View 8 RepliesHI currently have from what I can see a very common and well known problem with Direct3D. My computer has DirectX 9.0c ( 4.09.0000.0904 ) installed. I assume that Direct3D comes along with DirectX and should be installed seperately. However when I click on the Diplay tab Direct Draw Acceleration, Direct 3D acceleration, and AGP texture acceleration are not available and the option buttons are grayed out.
My graphics card is Ati Radeon 9250. I have downloaded the Ati Catalyst Control center and the drivers for the graphics card, however the problem still wasn't solved . Could someone please help me out with this matter, since it's really bugging me, any help would be much appriciated. I have also included print screens that I think may be good to look at and see certain information. If any other information is needed or you have questions that please do not hesistate as I really need to get this issue sorted.
I would like to create a script of some sort that can be run by a regular user and that can reduce the sound acceleration like in the Sound tab of dxdiag. An older game my kids run needs lower acceleration to function properly. A second script to reset it would be helpful too. I don't want to give my kids admin priv or have to set it myself before and after each gaming session.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBy mistake I unzipped some Microsoft Flight Simulator texture files to my desktop [from a safe site I have been using for years] instead of the intended FS04 folder. I deleted the files and cleared the recycle bin, the next time I turned on the system all the files were on the desktop again. I restored the system back a few days before the files were unzipped, no luck, the files reappear every time my computer is turned on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer started acting up, and I couldn't play any games.WoW mainly -(Yes I play it) and Cod4, So finally I managed to fix it myself and this is what I did. Went into device manager, disabled then enabled my GFX card, Then I have to go into display properties and change 3D acceleration to 0 then back to full, Also when I do this it corrects my resolution.
However, EVERY time I power down my computer, I have to do this which get's very annoying
I can't get DX 9b to update to DX 9c. I know it has to do with the fact that I slipstreamed SP2 v .2096 when I installed windows. what things to delete in the registry to allow for DX 9.0c to install over the 9.0b version.
Whenever i use a program that uses Direct3D, it closes leaving an error message that relates to Direct3D, and then it asks me to run DXDIAG,
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I decided to play Mabinogi again , a RPG game, installed my driver, downloaded Direct X 9.0 , but when I checked DXDIAG, the current version of direct x was still 8.1. I have a the Radeon X300/X550 series for my VGA. Is my VGA perhaps too old to support Direct X 9.0? Or can you show me how to overwrite 8.1 with 9.0.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst, when I go to install the ATI software and the installation screen for Windows XP Driver comes up....I get a Severe warning saying "Zero Device Instance Error" button. What does that mean? The rest of the installation goes fine but the TV tuner part will not work.It says Direct X is not installed and that there is no capture device. So, I tried to install Direct X again. When I go to install Direct X 9.0 I get a message that the "framedyn.dll" file cannot be found, so Direct X does not install properly.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAs I understood the information about this software (on MS site) I thought it was supposed to be a 'must have', or at least a 'should have'. I checked that my computer was found to be suitable, and I downloaded it from CNET (of course). It's on my computer somewhere...I think, on finishing the download I was required to declare somewhere to install it and I have absolutely no idea where that should/could be. Normally a download is followed by an automatic installation point and I just accept that suggestion. OK, hopeless, I'll say it for you! Can you possibly tell me...nicely...what I should now do? I have ie6 though seldom use it, preferring Firefox as recommended by so many here.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway laptop running XP Media Center edition that connects wirelessly to a Linksys router. It works fine that way, but when I plug the ethernet cable in directly to the DSL modem and shut down the router, I get the "page cannot be displayed" message, even though the icon shows that I am connected and the lights are green. I know it is just something with my settings, but cannot get it figured out. I would like this to work, because a direct connection downloads faster and sometimes the wireless does not work due to interference.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to restore an HP PC that shipped with XP Home OEM. The restore disk is damaged and a few files in the i386 folder are unreadable. My ultimate goal is to reinstall XP home without purchasing another license because technically I still own the license, but the CD is damaged.
My question is. Is there a difference between the OEM version the HP used and the OEM version that I purchased with hardware? Is it possible to install my OEM version with the serial number on the PC?
I was also pondering trying to recreate the disk by replacing the damaged files in i386 folder with files from another version of home OEM using nlite.
Recently, I tried to run some old MS-DOS games under WinXP. However, none of my games was able to run (because all these games use the file DOS4GW.exe, which requires direct hardware access and extended memory, not supported by the command line)I tried every emulator i found on the net (DOSbox, Virtual PC, Virtual Machine) but nothing,So i decided to make a DOS boot disk . Everytime, i insert the disk, i will boot to pure DOS, and when i eject the disk, Windows XP will load.

I do have a problem saving data to CD/DVD with the Windows supplied facilities and have had NERO installed
This problem started happening randomly and now I cannot run checkdisk at all on reboot. Basically I cannot run Checkdisk at all on my OS drive because it always says in Windows that it is in use and needs to run the scan on next reboot. After I reboot, the above error message displays (see thread title).I've ran a virus scan and spyware/adware scans and I'm now pretty sure that it isn't the issue. I've tried disabling all non-essential services in services.msc and disabling all startup items under msconfig.exe, neither of which made any difference.I'm really beating my head against the wall on this one, I have no idea what the cause is?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI used this Parallel marked especially for Direct Connection file transfer. Now. I set up this connection on both computers. both have Windows XP, both are Service Pack 2. One as the host, and one as the guest. however. while I can directly connect the two, niether of the computers show in terms of shared files or even workgroup computers. I don't know how to get this to work, and I cannot afford any USB cables.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYeah I have reformatted my hard drives a few times over the years so I am no stranger to it however I am just curious about something. When I go to reformat with my DELL Windows XP Home Edition CD I will then revert back to SP1. I have SP3 installed onto my computer right now. I also have a SP2 CD I got from Microsoft about 3 years ago or so. Should I first install the SP2 cd or is there no need to do that seeing SP3 should have all of SP2 updates in it?
