This happen to all my clients, i'm using Win2003 as my server, and i set only a Group Policy, which is "set all the local administrator password to be the same with the domain admin" <only 1Kb in size> but i don't know why, all the clients takes up to 2-3 minutes to go to the ctrl+alt+del screen. no virus or spyware detected by symantec.
View 2 RepliesThis is a Windows XP sp3 domain connected PC with one specific user, which all of a sudden takes 2.5mins to log in to the domain, Where it used to take just about 20 seconds. Other users on the same PC is all OK 20sec login This is not the usual where it hangs at "applying computer settings" or "personal settings" it's after those two has passed that it just hangs for a couple of minutes.
All i get is the mouse pointer (not even hourglass) and the desktop wallpaper for about 2-3 minutes. When it finally logs in everything is as quick as you would expect that spec of PC to be (1,6ghz Sempron, 1gb RAM, 40gb IDE-100 HDD)
I have an AMD Athlon XP 64 3700 2.2 GHZ Processor with 3GB of Ram. My computer is pretty fast, but just recently the startup has been sooo slow. i switched my log in screen to the classic with the autmatic login about two months ago and everything was fine tell about a week or two ago. When i start up my computer it will get to where its time to load the desktop and the log in dialog box will show up and it will finish and then this is where it should load all my startup programs and desktop icons, but it just loads my desktop background picture and then wait about 45 seconds to a minute and it will make the windows startup music and then wait about another minute and then it will start to load all my desktop icons and startup programs. I have tried al most everything. I have ran AVG antivirus about 10 times with updated defiinitions, ran ad-aware, ran spybot search and destory, registry mechanic, ccleaner. I have listen to other suggestions. I have gone into msconfig and removed all startup items, and even tried to remove uncessesary start up services from there as well. NOTHING works.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently, my computer's startup in Windows XP has been getting slower and slower, the first loading screen takes a little while, but the most annoying part is that once I'm inside Windows, everything appears loaded, except for the icons in the taskbar, and I cannot click on the Start button or do anything, I must wait for the entire system to finish loading before I can do anything. I don't have many programs in my startup either.

I don't know much about the inside of a computer so I need help. It is extremely slow to open 1/2 hour or so and even more so to get into any program or internet. Yesterday I checked everything I could check and somehow or another I found a screen that had appeared stating errors and saying something about images not being able to open.

My laptop specs are: purchased in 2002 AMD athlon 1399MHz Windows XP (recently updated to SP2) 350 MB RAM On boot up, the laptop occassionally starts going very fast when the Windows XP logo is displayed, the DVD drive then starts going crazy, the login window appears but the cursor is blinking very fast and I can't move the mouse
I habe a dell with WindowsXP 2000 with Internet Exploer 8 I use the AVG antispyware
It literally takes my computer 15 minutes to startup.
Is there somhing am doing wrong?
Or what can speed it up?
I am experiencing a very slow start up. It is usually at least 5 minutes before I can click on anything to get it to come up.Shutdown is just as bad.Have added startup processes also to this post.I have a Toshiba laptop running XP Home.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHe did not setup the device settings (i.e. tell my computer what trays the unit has, paper deck, sorter, etc.). I set up those items after he was done under "Installable Options" in the Device Settings tab in the properties. Trouble is....it doesn't see the changes I made--it defaults to the settings the sysadmin made. I can print, but the trays are not correct and I cannot print from the paper deck which is our standard paper.I cannot even get a PDF to "fit to page" when printing to this printer.

It may be a DNS issue on the server, but the only DNS setting I have on the local area connection on the server is 127.0.0.1. Everything seems to be working fine but this is a source of frustration if a workstation needs to be restarted.

We tried a ChkDisk because my father told me that has fixed his PC before. It didn't help any because it said the disk was fine. I then tried a system restore, which did not help either. I'm having a big problem with my computer.I've run out of ideal and things to do to speed up this computer. The more I do to speed it up the slower it gets. I can't seem to download anything from the internet that my help me with this problem. I can seee the internet but it take so long to go from a page to another that it time out alot. I went threw all the step to speed up this computer twice with no luck. There very little on the hard drive and I still can't get this puppy going. Can any boby help?

my computer is suddenly running extreemly slow at start up and every pplication/operation takes far more time than is resonable. i have not recently downloaded anything new and i have about half free memory. The only error message i get is the 'windows virtual memory too low'
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer started slowing dow about a month ago. It got to where it took forever to load when I turned the computer on and even opening software took forever. Same with turning it off. It also hangs up on me. I can't even press Ctrl + Alt+ Delete to end a program when its not responding. I have to strictly turn the computer off just to get somewhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton. I have the entire Norton system and catches nothing. It says all systems are working properly.
I was asked earlier if I had ever put a music CD in the computer that was by SONY, and I can say that probably close to 20 over the 4 years that I have had it. I was told that SONY puts this "thing" on the CDs that transfer to your computer before you even hear the music so that you are penalized if you try to duplicate them.
Could someone please take a look at my HJT log. My CPU went up to 100% about ten minutes ago and hasn't dropped since. I didn't see any odd processes and I just restarted and it just jumped right back up to 100.
View 14 Replies View Relatedmy computer has been running abnormally slow, and I don't mean 5-10 seconds for a program to load, more minutes. Once, it took, from turning the computer on, to arriving on desktop a total of 12 minutes, that was without half the stuff even loading by then!
The slow speed usually occurs when rebooting, I left my computer on for serveral days and eventually it worked good as ever.
I'm not sure if it matters, but soon before loading the desktop, there's a weird grinding type noise coming from the computer, this lasts for about 5-6 seconds, and happens several times.
I have a laptop operating on Windows XP. Recently my computer has become extremely slow. I have gone into task manager and noticed that the CPU usage is quite high, even when there is very little running. At times the system idle will hover in the 90% range, however the CPU usage will also stay in the same range. (As far as I know, if idle is at 90%, than CPU usage should not be higher than 10%). I can't figure out what else is running that is making the CPU usage run so high. I have run various virus and spyware tests and all have come out clean. I have used cc cleaner to clean my registry and even update some of my out of date drivers but the problem has continued.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer using Windows XP operating system has become extremely slow. It takes around 30 seconds to bring up Microsoft WORD and EXCEL. It is similarly slow on my other programs. I frequently run Spy-Bot and Ad-Aware which have detected no problems.
On turning on my computer, it takes about 2 minutes for Windows XP to start up and no MS audio is heard during the start up phase. Audio is working on other programs, however, such as MS Windows.
