View 8 RepliesWhen I start my computer (WinXP SP2) if fires up but hangs with a blue screen after I log in with my user name and password. I don't get any sort of error message; just a blue screen. I cannot do anything but turn it off. Not even the mouse will move. This happens everytime I start the computer.I have a Peer to Peer LAN connection between the above computer and another one running Windows 2000. If I connect via remote desktop from the 2000 computer to the WinXP computer it logs me on everytime and I never get the blue screen.I wonder whether anyone would have any idea how I can fix this as I don't want to have to keep RD to the XP computer from my 2000 computer.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI read previous threads. My problem(s): Hard drive checks out. Problem started with "unable to defrag due to system files..." Found what I thought was problem software, tried to remove it, it froze up, I attempted to cancel it, I shut computer down. Start up gave 0X00000024 (0X00190292, 0XBA4D9840,0XBA4D953C, 0X804EF920). I tried booting from Windows CD. When I tried to get recovery console, it asked for admin. password. I don't remember ever setting one. I attempted to recover or reset by methods on "tweaking with Vishal". Didn't work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem that, if fixed, would by-pass other problems. I got a virus on one of my Dell Dimensions (E521) and figured I would simply just reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows XP. I backed up all my information, put the hard drive in my second PC (E520) and reformatted the hard drive. So I ended up getting Windows XP installed on this newly reformatted hard drive by using my second computer (E520) to reformat then install using the Dell operating system disk.
I put the hard drive back into the first computer (E521) where it came from and I get this blue screen error with "Stop: 0x0000007B" I know that this means there are a lot of different things that could be going wrong, but it is mostly due to the computer not being able to load the OS from the hard drive. This is a big problem, but the bigger problem is my USB keyboard is not being recognized at start up on the first PC (E521) meaning I can't get into bios or do anything really since when the hard drive tries to load it gets this blue screen error.
I've tried updating my bios by making a bootable bios update disc and forcing my computer to start from disc by unplugging my hard drive, but it wouldn't work because I needed a keyboard to start the bios update from the disk in the dos prompt. - If there's a way to make the update start automatically it may update the bios, fix the keyboard problem, where I'll be able to get into bios and make sure the hard drive is being recognized properly. I figure if I can fix at least one of the problems I'll be able to fix the other. If I can get by the blue screen, I'll be able to get to windows and do a bios update there since the keyboard will be recognized OR if I can get the keyboard to work I'll be able to get into bios where I'll be able to fix the hard drive problem.....

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow, I wanted to install and image the Windows XP Proffessional of mine. It should've worked, but for some reason, it's giving me a blue screen error right when the Loading Windows part of setup starts. This blue screen error mentions pci.sys.Now I've installed that Windows XP Proffessional on about 5 machines before, and it's always worked for me (I believe it was 5 or so). Anyway, I've never needed to install it on this machine before until now, because it's more convienient to install it here. Note that it's not running on any other machine or anything, I haven't needed it installed on a machine for awhile.
Well, here's what I've been trying. According to several Internet sites, I might need to install additional drivers by creating a custom disk with nLite. I've indeed now created 1 DVD, and about 2 CDs, with different drivers and can't seem to find the right driver that needs sticking on there, because people seem to say different parts may be missing. If this makes any difference, I know that both my Home Edition and my Media Center Edition have Service Pack 2 on it when all I do is install the Windows. This CD of Windows XP Proffessional does not. It only has Service Pack 1 installed when you just install Windows with the disk.
I have a Sony Vio model PCG-3E2L. I tried installing xp on my sony computer that had vista on it. It continually blue screened during the very beginning of the install process. So, I decided to remove vista. I could not get vista to uninstall so I finally ran an older bootable windows like 98 or me which got me to dos. In dos I deleted and reset partitions. I did not format as format was not on the disk I used. Now, with a fresh hard drive I figured that xp would install but it won't. The computer boots by cd but again it continually blue screens at the beginning of the install process b/f it asks any questions but after loading drivers.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell I have a serious issue with my computer and one that means if I can't fix it I will have to replace my hard drive and reinstall windows. I recently installed kerio firewall and avant virus security along with a few other programs I got rid of, upon restarting like it told me to, like with most program installations, I got a blue screen telling me my drivers were not loaded and that windows was going to delete everything off my hard drive... I found it odd and slightly scarey so I rebooted in safe mode and did virus scans and the works, then did a system restore back to before I installed all of the program because that what I think causes it... It won't let me restore, it tells me it did but then when I try to get onto my normal system runnings, i can actually get into the desktop but everything is dreadfully slow and after about 20 minutes the blue screen message comes back up again... My explaination is rather bad so I will answer any questions you need me too

I rebooted with F8 and chose last working config. After a little enlightened guesswork and advice I removed my old Dell 725 printer driver(which had started giving an error message on startup). Now I could load the Samsung driver etc and the new printer works. However, XP still crashes whenever I reboot normally I can still bring up a working system with F8 as above (but I have to reload my PCI card drivers again - 2 port serial and sound card - for some reason)

I tried with F8 (last valid configuration, etc of the list), but all give the same blue screen. My repair floppy disk is from september 2007. After it, I installed a second HD for files backup and needed to put drivers for Windows recognize the bigger HD size. All worked fine until the power failure this morning. Antivirus and scan are up to date. Since I installed the driver for the bigger size HD, I cannot more boot through the floppy disk, because it not recognizes the HD. Is there anything I can do to not reinstall Windows?
My computer seems to work fine except when I try to do a copy in Casper XP to backup my hard drive to external HD. I have located online page for stop 0X0000000A codes which states could be driver problem... that last one parimeter 4 -- 804E35E9 how/where would I
find out which/if this is associated to a particular driver so I can possibly correct it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCompaq Presario running Windows XP, second upgrade.I am unable to install programs. When I try it seems as though there is a second installer trying at the same time and that conflicts with the initial installer.I get the message: "Error 1606. Could ot access network location %USERPROFILE%Recent" I have followed the advice on checking the registry for wrong paths, but I could not locate any. The initial problem was with WordPerfect Office Suite 12. When the computer was booted I would get a message that Windows was trying to reconfigure WordPerfect Office Suite 12 There didn't seem to be any reason for that, so I tried uninstalling WordPerfect but it would not uninstall. I then removed it manually and removed all references that I could find to Corel in the registry.

When I do, i go through the usual boot through to the windows start up screen (with flag), then I get a blue secreen with "please wait....." after 5 secs the dots stop appearing, then within 30 secs the HD stops.
