Incorrect System Date
Jan 7, 2007
Whenever I run a program like NOD32, iTunes, or even the Windows Update utility, an error message comes up saying that the system time is incorrect, even though it is clearly not. I reformatted, reinstalled Windows, and went through the steps in the Microsoft knowledge base to no avail.

Well its January 2008 and today when i turned on my computer i saw that my date and time were wrong..plus when i was starting up my computer a message said something like i need to set date and time. I tried to double click the clock at the bottom right side of the computer screen but it does not respond. The time and date window will not pop up so i can reset it. I tried the control panel clicked on dates, times, language, and regional options then i clicked change the date and time but when i click that option nothing appeared.I even click the change the format ... but i can't change the time. So that's my question.I am using AVG free edition but it is in error state and it will not allowed me to update because my computer date is not correct.

The registry key LargeSystemCache "1" on a RAID Windows XP Pro configuration will lead to disastrious read/write errors. The only way to fix is to open registry and changing the key quickly right after booting Windows and then do an official restart/shutdown.The key is located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM CurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory ManagementLargeSystemCache This tweak is widly spread to be enabled but there is never a warning for anyone on RAID! If on RAID do NOT enable this key!

I am having a problem using system restore. The only "bold" date available, as an earlier date, is today's date.I have tried all 5 methods from Microsoft's system restore help and suppport page for WindowsXP, to no avail. Each tells me that System restore is working.I used the one date (today) that was avaialable and it "restored" without a problem. How can I get the calendar to show an earlier date?

I am testing different XP windows scheduling ideas that are set to run every Wednesday morning at 1.00 am and Saturday morning at 1.00 am. How do I change the system clock to test the schedules which have been created? The system clock has to stay active for six hours, which is the length of time it takes to run all the projects.

Intel 4 Pentium with 1.5 GB of RAM Memory Windows XP Professional with all patches up to date. HDD of 150 GB partioned into a System Area of 50 GB and Data Area of 100 GB. The System Area has 21 GB of free space.Upon selection of Hibernate, the process starts but takes about 10 minute to complete. Then the computer restarts instead of powering off at the end of the hibernation process. It does say that it is resuming windows. If you select Turn Off instead of Shift+Click over the Standby button (i.e. Hibernate), the system will power off.

From time to time I help people fix their computers. And on occasion I have messed up my computer in the process. No problem. I would just reformat. I read about a program called Nlite, where I could slipstream all my programs + windows xp + sp2 and, most important, all the windows critical updates to date. It worked great. It cut down my time from start to finish, from about 7 hours to a little less than 2 hours. But in the process of learning how to do this, and before I found out that there was such a thing as a virtual pc, I of course had to reformat a number of times.

I run windows XP and, after several years with no audio problems, I suddenly lost audio.I checked my sound settings and everything was fine. I tried to do a 'system restore' but the system restore does not work. It will not allow me to click on a previous date; when I tried "help" in 'SR', that did not work either.I've rebooted several times to no avail. Earlier in the day I had downloaded a new program called 'seekmore'...thinking that may be the problem, I uninstalled it, but the audio is still gone. I ran a Norton Scan... still no success.

My video card is: ATI Radeon HD 4350
It has one Digital and one Analog port on the back.
I had it setup using 1920 x 1080 on both ports (dual monitor).
But I can't get that to work again.
When I set the monitor using the VGA port to 1920x1080 then it displays 1280x720 on the monitor, but the video card is outputting 1920x1080. The display seems to scroll when the mouse is on the edge of the screen because obviously it can't display 1920x1080 on a 1280x720 resolution.
So as of now, my monitor is displaying everything really big and it's useless at this point.

