View 2 Repliesis it possible to download a file straight to the E (cd burner) drive? i don't know what i am doing, so playing around i just downloaded a file to that location, but it says the files are ~ready~ to be written to the cd and i don't know what steps to take next. i would be grateful for any guidance (oooh, and question - if i do manage to get files directly to the cd like that, will they still leave traces just as if i'd downloaded them to the hard drive?)
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've a computer with Windows XP Pro, which is not connected to the internet. Now, I want to update it in order to be all up-to-date and secured again. So I don't mean by just downloading SP2, but by installing all security patches available ever since!
So I need to download everything first, burn it on CD, and then install the patches on my other computer. No problem. But the problem is: where can I download all those updates?! I've searched all over the net, and all I found was softwarepatch.com; it only contains english updates, and since I've a Dutch version of XP installed, those won't work. Simply changing the urls from xxx-ENU.exe to xxx-NLD.exe doesn't work either, different languages of the same patch seem to be hosted under a whole other url.
How do you install XP directly from harddrive?" by extracting the info from the disk?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe icons on my desk top have recently been highlighted on the name portion of the icon before my desk top failed to load - I don't know if that means anything or not but thought I'd mention it. When I start my computer it begins the normal start up process and appears to be okay until it gets to the splash screen: Microsoft Windows xp Home Edition, that's as far as I can get, nothing on my desk top loads. I went into safe mode and ran a complete scan (Norton) for any viruses and there wasn't any detected. I did a registry repair too to no avail. Prior to this I tried a system restore to get rid of the highlighted icons on my desk top and for some reason and each time I tried it it said no changes had been made; I tried it again in safe mode and the same thing.
