I dled a game and installed (gta VC) and also installed "the all seeying eye" and "MTA version(i dont know)", during playing the game i encountered this massive lag/frame-skip every/approx 10 secs, i exited the game and found that the lag/frame-skip still continued, i reseted my computer and to find it was resloved, where after about 30-40 mins the continous lag came back, its starts of as small frameskips to over a long period of time (1 hour) unbearable frame skip as if the computer is running at full. I did a virus scan, adware scan, spy doctor scan, cws shredder scan and a hijack this scan. Only Spyware doctor found 700 things that it removed the most threatening thing a browser changing trojan/hijack thingy, still my comp has the constant lag/frameskip.

For the last two weeks my Dell (Presario 4600) is crashing on me daily with the following order:I hear quickly: one click from the tower. then a whirring noise like a CD ROM or DVD trying to start, then another click, then the computer freezes, and I have to manually turn it off. When I run my Dell Crash Analysis Tool it tells me there is a problem with the following: Crash Analysis Tool Scan Results Category: Application Drivers Driver Manufacturer tfsnifs.sys TFS Technology. Thing is..... I don't even know what this is or what program it is associated with.

Ignore the siggie info; the problem is on a separate computer, a Compax laptop. There is 256MB physical memory and 2GB virtual memory. The C: disk has heaps of room on it.
It has Avast AV, Spybot, Adaware and Spyware Blaster and uses the XP firewall. All are up to date and all come up clean when checked. I do a monthly defrag and have Easy Cleaner and empty unnecessary files and surplus registry entries monthly. Despite all this it seems to run abnormally slowly, particularly when bringing up onboard stuff like OE, IE and other programs. Downloading internet sites seem pretty reasonable.

I was online watching a Camtasia presentation when my laptop, an hp pavilion ze5500, suddenly crashed and a blue screen was thrown up. I've gotten the blue screen multiple times in the past 24 hours. One of the blue screen error messages was "kernel data inpage error".I just downloaded and ran Analysis Diagnostic for Windows XP and it returned this warning: THE SYSTEM RESTORE HELPER RETURNED A WARNING CODE hr=0x6 what this code means? What I need to do to repair my computer?

I am analyzing the data I have just collected from a survey, but encounter some problems from the use of MS Excel.for example:there is a set containing seven elements {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}. It is trivial that the Q1 is 2, while Q3 is 6, but MS Excel has got Q1=2.5, Q3=5.5. (The result can be gained by using Quartile Function)Can you explain why? I don't know if my MS Excel is not working properly?Q1 = lower quartile, while Q3 = upper quartile

I use firefox and down at bottom of screen just above taskbar there is another bar and when you put a url in the address bar up on top well in this bar above the task bar it says searching for and while it says this it shows that other urls are being searched at the same time. Way to the right of this is the little box with the green marks that show how fast it is loading. Well it takes forever to load a web page. For example the last time i just searched for a web page these came up---looking up wrapper. ign.com, looking up atax.ign.com, looking up ads.ign. com. I put one of these into google and there is something about squid analysis report generator which apparently tells the whole world where i go on the web.

I have tried to repair my XP but during the process it hangs at 35 minutes. After searching around for ages I do understand it is some sort of hardware problem. I accessed my BIOS and disabled hardware such as audio, usb legacy mode etc. I have been through the log and cannot work out what is wrong as the last bit the install was doing says it was completed successfully. I know one option is to copy the data from the HD and do a clean install however there are some files that were saved within the programmes itself and there is a crucial set of bookmarks I require which I did not export from the browser.

In a previous post, I mentioned that my network adapter is missing in action after a reinstall of XP on top of an existing Xp installation. I have been unable to identify my Mobo so that I can rectify this issue.Heres where I am today:
Using system analysis software recommended on this site, I discover that my Mobo chipset is manufactured by Viathe Via VT8367-8235.Unfortunately, the specific board manufacturer is not apparent. (I assume that Via sells chipsets to many potential board manufacturers.)So I go to Vias web sight. I assume they actually do MoBos as well as chipsets. My board isnt specifically listed there.

