Recently have got a new comp with pretty good specs (xp media centre edition), and plenty of ram and memory. However I have noticied that now and again i will get a crash or a hang. Typically when i exit MSN messenger it will crash and stop responding. I have also noticed that sometimes my sound doesnt work. Then when i restart it will be fine again! I know this shouldnt be happeneing on a new comp but not sure how to solve this problem or even if this is in the right topic.
When I play a DVD or xvid movie my computer hangs after quitting the program. Totally freezes, reboot required. I tried re-installing the latest ati drivers, latest audio drivers (ac '97) and the latest motherboard drivers (msi with nforce). Sometimes there's no audio either in the movies I try to play It's the same with PowerDvd, VLC and Windows Media Player.
I wonder if it could be the IDE cable? As I recall the dvd station and the hard drive with the xvid files I tried to play are on the same harddrive, forgot to try and play files from my SATA drive, but from what I can recall it has worked fine previously. However, If i try to unpack stuff/burn stuff from the same harddrive it works fine.
Looking for some help, started having problems yesterday when i noticed that my PC took a bit longer to boot than usual.I've had a few crashed when writing to disk, i presume this as i was downloading a dj mix (perfectly legit, from a music forum!) and the screen would freeze, no error messages and i had to turn off. Same thing happened again, i defragged my drive and still has issues, almost freezing, stuttering but if i stop surfing, it recovers.System is C2D E6400, Segate SATA 160GB, 1GB Corsair value ram no over clocking.
Im new to the forums, some very helpful members here! just hope someone can help me! here is the problem i am having I have Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2, v2096. Version 2000. Anyway, when i turn my computer on from the power, the Windows logo appears with the bar going across loading as normal. Then suddenly it will either stop in the middle of the bar loading and will hang there and not Load up! OR the bar will just keep running across under the logo and nothing will load.It does this all the time, if you get a lucky day it will load up. but it takes HOURS!! does anybody know what the problem is or how it can be resolved?
I inherited a LAN with Win2000 RAID 5 as the main server. I am not IT trained and have learned some by reading books, papers, etc. but still have along way to go. Things run fine except that every 1-2 weeks the server will either crash with no BSOD just blackness and no response to keyboard or mouse, or it will BSOD and save a mini dump, or it will reboot itself and sometimes save a mini dump. I have no clue how to read these dumps. There is never anything indicating any kind of problem in the Event log prior, but after I get a message saying the previous shutdown was unexpected. When the server crashes the other DC on that domain will not serve the clients although they share the AD. I have 2 other domains, both WINNT, and one disallows access when the main server crashes and the other domain I have no feedback on.
Working on a laptop for one of my friends, and came across few problems I couldn't fix. When attempting to properly shutdown or restart, xp (SP2) hangs on "Saving your settings"I searched this problem and found many similar problems, but no fixes. Most sites/forums reffered the problems to SP1.When turning on the computer, after login, it hangs, then crashes (taskbar dissapears as well as desktop icons)My quickfix i've been using while removing the viruses/spyware from the machine is kill explorer.exe and restart it, this crashes many services (and viruses) that were running on the machine.it starts fine in safemode, but still doesn't restart/shutdown and I don't know how to fix it in safemode anyways. The computer is fully updated XP SP2.
I just really have no clue on how to install windows XP, I set first drive to boot in the bios as the CDROM and put in the windows XP disk, it goes to a blue screen with white text on the bottom saying it's loading stuff.. Then it says "Loading Windows XP" for about 10 seconds, then I get a 2 tone alarm (2 beeps each, like "beep boop beep boop" and the computer shuts down. I don't think it's a heat issue as I can let the computer run all day in dos and it won't shut down, but once it gets to Loading windows Xp it goes downhill.
I just put together a new system from scratch and regretting it BIG TIME, I have an intel d915GAG board with an intel P4 3.2 chip. Brand new WD HD, floppy, and 2 dvd/cd drives. After the final screw was tightened, I started my new system and the intel logo appeared. I pressed ESC and it appears to start the bios setup. It flashes my memory size (size is 512 MB), then the screen immediately flashes and begins to do and IDE scan, in which it promptly tells me that Device 0 not detected, device 1 not detected, device 2 not detected, device 3 not detected....and the setup stops right there. I don't have a clue, after searching Intel's site for 2 hours where to go from here.
