I am testing different XP windows scheduling ideas that are set to run every Wednesday morning at 1.00 am and Saturday morning at 1.00 am. How do I change the system clock to test the schedules which have been created? The system clock has to stay active for six hours, which is the length of time it takes to run all the projects.

Then the computer restarts instead of powering off at the end of the hibernation process. From time to time I help people fix their computers. And on occasion I have messed up my computer in the process. No problem. I would just reformat. I read about a program called Nlite, where I could slipstream all my programs + windows xp + sp2 and, most important, all the windows critical updates to date. It worked great. It cut down my time from start to finish, from about 7 hours to a little less than 2 hours. But in the process of learning how to do this, and before I found out that there was such a thing as a virtual pc, I of course had to reformat a number of times.

I tried to double click the clock at the bottom right side of the computer screen but it does not respond. The time and date window will not pop up so i can reset it. I tried the control panel clicked on dates, times, language, and regional options then i clicked change the date and time but when i click that option nothing appeared.I even click the change the format ... but i can't change the time. View 2 Replies View RelatedLately I have had appplications freeze up temporarily for no apparent reason. This happens in WordPerfect, Word, and in my webmail system w/ Comcst and IE. Everything is un-responsive for as much as a minute with "beeps" when I try to get the window to respond by clicking in it or on the button in the system tray.
I wait it out and it usualy clears. But this is not an automatic backup in the word processing apps (which only takes a heartbeat to do). It's almost as if some thing on the machine is recording what I am doing... Once yesterday, I had to shut it down and re-boot, but that's been rare.
Now, I have lots of anti-spyware and other protective stuff: spybot S&D; Spyware Blaster; Webroot; Processguard; and AVI Antivirus. I've scanned and scanned, but found nothing but a few cookies most of which I get rid of.
Can file sharing be temporarily disabled in windows without affecting any other services. I guess what I am looking for is an "on or off " - switch" without having to disable file sharing the tradional way (rebooting etc). Is there a cmd.com option? Windows service etc. I would just really like to know how to turn it off. lets say for 5 minutes or 10 minutes at a time and easily resume all shared folders and services.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem for some time now, concerning my taskbar, which temporarily freezes (around 2min + ) when Windows is loading, and during that time the clock and other icons are not displayed, and the Start menu is unclickable...This happened after I re-created my iconcache.db, and I've got no solution to make it load faster, except if I leave the pc on for around 5min then enter the username and password to login, else if I do so as soon as the welcome screen appears it slows down.

I have installed windows live messenger from the free download (the one with the picture of the two women chatting) 8.0..8.1? I also installed sweetim extra 'winks'etc. My problem is when i go to open 'messenger' i get an error message that reads'live messenger temporarily unavailable , try again later error code 810003od'.
I've tried unsuccessfully to restore my windows xp to a prior date, following the tutorial, with the response: "your system was unable to be restored to the prior date."

I tried to do a 'system restore' but the system restore does not work. It will not allow me to click on a previous date; when I tried "help" in 'SR', that did not work either.I've rebooted several times to no avail. Earlier in the day I had downloaded a new program called 'seekmore'...thinking that may be the problem, I uninstalled it, but the audio is still gone. I ran a Norton Scan... still no success.

I know the system was fat 32 when I bought it with Windows ME installed. This computer has not worked well since I did the new install.
