Is there a way of locking the keyboard similar to the NUM LOCK key?. My kitten keeps walking over the keyboard and this has become a nuisance especially if I am online and not actually at the computer myself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like my Numlock to be on by default when I boot my computer, but Windows is not doing that. When my computer boots, the NumLock is on at the beginning, but then when the first Windows screen comes on I can watch and see the NumLock light go out.
I am using Windows XP Home, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. I have gone into the Bios and made sure that Numlock is ON/ENABLED. I have checked the Windows Registry item, and it is set to "2". Also, the operating system has been registered with MicroSoft.
Where else in Windows can this be coming from? What else can I do/try to get the NumLock to be on at bootup?
Why should a computer reset sometimes when the Num Lock or Caps Lock key is pressed? I have tried turning Num Lock off in the Bios to see if that would help. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a friends PC, a gateway P4 2.6, winxp home. The mouse and keyboard up and died. He had a kvm switch, the electronic kind when it stopped functioning. I have tried usb, ps2 everything. The keyboard works on bootup, so I can get into bios etc... but when it gets to the windows screen, nothing. No mouse or keyboard. Safe mode is the same thing. Dont want to format and reinstall windows. On that note, I did try a repair, when it asks for admin password it wont accept it. Says invalid admin password.. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just finished assembling my new build. It boots and I can get to the BIOS. I even have it booting from the DVD drive so I can load Win XP.However, when I get to the Windows Setup and it asks me if I want to setup windows(press enter), Repair(some other key), quit(F3) my keyboard won't work. I hit "Enter" because I want to install XP and nothing happens. It is not responding to my keyboard strokes.
This is strange because the keyboard works in the BIOS.
My friends keyboard is not working. When she turns the computer on no lights come up on the keyboard. Have tried another keyboard and still the same. Unable to get into the computer to check bios etc as there is a password on the account.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI work as a technician in a number of Primary Schools and I have been asked by some of the schools if there is a way to ensure that Number Lock is switched off on all machines before they log in. I have done a few searches on google but have no results that work.I have tried editing the registry however this only works AFTER they have logged in. Disabling Num Lock at boot in bios doesn't work as windows likes to override this setting.The reason i have been asked for this is that the schools have Laptops which the children use and when they are typing in their usernames they are obviously getting a mixture of numbers and letters in the username field.Does anyone have ANY ideas how i can disable the number lock at boot?

I have also had a problem receintly when starting up where a box opens that says "DWRCST tray icon encountered a problem and must shut down". Also, I am able to log onto my IPS and some websites will open as they should and when clicking on others, a page opens that says Internet Explorer cannot open this page. This also happens when I try to open this website, so I must use another computer to get here.