Would appreciate it if you could help with this problem. When I open Explorer and try to send a file (any file) to another location, just as soon as I scroll down to "Send To" Explorer completely locks up.When I Ctl Alt Del to the task manager and go to applications it says "not responding". I have run Virus and Add ware without results.
I have been unable to use Norton Virus scan because before the scan completes, the computer shuts off and the indicator light turns orange like it is in hibernate mode. I have to physically disconnect the power for five seconds to reboot. Is there a way to scan the computer for viruses or remove a particular virus that may be causing this?
I can only get into my computer in safe mode. I have uninstalled anything recently put on the computer but still it crashes down after 3-5 mins. There are so many different error codes e.g. irql-stop, OXoooooood1 etc.,I noticed on reading some of your answers that you asked someone to create a file re mini dump and then compress it and send it to you. I have created one with the last 3 mini dmp files on it.
This machine is about 5 months old and has been crashing occasionally the last two weeks after the machine is up and running awhile. I checked the system log and there is nothing leading up to the crash but I do get a crash dump for each one. There is nothing I can pin down as coinciding with the crashes. The vents and fan on side were blocked by a bookcase so I pulled it out in the open. Checked the CPU temp last at 37 deg c. Ran "Memory Diagnostic 1" (from download.com) 4 passes of all the tests were clean - this took about 15 minutes. Ran chkdsk on the Seagate - no bad sectors. I can't tell with chkdsk whether it notifies you when it finds problems. All appeared good there. Did the "auto fix file system errors" but not the search for bad sectors on the external WD Passport. I think I need to analyze the crash dumps but don't know where to start. I hear there's a MS debugger or some such? Haven't looked on MS site yet. Is that where it is?I'm thinking maybe, cpu, memory, psu as possible culprits. Can I rule out the video card? and the hard drives?
I have windowsXP Home Edition, and lately everything is unbelievably slow. When first turning it on, it takes about 8 minutes before I can get online as it seems to be loading a lot of programs. I have tried to disable some programs at startup, but that only caused more problems, i.e.:I disabled my TomTom device from startup in "Services" and removed it from my system tray. I couldn't use my computer for 2 days after disabling it, along with some other programs, and an error message stated that I could not access it because I was not the Administrator (I am). My Firefox Firewall turns off sometimes, too, and is only restored after a lot of work (I could not do a "System Restore") All downloads seem to take forever, and my computer is constantly crashing and/or freezing up, or just "hangs". Quite frequently I receive an error message (While in middle of something) that states "An Error Has Occured And Windows Needs To Close" for absolutely no reason. I run Avast and Spybot frequently, but there is no mention of a problem. I make sure to delete everything in "Internet Properties" before I shut down for the night.
Recently my computer has been randomly crashing. It seems to occur when it is loading something big (like a game) or running a lot of programs at once. It just flickers and then goes to a blue screen that says:A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
my com crash whenever i use km player to play a movie or TV series, but it is fine with other program( but can't use the other program for long too, cause it start crashing up). and i will freeze for a a while, i can still click to other folders and stuff, but after a while it crash, the i keep clicking my mouse for about 10 times, it start to have a beeping sound from the com.
last night I okayed an XP sp3 update and my computer went through the normal update process but I woke up and all it would do is restart, get to the windows splash and then restart again. I would love any and all help that I can get before I have to talk to the folks at microsoft
I am using Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and every updated that is required and available for this operating system. I am experiencing crashes which then restarts the computer, at restart the error report box opens up, and I send an error report, which Microsoft send a statement with regards to a driver error which as an I.D. Q322205, my problem is where or how do I reinstall this driver.
First off, here are my computer specs (I like to get detailed): HP Pavilion a820n running Windows XP SP2 540J Pentium 4 HT, 3.20 GHz (1MB L2 cache, 800MHz front side bus)512 MB PC3200 DDR SRAM memory 200 GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive.Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128 MB shared video memory.Thats whats on the front of my tower. So, the title of this thread is self explanatory. I just turn on the computer and after it loads, after the desktop appears and right around when the desktop icons are loading, it just goes blank and restarts itself. Last night I did an error check for the hard drive, and it didnt come up with anything. I actually went to bed while it was scandisk or whatever, and when I got up, the computer was in its neverending cycle of resterting and crashing. I can, however, load it in safe modes, like with networking; that's what I'm using right now.
