Bridge Connection On Local Area Connection

Oct 22, 2008

I have tired to get rid of this bridge connection that is on my local area connection. I try to remove it with the bridge connection area and all it says is "To create a Network Bridge, you must select at least two LAN or High-Speed Internet connections that are not being used by Internet Connection Sharing." I have AT&T hig speed internet and tired talking to them and they said it was on my end, plus I spend two hours on the phone to someone who doesn't know much english and not alot about computers. So can someone please help me. The only way I can connect to the internet is through the my D-Link router which sucks

I have been referred to MSN as a source of help for this problem. Although I am an AOL subscriber, I access MSN Messenger, and the MSN Gaming Zone daily. My PC uses Windows XP, and for the past few days I have have been booted from both MSN areas, after a short time of usage. Then I am also booted from AOL. Upon sign on, a warning comes up saying that I have limited or no connectivity to my local area connection. I was told by AOL NOT to disable this, as it may also disable my connection to AOL.

I can find nothing wrong with the connection behavior, but I'd rather not have the "warning" showing. What can I check or do in order to get rid of it?

ARP Cache Driver? Local Area Connection

Jan 4, 2005

Basic Specs. Dell 4400 computer, Com21 cable modem connection. Location- At my home, one computer, one connection Why is it that i can no longer bring up any web page until after i perform the "repair" function to my local area connection??? When i do the repair function i get a message that the repair was not completed due to a problem repairing the "ARP Cache". But even though the message says it was not able to fix the ARP Cache, i am able to connect and bring up a web page. the exact wording is: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed. Clearing the ARP Cache"
I am not entirely sure if the ARP Cache is the problem or just a result of some other root cause. This problem occurs just after a reboot or if the the computer has been sitting idle for an hour or so. After a reboot, my local area connection says it is connected, and even shows traffic, both directions at a speed of 10 mbps for a short periods of time, then the traffic seems to stop. It's like something is loading up right near the end of the boot process that is stopping the communication. I have run 3 different virus scanners, spybot, adaware, cwshredder, tweaknow regcleaner, all with no results as far as finding viruses, malware or any other devious problems. i have also performed a "netsh int ip reset" function, as well as system registry "winsock" deletion and re-installation procedure, both, per Microsoft's instructions. Both netted me zero help, still have the same problem. I have even deleted and reinstalled my i/o card driver, to no avail. I have also used the restore function for windows settings, restoring to a point back in November, when all was well. No help there either. I have gone to "windows task manager" and looked at all the running tasks and found no tasks that do not belong. I have un-installed certain programs that auto load during the boot process that i thought could be causing the problem, such as adaware se plus, my virus scanner, spybot search and destroy.

After I come back to the computer after a while, there are multiple local area connection icons in the systray indicating that there is a cable unplugged. But my internet is working and I can't find any other local connections in network places. The other weird thing happening with those little icons in the systray is that when I try to hover over them with the mouse to right click on them to see where they are coming from, they vanish as soon as I hover over them. There will be a row from 2 - 6 of them, they al vanish as I hover across the lot of them.

Service Pack 2 / Computer Comes Out Of Stand By Local Area Connection

Jun 27, 2006

I'm sure this is an old issue for some but it's new to me because I downloaded Service Pact 2 this weekend. I'm now noticing that sometimes when my computer comes out of stand by the local area connection symbol is disabled and I can't get it to enable. I've even gone into My Computer/ Network Connections/ Local Area Connection Properties window and tried to enable it but that won't work. I also tried to troubleshoot it, but that hung up, not even ctrl alt delete would shut it down so I pulled the plug. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I don't think it's a coincidence that it started after I got SP 2. I'm tempted to try and unistall it, but I've already seen some posts on the forum about possible negative consequences.

Configuring A VPN For Use With A Dsl Broadband Connection

Aug 1, 2005

I would like to configure a VPN between a office based file server and a
mobile machine. Both m/c's are running versions of XP and logins have been
set to allow the remote user to conncet as a properly authenticated member of
group on the offoce m/c.
Problem is I can't set the IP address for the remote machine to connect to.
The office conection is via a dsl setup and I have been given an IP address
for the internet connection by the ISP. After the ISP IP Address I expect to
see a modem (which is also my internal LAN DHCP server) and the IP Address of
the machine I wish to connect to.
If my ISP has given me an IP address 200.200.1.100, my dsl modem is
192.168.1.255 and the machine I wish to connect to is 192.168.1.100 with
subnet mask 255.255.255.0 how does this translate to a VPN configuration?

Broadband Connection - Internal Wiring - Internet Explorer

I can connect to broadband by moving the PC into my bedroom, removing the cover from the telephone socket in there and plugging the modem directly into the socket. This is not a satisfactory solution as I do not plan to surf in bed. In other telephone sockets in other rooms, the modem has a flashing green ADSL light which means it is not working properly. My fixed line telephone supplier says is it not a line problem and the ISP (the same company) says it is not a broadband problem. If it is my problem, how do I solve it?
