Dec 13, 2008I recently found out that it would be possible to run games in Directx10 quality on Windows XP. Since I'm running XP and not willing to switch to Vista.

Dual Boot With Vista - Currently Running Vista
Mar 3, 2008I'm currently running Vista on a raid 0 array, and want to dual with XP. I have two partitions, one with vista and the other that I tried installing XP on. After it finishes the initial installation and restarts it says to press any key to boot from the CD. I wait without pressing anything and than it says that there was an error reading the disk. If I remember correctly, after it restarts it goes strait into windows setup. This happens every time I try restarting, but I can get back into vista by putting the hard drive to boot first. In vista I can see the other partition where XP was installed, and inside is just a folder titled WINDOWS and it seems like all the windows files are in there

I did a search on google and found that some people said XP does not support directX 10, but then when you go to the directX website to download it, Windows XP IS under the list of "Supported Operating Systems". So is 10 supported by XP, or do I have to download 9.0c?

Jun 29, 2006I am running the public beta 2 of Windows Vista x86 (32-bit version) on my PC--dual-booting with Windows XP SP2-- and I can't get my blasted Internet to work with it. Unfortunately, I haven't any way of running ethernet cable from my PC to the router--and so I need my wireless to work. The adapter is USB--a D-Link DWL-G120 wuireless card. It works fine as I'm using it now in XP SP2. My PC specs are listed in my sig.Anyone know of a driver that will work or any way to make this thing work with the Vista Beta 2 x86 build (public release)? I don't care if it only lets me use 802.11b--I just want a frikin driver that will allow me to test Vista's IE7 and such.

Sep 17, 2009I'm trying to make a dual boot system Vista/XP with my HP Media Center purchased in 2007 with Vista pre-installed. Inside Vista I created the partition for XP (disk D and rebooted with the 'XP Pro SP2' inside. After selecting its correct partition for installing it copies all files on hard disk and it reboots in order to start its installation, upon rebooting and starting first time from hard disk, it says that there is an error in the system and stops. If I install only XP on the system it works correctly even though some newest hardware is not recognized. I had already made a dual boot two years ago with a 2007 XP Student Edition and it smoothly. If it is due to the XP version being too old that maybe cannot deal with the boot record created by Vista
Or perhaps such an old XP cannot recognize a boot hard disk that is not C:?
Is there a way to bypass this point (perhaps fixing the boot record) in order to continue correctly the installation?

Jun 26, 2010HI currently have from what I can see a very common and well known problem with Direct3D. My computer has DirectX 9.0c ( 4.09.0000.0904 ) installed. I assume that Direct3D comes along with DirectX and should be installed seperately. However when I click on the Diplay tab Direct Draw Acceleration, Direct 3D acceleration, and AGP texture acceleration are not available and the option buttons are grayed out.
My graphics card is Ati Radeon 9250. I have downloaded the Ati Catalyst Control center and the drivers for the graphics card, however the problem still wasn't solved . Could someone please help me out with this matter, since it's really bugging me, any help would be much appriciated. I have also included print screens that I think may be good to look at and see certain information. If any other information is needed or you have questions that please do not hesistate as I really need to get this issue sorted.

Sep 30, 2007I had to reinstall my OS (Windows XP) to correct a problem I was having. I did so, and afterwards reinstalled all my drivers and such to get everything back in working order. Everything is fine now, but for some reason Windows isn't recognizing DirectX. Whenever I try to run a game (for example, World of Warcraft), the screen flickers a few times (as if it's changing the resolution), then the game shuts down. In WoW's case, I get an error message stating "World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up-to-date." (again, no game is working, but WoW is the only game that's actually giving me a specific error message).
My video card is an ATI Radeon X1650 and I uninstalled the drivers for that and reinstalled them, which did not correct the problem. I'm certain I DO have DirectX 9.0c, as I installed it just yesterday and running dxdiag confirms that I do indeed have that version of DirectX installed.

Oct 26, 2007I unfortunately deleted 3 reg keys @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMIcrosoftDirectx and now I dont have DirectX, accordng to dxdiag. I have tried to download several packages from Microsoft,(directx_9c_redist.exe), opened it and run dxsetup. This however does not change anything. I have also tried to run it directy from 2 videogame cd's, but with the same result. I really need help, I cant play stalker.