When I plug in my USB Flashdrive the computer "Restarts" I have just last week done a reinstall and everything is working fine. Has anyone any idea how to solve this? Before the reinstall the same flashdrive plugged in and worked fine.
If i try to burn a dvd, used DVD Shrink and Nero so far to attempt to burn some dvd files.my soundcard makes a high pitched sound BEEEEEP then goes silent when i try to burn a dvd REALLY STRANGE MAN!it just remains at 0% on DVD Shrink and 1% on Nero.I cannot shut down or restart, I also cannot open any other software like Internet Explorer afterwards, I have tried to re-install the ASPI drivers which never made much difference, anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I can read dvds no probs it`s just when it comes to writing the dvd i have issues.
(World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike Source) as well as during startup and during desktop use, that my computer sometimes reboots itself automatically. Like pressing the restart button, or the screen freezes (occurs when playing Counter-Strike Source) and my audio emits a very high pitched stuttering sound and no commands work, and as such the computer must be manually restarted. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would be able to give me some clues as to what is wrong.I am currently using the latest free addtion of Zone Labs 'Zone Alarm' firewall and AVG free anti-virus + Ad-Aware SE Personal Spyware removal. These programs have not found any viruses on the computer, although sometimes during a virus scan with AVG the computer will automatically reboot half-way through the virus scan procedure.
I have a client who has a brand new PC running Windows XP and Trend 2006 as AV Software. The PC was purchased around August last year, and around November it started freezing up 3 to 4 times a day. When it does so, the power button has to be held down to restart, and the HDD light is light constantly. I intially tried a lot of different things, such as virus scans, hijack this, Anti Spyware etc etc. All of which found nothing.I have now ran some HDD tests and RAM tests which both showed nothing. I dont really want to rebuild again, as I think the same thing will happen again.
I just got my first DVD recorder and am wondering what would be the best brand of DVD I should buy so I don't end up with very many coasters. While I am at it should I buy DVD-r or DVD+r so my DVDs can be played in most DVD players out there.
My computer just keeps on crashing while gaming or playing songs while it didn't crash till a week ago. I didn't install anything new, didn't download anything new and i don't have torrent things on or something. no sound, no loading or anything.
My Computer at work is crashing randomly It always seems to crash when I have something important to complete or in the middle of and I loose my work. I'm running XP Pro. the best thing I can start with is the error code and the minidump file. Error code 1000000a, parameter1 99f62b9f, parameter2 00000008, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 806e642b Error code 1000000a, parameter1 9664d1c7, parameter2 00000008, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 806e642b
I have been gettting lots of crashes also Blue screens Here are some of the Errors : Nv4_Disp.Dll, Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal, And Win32K Sys I am not to sure what to do here I only know afew things about computers I have been told to reformat And that will take all my errors away
My computer is slow often crashes, it is progessively getting worse. Please can someone look at my hijack this log and see if they can see any problems Also on another note how can i stop windows messanger running when i log in. Its really irritating as I use msn messanger and both programs run on logging in and conflict each other.
This has been happening on and off while playing games and pretty well only then. I don't get any error messages or anything of the like, my computer just freezes and that's that. I've checked my video card for overheating by using the nVidia monitor program and it runs fairly cool, I guess i should double check what the numbers are under stress but I don't see any artifacts or other weird images on my screen that would suggest a dying card (i use a bfg 8800gts 640mb). My motherboard also runs pretty cool too so i would highly doubt it's a heating issue there either.just recently i had to replace the motherboard due to failure and i fear whatever is causing these crashes may have caused my previous motherboard failure and possibly this new one to fail as well.
My computer randomly crashes and also reboots on it's own a few times a week, but I'm sure this isn't normal.I'm running Windows XP.There's no pattern when these problems occur. I could be surfing the web, playing a game or my computer would sit and idle for a little bit... then it'll reboot. This started happening a few weeks ago, but figured I could live with it. Unfortunately, it's gotten on my last nerve and I really wanna know why it does these things and how I can fix the problems.