In the last week I have three times tried to log on to my Windows XP Home system and been told after multiple tries that my password was incorrect (no, Caps lock wasn't on). Each time I was forced to log on to my wife's account and reset my password through the control panel. I was then able to log on but by the next day, I was seeing the same problem. I have now had to reset my password three times. This problem has never occurred before in 4 years with the system. My wife has reported the same problem, but claims that rebooting fixed it. I rebooted and was still unable to log on. I strongly suspect a virus, but I have VirusScan Professional on my work license and it updates the .dat files every day. I checked the logs and nothing found. I know about creating and using a password reset disk, but that doesn't fix the problem I'm having.
One option is that somebody else is messing with my password, but my son is off at college and my wife would not know how to do it. I asked my daughter about it and she says she didn't do it, and she is very trustworthy It has happened again since last night without her being on the computer, anyway. I am a very experienced computer user (20+ years) and type in dozens of passwords a day, so I know it's not a problem with my typing.

I have been trying to install Win XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 on my old puter. It's really slow and old like 10 years old. I am planning on fixing it up. I tried to install XP, and after it copied the files (which took forever) it went on to the install step. Every time, it gets stuck on a "fatal" error that says "Incorrect Function." Then I can look at some kind of log with a bunch of files and words I never heard of.
After I click ok, it restarts and does the same thing over and over, until I turn it off. I tried to take out the CD, and it starts loading, then says I am missing files. It seems like there is nothing I can do. I contacted Microsoft, and they won't help me unless I give them 35 dollars. I'm a 15 year old kid and I don't really have much money.

When I open an Access 2003 DB in a multi-user mode I get the following error: "The parameter is incorrect". BUT if I right click on the file name and select Open With - Microsoft Office Access then it opens up just fine. I have tried to re-associate the program with the file type but that did not fix it. It opens fine if no one else is in the database.AND once I'm in the database and I try to click the Save button it tells me. I don't have exclusive rights and it wont' save my changes but it does save changes.

i have a 2 year old pc that i bought with windows xp media center edition 2005 pre-installed and activated. only a week ago, it started asking me to activate windows before i could log in every time i restarted my computer. i would click ok and then it would ask me to activate. i would activate over internet and when it did, it say i have an incorrect product key. i don't know why this happens because the computer was pre-activated and i didn't do anything to my computer when it started happening except played some games. something even more wierd is that 1 in 5 times it boots up perfectly normal without asking me to activate. it is really annoying to have to try restarting my pc until it randomly lets me log in.

Using Partition Expert on a master HDD with two partitions I resized the second partiton down by about 8 GB, then resized the C partition from 10 to 18.25 GB. Committed Operation. Seemed to be doing fine, next time I looked at the screen it was blue and it said the system had encountered a problem and Windows was shut down to prevent damage. The PC rebooted fine and everything works OK. However, Explorer says the size of the two partitons is 10 GB and 20 GB, somewhere I lost 8.25 GB (which is the least of my worries anyway)Defrag says the same thing, however, Partition Expert says the partitions are 18.25 GB and 20GB. And this is what Windows Disk Manager says: In the top panel it says the partitons are 10 GB and 20 GB.

I ran latest version of Spybot on my laptop (Windows 2000) There were several malware that Spybot wanted to remove. Ran a backup. However at one point on the process Spybot asked if I want a series of actions allowed. I clicked on allow and an endless stream of these questions began to show up. I did not click on remember these actions while allowing Spybot to delete. Got tired of doing that repetitive action and rebooted. Machine starts up, shows desktop and then desktop goes away replaced by the following applet with just a light blue screen behind it
C:WINNTsystem32command.com
The parameter is incorrect
Hit Ok but applet comes back. Hit close but applet comes back. Can only force a shutdown. Went into safemode tried "run last good configuration" ...same result. Went back into safe mode and ran the backup on Spybot to reverse actions but of course since I didn't hit remember the allowed actions the malwares were returned but the problem not fixed.

I am trying to allow users to change their own passwords on a win2k server using net user.I tried: net user username password computername. The error says the filename, directory, or volume label syntax is incorrect. The server is on a different vlan than where the command is run but I have added the computer name to the hosts file so it is able to resolve it when I ping it so I don't think that is the problem.