I scanned through the past posts and didn't see anything on this recently. (which surprised me.I'm running a Dell xps T500 with Windows XP SP2 and IE7 Browser. I'm on a home network (cable) with ethernet and using Norton 360 for the protection suite. I also have Webroot SpySweeper and all udpates have been completed. All current scans have been done as well. MS updates were installed via auto update and now IE 7 gives me the error "IE cannot display the webpage" which stops me from getting to any other website (so I can download Mozilla ). I have gone out to the MS site and run through the troubleshooting options there:1) Can't view another webpage2)Network diagnostics reveal no problems3)Reset the modem/routers4)Deleted Browsing History5)Used the No Add-Ons Mode6)Disabled Norton 7)Tested the connected in safe mode, still got the error8)No third party conflicts9)Checked the device manager for issues, and found none10)Finally, reset the IE defaults, rebooted and still got the stupid error

I did a quick search and read through the first 2 pages of hits but didn't find anything relating to my problem. If there's a solved thread, please point me to it.I'm running W2K and when my Norton subscription ran out I decided to get Norton Internet Security 2006. After installing it I noticed that it would act funny any time there was a hardware change. If I shut down my PC and swapped the RAM sticks around, or installed/removed a hard drive, when I went to start up the PC again it would reboot. It'll even do it if I forget and leave a USB cable in without anything attached at the other end. At first I couldn't figure out what was causing it, but I didn't mind much because it would just reboot once and that was that. But over the last few months it's gone from once to 2-4 times on average, and longer on occasion. It was through this process that I realized the reboot happens as Norton is loading.
Well, today I was having some issues with my video acting up I suspect it's from a failing memory stick so I opened up the case and removed the offending stick. But when I started it back up it wouldn't stop rebooting. I continued working on my work laptop and it continuously rebooted for about half an hour before I said forget it and booted into safe mode.Unfortunately, I needed to do some printing and of course printing doesn't work in safe mode. So I thought maybe I'd uninstall Norton it gave me an error saying it couldn't uninstall in safe mode. Very funny, I thought. since Norton is what's keeping me from being ABLE to boot into normal mode.

I recently had a problem with NPF 2005 that resulted in my uninstalling the program using the it's uninstall program. When I tried to reinstall the program, I discovered that the installer would not run. I have tried various methods to start the installer from the NPF 2005 install CD but nothing worked. The Symantic knowledge base suggested copying the CD to the hard drive and installing from the hard drive. This did not work either. I thought that perhaps the setup program has been corrupted so I tried the CD in a computer running Windows ME. The installer came to life and was ready to proceed with the installation. I did not attempt to complete the Installation, I only wanted to determine if the setup program had been corrupted. Does anyone have any idea why XP might not allow the program to run

My PC (Holly) bought in 2003 runs Windows XP(SP2). Also Norton Antivirus renewed annually/Norton Personal Firewall (2002), Mozilla Firefox.Up to now, have had no problems with the viruscan or the firewall, but I had to renew annual subscription to Antivirus and unable to download new Subscription from Symantec website (got error report with no explanation after putting in card details) so went and bought a disk of it (2007 version) from PC World. Was prompted to remove Symantec Personal Firewall when I started installation
I did remove it, with reluctance, thinking it might be difficult to reinstall the firewall and it is I have the original Symantec firewall disk, 2002 version, which came with PC. Anyway, I successfully installed the Viruscan 2007, then put in the disk for the Firewall to reinstall it.installation of firewall got message box with a red cross: NORTON INTEGRATOR: FAILED TO REGISTER FILE TYPES No other explanation,I did not know what else to do, I clicked it, it went way, and the installation proceeded. After all the installation tasks completed, I was asked to restart PC. My computer froze at that point. Would not close. Eventually I switched it off at mains, then restarted it in the usual way. The Norton Personal Firewall icon shows up and when I open it, it is not Enabled, neither can I get it to change to being enabled by clicking the button
