View 5 Replieswhenever I run a fullscreen program for example a game, or go into standby mode and then resume to my desktop the icons, the windows and text etc are all quite blurred and not so crisp anymore. I had recently bought my laptop which is a Compaq Presario C793VU Notebook PC and it had Vista on it but I don't really like Vista so I downgraded to XP and installed most of the drivers that I could find. I would take screenshots of before standby/fullscreen and after except when I did both the images looked the same. After I restart/turn off my computer the display is fine until I stanby or play a game.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using an elderly 3M LCD projection panel on an overhead prjector for big screen Tv, driven by XP pro SP3. The panel has no controls for vertical/horizontal size and whatever monitor is used, an OS desktop fills the screen by default. I can resize the window for the TV viewing program in the normal way, just filling my projection screen, but the XP desktop is far too large.Does anyone know of a way to change the physical size of the desktop (including the taskbar) so that it sits in the LCD screen with a blank border all around, or maybe even make it custom resizeable as in a program window ( without changing the resolution)?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows XP and for about 2 months (I guess) certain websites look funny. As an exmple, the background for Yahoo is white even though I have tried to change it to a theme that yahoo offers. The text size also is too big and all over the place- looks weird. I have tried everything I can think of but i am a novice and am wondering if there is some simple answer here or something else I can try? Is it XP or a problem with my browser? MSN also has only a white background with big letters that look awkward. If I try to change the background to blue, it won't do it. It's driving me nuts!

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy screen has been "morphing" its size. It get's so bad that I can't even see the bar on the bottom of the desktop (with the "start" button) as well as the title bar on full screen windows. It's odd though, because last night I tried changing my theme from Classic to Windows XP hoping to fix this, but it didn't. So I kept it at Windows XP though, and I changed the Screen Refresh Rate to 70 Hertz. That fixed it temporarily, then this morning, I turn on my monitor and the screen is morphing again, and it gets me dizzy sometimes Then, I turned the monitor off, and on, and now its fine.

When I my computer boots, the images, especially the fonts of the icon names, are blurred & out of focus. After a while it gets normal. Since once it got o.k. after I started defragmenting a volume, I am trying it everytime with success. However, maybe it's a co-incidence & the blurring goes away automatically after a time. Can this be a monitor problem? I am using a LG Monitor which is otherwise perfectly alright & a Win XP SP2 O.S.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI replace my old LCD monitors (Dell 1905s) with new acer P223w's. I have a dual monitor display.I power off both monitors with one switch that cuts off the power. When I do this however, Windows makes the sound like a device has been disconnected and it messes up my monitor settings. This is very annoying and it didn't happen with my other monitors nor does it happen on my other Windows XP system with different monitors. It's like Windows is trying to be "smart" by thinking the monitor is gone. I do not want Windows to care if the monitor is powered off.

When I right click a file to view it's properties there are two different values shown: one for file "size" and the other for "size on disk". The second value is always larger. Could someone please explain what the difference is because I'm in the process of allocating space for backed up user data on a network share and I need to multiply the average file size by the number of users to get an estimate of how much space to allocate to that share.
