I have a Server 2003 SP 2 DC acting as a print server. It seems to be causing our XP SP2 clients to produce an event ID 20 print warning everytime they try to print as if the driver has changed even though it has not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've looked at it infrequently, and never could understand what I saw, but today there was something relatively new and scary:...Further info under help and support said an error was detected during a paging file operation. The word "disk" scared me, so I checked the entire Event Viewer, and found 25 of these errors, from Aug 1 2005 through Sep 3 2005. If this event was cataloged earlier, I don't know, because the Event Viewer only goes back to Aug 1. I checked System Restore for Aug 1, 2005 and found a couple of things; 1) an accidental MS "update" to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX driver 5.12 -- but we've had the 6.1.7.7 driver for a long time now. The 5.12 screws up the display resolution, big time. I reinstalled the 6.17; resolution is fine; but I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the Event 51 warning. Also, on that same date, something called Software Distribution Service 2.0 is listed three times, and I don't know why. I don't even know what it is. I've researched the web, and can't find anything that seems to apply -- other than potential for a hard drive crash. Just what I don't need. Meanwhile, the entire system is working extremely well; fast and smooth; no glitches or twitches that I can detect
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhile viewing video files (contained in folders with over a Gig of contents) this message pops up in a small window: Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. You can send an Error Report to Microsoft. Then things close down, but everything comes back, except the folder of files that was open before.Then if I go to my "Event Veiwer" under Application I get the 2 Error lines with "event ID 1000 and 1001.

This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.

Every time I open a file, I get this message:

or
"The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"
It even happens for the "Show Desktop" icon in my Quick Launch bar.
All these files are just on my local hard drive.
Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 IE is not allowing me to check any mail thru any sites (hotmail msn yahoo gmail) nothing! it just closes all the windows no error messages or warnings! i have run reg cleaners spyware remover and AntiVir nothing to be found started in safe mode and did all scans and such STILL NO LUCK

When I click on either of them, I get this warning message and and when I press ok, they'll redirect me to a site for Storage Protector. I'm pretty sure that's a piece of ... To prevent this warning or to allow new un-signed drivers to be installed do the following:1. Go to start/run/ then type secpol.msc2. Browse to local policies/security options3. Change "Devices: Unsigned driver installation behavior" setting to Silently succeed.4. Printer wont print THE printer normally prints fine but now it wont print atall the usb cable is in and the printer wont take the paper it just sits there
CONTROL PANEL> PRINTERS> OPEN and it says its printing just fine but it isnt Its in the front usb hub and tried the rear it dont make any differnence. The printer is on and its got paper etc etc.
Whenever I try to view the Log, I get the top screen with the three optons, but I only get the bottom screen no-matter which of the three I click on, is it corrupt or something? Why can't I get the Event Log to come up?

What exactly is logging on and off?? Or what services is logging on and off??? The reason is I have another computer running XP Professional, and and the same setting as this one (only one user "Computer Administrator"), and the security event log in my XP Pro system is clean, no informations whatsoever. How can I find out who or what services is doing logon/logoff during system boot up. Basically I would like to eliminate those services and have a clean security event log

I can not find much on TechNet either. I see that this is a problem for others in other forums, but I could not find a resolution on any site. Anyone have a cause and resolution?
