panel, and is completely unrelated to which device is "controller id 0" and "preferred device." For example, I set the logitech as preferred device, and plugged in the thrustmaster and also a gamepad pro.

I do on the other hand have a Win2K prof. disk that i would like to install on this comp so that it can be used again. I was wondering if someone might be able to either tell me or point me in the right direction of getting this machine re-installed with the win2k op sys. i.e tutorials etc. I also do not have the bios install disk so the bios will need to remain the way it is.

When using Alt-Tab for Task Switching the menu aborts irregularly after an inconsistent amount of time rarely more than a few seconds.To re-state: I hold down Alt and then push Tab once while continuing to hold Alt. The menu comes up to show all current running programs. Then after a moment the menu exits just as if I had pushed the escape key.I have also noted that viewing the alt-text when doing a mouse-over on an image in my web browser is interrupted similarly.I have run my virus checker and Ad-Aware and found nothing. No sound bits, wav., game sounds. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat a pain. It says that upgrading from windows 2000 to XP home is not supported and when I go to reformat, it doesnt allow me to reformat the "partitioned space". It gives me no other option than to install XP on the same partition as Windows 2000, and then tells me it isn't advisable to do it. Whats up with that, and how do I get rid of 2000 so I can properly install XP home?I've unfortunately got XP partially installed, and when I reboot it will go to the black screen... but then asks do I want to start up with xp or 2000, so I start with 2000 and, well, frankly I am sick of this and just want it to install.If I'm going to screw around with this all the time, trying to keep these dang computers functioning, then I really need to take some classes, sheesh.

I have checked in my power settings and it is supposed to be set to always on, so have no idea why this is happining.

I have a fijitsu siemens PC running windows XP home (SP2), I have 2.4ghz CPU, 80G HD and 750 MB of memory. Whilst running for me as the administrator it is slowish but I can live with that. However, when my wife uses "switch user" her "section" once opened runs VERY slowly. Coupled to this when I switch back (even if she logs off) it crashes, I get a message when checking events that her part of the registry was still in use?
