Ever since I installed some software, I've been receiving this message To protect your computer, this application must be closed. The only way I can get any program to run is by having DEP ignore it.
I get the following message when I try to do a System Restore: System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and the run System Restore again. I tried that but restarting did not correct the problem.
I clicked on system restore and got the message " system restore is unable to protect your computer . Please restart and try again" I rebooted several times and got the same message .I then accessed system restore with view of switching it off and on again.i checked the on / off box then clicked on apply changes and got the following message"System restore encountered a problem trying to enable/disable one or more drives. Please restart your machine and try again later"I then thought that if i slide the disc space bar down to zero it may clear out system restore but i got the same message as when i tried turning it off .i went into safe mode and searched for the wininit.ini file with the view of renaming it but this isn't the problem.
i have been searching for system restore but keep getting the following message....system restore is not able to protect your computer please restart your computer and then run system restore again

I get this message when i try to run Mozilla Thunderbird. It says Windows had to be shut down to protect it from being damaged, and its got a blue background. I read the Microsoft remedies which was to basically switch off your page file, restart windows and switch it on again. But I don't feel safe doing that. If you need anymore information then I'll give it to you.
I have just purchased a 256 M.B. U.S.B. flash memory drive. It supports password protection. BUT how do you get this to work or be enabled?. It didn't come with any instructions and the website didn't help either. I want to put private information on this flash drive and lock it(password protect it). It's not a giant problem, but any help would be fantastic.
I have been battling with a Norton problem for quite some time now. The Antivirus will not load upon startup and when I go to manually set up auto protect, I cannot enable it. Additionally, the status of my email scanning with this program is listed as "error" and marked with a red "X". I have tried several things to fix this problem but nothing has worked.
WinXP, SP-2. Is it possible to password protect the Administrator's Account? I'm new to most of this, and did check the help/support and did not find anything on this subject. It seems to me that if someone boots the system to safe mode, they can do just about anything they want to do. How can I protect this Admin account?
I'm trying to limit access to my PC through the password protect feature of my screensaver. When I configure my screensaver a box that says "On resume, Display Welcome screen". I checked this box, so that the screensaver will go to the Welcome Screen when it exits. This works fine if the screensaver is initiated by windows automatically (when the appropriate time of inactivity elapses). However, I've created a shortcut to the screensaver, and when I double-click it, the screensaver loads, but when I deactivate it (move the mouse, press a key) it does not go the the Welcome Screen, so the computer is not locked.
Is there a way I can password-protect my files in My Documents so that each time I open the folder, it prompts me with a password? If not, are there any suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone could help me in solving a little problem that I overlooked.I had XP OS on C drive and my documents on D drive. I recently had to reinstall my OS on C drive from scratch due to a bug, trying to make sure that I installed it in the same manner.Everything proceeding fine, until I went to access my documents on D Drive. In the inital setup I had set security/privacy access to limit only me seeing my documents, now after reinstallation I can no longer access my documents due to it not recongnising me as the account holder or administator. I can access all other documents shared etc.. but not mine.
I am trying to install HP Image Zone Plus but I keep getting a yellow bar with the writing "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click for options..." When I click there is the statement "Allow blocked content" - when I click on this, nothing happens - the message just reappears. How can I correct this problem so I can load my program? I don't know where to start.
For the last day or so, my computer seems to not function correctly. For example, today, I had five windows up (IE, Trend Micro Control Panel, My Documents Folder, Windows Media Player, and Photoshop) and I tried opening an eBook pdf file. When I did this, I kept getting an error message. I did this two or three times and the same thing happened. I closed Photoshop and tried opening my eBook pdf file again and this time it worked. Is my RAM going bad? I'll notice if I have six or seven windows open, IE starts to act up as well by not showing all of a website's images, form fields, etc. I know I've installed a GoToMyPC application in the last week or so. I have disabled, so it doesn't open when Windows starts, but I'm not sure if that was the problem.
I have spent most of my day working on my computer and with not a lot of success. For a few weeks I have been having an error message appear when we restart the computer regarding xprt5.dll and the application can not be found.I have googled and checked out a ton of sites about fixing this and how it relates to AOL.And an emergency virus scan earlier today when my computer would not boot back up.I also had or have a virus where I am getting a ton of bounced back emails regarding drugs for sale being sent to people not in my address book. Earlier today I did a full scan with Norton, fixed the problems but then my live update was not working. So after speaking to a customer rep. from Symantec we removed Norton and I downloaded the 7.2 version and again ran another scan which came up clean. We un-installed AOL and then reinstalled it after checking out the site that you listed in a previous post, but still to no avail we get the error message and again tonight I am having bounced back emails with virus warnings.
I have a BFG Tech GeForce 5500 overclocked graphics card (256 MB DDR). whenever i try to play any game on full screen, Windows gives me a memory dump with the following message.A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Check for adequate disk space, if a driver is identified in the STOP message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with hardware vendors for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to selected advanced setup. i bought the new game, Lord of the Rings Online. Works and installs perfectly however, because i have a weak connection sometimes an error message comes up saying you have lost connection, so i would keep trying untill i manage to get onto the game successfuly. Then i would get another problem which i am sure it is to do with my graphics card. As i am loading the game and enjoying the introduction video, my computer screen would go black and a message would appear saying 'No Signal' with the computer still running. So after seeing this message i would assume to restart the computer, there is no other way of getting it back to the desktop. I did this quite a few times maybe about 6times. After pressing the restart button for the last time
when windows was updating my computer about half way threw i got a message access denied and that service pack 2 did not finish installing and it uninstall what it had already installed
Today I was on the internet when I got a window asking me to reboot, titled "Systems Settings Change" and saying "Windows has finished installing new devices. The software that supports your device requires that you restart your computer."Immediately I thought it was a virus since I hadn't done anything to prompt such a message, but a scan reported nothing. I restarted and it took a VERY long time to reboot. I decided to do a system restore. After the restore, I got the same "Windows has finished installing new devices" message. What should I do?I should add that every subsequent reboot has taken a very long time as well (I'd say ~3 times as long as it took before all this happened).
My OS is XP Pro with a 160gb western digital hard drive.I was attempting to use Partition Magic to install another OS and something went wrong and now the computer wont boot up.I have tried everything I can think of but I am unable to fix it.I am getting an error message "invalid system disk, remove the disk and click on enter". I would like to format this drive and start over. I have gone into the bios and set the CD-ROM drive to boot first but no matter what drive I make first, I get the same error message mentioned above. Any ideas on how I might be able to format this drive?
