MICROSOFT ERROR REPORT - Have Disabled Error Reporting
Jun 29, 2005
Every time I try to use Microsoft Works Task Launcher I get an Error Report. When either the 'Send Error Report' or 'Ignore' button is clicked, Microsoft Works immediately closes down. I have disabled Error Reporting in My Computer to no avail, as the error message continues to appear

Booted my computer this morning and had two error messages; send a report to Microsoft (which usually never do) then rebooted. Now I have lost my active desk top and can not re-activate. Do I have a virus?

I have a 40GB HDD. It was originally partitioned as C: (Windows - NTFS) 15GB and D: (Data - NTFS) 27GB. I decided to have one of my sporadic forays with Linux, and using a combination of Acronis partition manager and the Windows Computer Management snap-in, did the following: C: (Windows NTFS) 10GB,D: (Data - NTFS) 5GB, E: (Transfer - FAT) 2GB, the remaining free space (20GB) formatted for Linux.I then decided to bin Linux for a while and revert to my previous partition layout. Using Windows Disk management, I removed the Linux partition and created a new partition. Then using Acronis Partition Manager I resized the C: drive to 15GB. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten to repair the MBR from having GRUB on it before I did this, so when it rebooted, I had to then boot up with a W98 floppy and repair the MBR. After having done that, and all the rest of the partition management, I have a size reporting problem! Right-clicking on the C: drive in My Computer shows the previous size as 10GB, as does Acronis. However, if I use Acronis to resize a partition, when I get to allocate the additional space, it shows the correct size! Also in Disk Management, the graphical representation of the partitions shows correctly, but the statistical info in the box above shows the previous configuration.

I am a little stumped by this error that came into Tech Support. One of our end users emailed us and stated that he keeps getting windows errors and then of course XP prepares a Error Report to send to Microsoft .I have done an extensive search about the problem on the internet and find this issue a lot. I have just never seen a successful resolution. Some say it is video driver issues, some say spyware. I am not going to sit and guess as what it is. I figured I would ask everyone here at this board and see what I came up with.

On Saturday I got the first of these. I was on the internet, pressed the back key and the computer shut down without warning of any kind. It was slow to boot back up which it did of its own accord. Then displayed this message, "The system has recovered from a serious error."

Recently , even after a morning start up, IE7 fails to view and an error box pops ups. The one that asks you if you want to send an error report. If I restart again it's 50/50 to get to see IE7 working. Not sure if this is related, but in the evnet viewer I've noticed event ID's 1000 & 1001 are listed in the same times that this happens

Windows XP totally up to date. I think. When I open Outlook Express {email} I keep getting messages that "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close".....and it does close when I click on send error report. At times when it does work for awhile, when I click to delete a email, that email won't show as deleted from inbox, but when I then go to the deleted folder it shows up there....checking back at the inbox the email is now gone from the inbox.

I am running XP SP2 and when I try to run Disk Cleanup (from menu or command prompt) I immediately get a popup telling me "Disk Space Cleanup Manager for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" with the option to send and error report to Microsoft. This started happening after I added additional memory to my PC. I am not having any problems with other programs. I successfully ran a Disk Cleanup late last week. I tried removing the VolumeCaches entry from the registry and that did not fix the problem.

Recently, I have come across a problem in the internet Explorer of my system. After I start Internet Explorer it does not cause any problem but when I close even one Internet Explorer window it asks me if I should send the error report. Even if I say, Send Report or Don't Send,it just closes down all my Internet Explorer opened windows.

Im getting a Microsoft Windows Error at every computer start up or more commonly after a game i was playing crashes and the computer restarts or has to be restarted. The error is: The system has recovered from a serious error. After sending the error report it directed me to the microsoft windows error reporting page with "corrupted error report" and the following " Unfortunately, the error report you submitted is corrupted and cannot be analyzed. Corrupted error reports are rare. They can be caused by hardware or software problems, and they usually indicate a serious problem with your computer."

I am running XP Home. When I go to windows explorer every thing works OK with the exception of when I click on the history folder. Then I get an error message asking if I want to send the error to Microsoft. I have tried to click send and the whole PC freezes until I hit control-alt-delete and hit end task. I have run anti virus and spyware with no negative results.

I'm running windows XP SP2 When I press Ctrl / Alt / Delete the system displays a message saying "Task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I have a stand alone PC not connected to a network so I'm guessing that a rogue piece of software has done this.

running Windows XP home edition and every time she goes to press the internet explorer icon on her desktop it will load the home page ok then when you try to surk the net she gets the message that microsoft has encounted aan error and then it asks if you want to send the report or not. If you click either send or dot not send report it boots you off the net and goes back to the desktop. Also she cannot even do internet banking, because every time you try to you get the same message. We think she may have gotten a virus, but we don't know because norton doesn't find anything wrong.

I was advised to use this site from another Sims Fan. I am very new at this so don't expect me to know anything.
When The Sims 2 first came out I brought the game (my system meets all the specs) after a few days the game started to crash. I contacted EA Games for help and was told to update drivers, reinstall the Game and turn off all anti-virus and firewall software to play the game. I did so.
But still the game kept crashing. I then was told by EA Games to install a new patch to the game. I tried and the patch came up with an error every time it got to the file packageinstaller.exe. I then tried the Sims 2 community and got serveral completely different things to try, some more useful than others. After a long time of trying to get help, I was told to reformate my hard drive. Which with aid I did. But still the game kept crashing. And to add to this now my computer crashes for no reason and when I do send error reports to microsoft I get messages back saying corrupt error messages can be caused by faulty RAM. So I used a test which is supposed to find any faults or errors on the RAM and I set it to do the longest one so it did a complete check, but no errors are found.
These recent errors have happen when I was doing nothing simalar to the other crashes (like random errors). I've had programs freeze up, computer not responding, blue screens, application errors, restarting, screen going black for a few seconds and microsoft error reporter seems to come up every time I turn on the computer.
I am thinking that they might be something seriously wrong with this computer and I really don't what to be told that I have to pay out thousands to get it fix.

So earlier I was installing a update for my MS Office and one of them was Office XP Service Pack 3 and during the installation, my computer crashed so I had to reboot and when I logged back into Windows, the updates came up again. I installed them fine and then afterwards when I tried starting up Microsoft Word, it gave me an error and says ''Error 2771. An internal error has occurred. RemoveOPSExtensionFeature) Contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see C:ProgramFilesMicrosoftOfficeOffice101033PSS10R.CHM.'' I have tried re-installing, uninstalling and I keep on getting the same error.
