I recently Installed it on my computer last night , and had it crash on me 6 times when trying to surf the web. Has anybody else had this problem?I had to revert back to firefox 1.5.0.7 because it just kept crashing.wait for the first update i think.
View 32 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having problems as of late with my computer. for the past 10-15 days when I startup my computer sometimes Windows will load and other times it won't. I don't even get the privledge of the blue screen of death, but rather then brown green screen saying Windows failed to start. Usually it takes 3-4 tries before Windows successfully loads, but it seems to be getting progressively worse. I haven't installed any new software or modifiied any configuration details within the last 30days. I even tried a system restore point of about a month ago and I continue to have this problem.
I threw in my XP cd for a re-install but it says my version of windows is newer then the one on the cd, and after thinking about it, if this is a serious problem, having to re-install windows, all of my drivers for my 3rd party hardware and then update everything might not be worth the effort if I can just get a new computer. I have been pondering for a while of purchasing a mac for my next round of computer purchases so if it comes down to that, hardware and software costs from my current system are not a major issue. So is my computer just slowly dying like a used car, or what might be the problem?
I just really have no clue on how to install windows XP, I set first drive to boot in the bios as the CDROM and put in the windows XP disk, it goes to a blue screen with white text on the bottom saying it's loading stuff.. Then it says "Loading Windows XP" for about 10 seconds, then I get a 2 tone alarm (2 beeps each, like "beep boop beep boop" and the computer shuts down. I don't think it's a heat issue as I can let the computer run all day in dos and it won't shut down, but once it gets to Loading windows Xp it goes downhill.

However I have noticied that now and again i will get a crash or a hang. Typically when i exit MSN messenger it will crash and stop responding. I have also noticed that sometimes my sound doesnt work. Then when i restart it will be fine again! I know this shouldnt be happeneing on a new comp but not sure how to solve this problem or even if this is in the right topic.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just put together a new system from scratch and regretting it BIG TIME, I have an intel d915GAG board with an intel P4 3.2 chip. Brand new WD HD, floppy, and 2 dvd/cd drives. After the final screw was tightened, I started my new system and the intel logo appeared. I pressed ESC and it appears to start the bios setup. It flashes my memory size (size is 512 MB), then the screen immediately flashes and begins to do and IDE scan, in which it promptly tells me that Device 0 not detected, device 1 not detected, device 2 not detected, device 3 not detected....and the setup stops right there. I don't have a clue, after searching Intel's site for 2 hours where to go from here.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer freezes at least twice a day. Sometimes when i leave it on for quite some time, it freezes. At other times it just freezes while i'm doing some work. Just now the computer restarted by itself when i was running some programs (matlab, excel, bitcomet, zone alarm). I have to restart my computer manually everytime. I'm using Windows XP SP2, Zone Alarm Pro, BitComet, Prevx, McAfee. I've already checked my power option (hibernation disabled, never turn off monitor or hard disks and never standby).
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been looking into this computer restarting. I have downloaded recent drivers and updates. I looked at Microsofts suggestions. After the bsod if comes back up and the error reports says they are not sure what it is but it has something to do with antivirus.
Here is the event. It seems to happen whenever they are playing games or online. sometimes they will just go back to the desktop and the program will close.
I'm not sure whether this is a hardware or software problemBasically at random times my computer just seems to lose power and shuts itself off. Ive have taken it too computer shops and had it looked at, they have done various things like change motherboard etc and none of that has helped. The last piece of advice I had was that it was probably software related and the best way to fix it would be to simply wipe the system and start from scratch but if possible id like to avoid that.Sometimes the PC will stay on for 4/5/6hours at a time and run fine, other times after just 5 minutes it will shut itself off. Then when I try to turn it back on it won't switch on unless it is left for a while.
View 12 Replies View RelatedLately it has been going super slow I have been trying to play my sims 2 game which was working fine until I installed the Sims 2 Pets. which seems to have trouble running on the computer. However the computer had been running slow previous to all of this. It had also been restarting itself at random times which we thought was because of the video card as the fan is humming and vibrating making all kinds of weird noises. I have now deleted all unecessary programs and uninstalled all of the sims programs. I have also ran two different anti virus programs whilst in safe mode which did not pick anything up each time. As of now it is running pretty efficiently but I can not do anything with it when i open IE6 it will load Google but no other pages.it just doesn't work it stays open sometimes when IE6 freezes the whole computer freezes and I have to restart by using the power button.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe normal loading time is about 1-2 seconds. Loading time has been ranging from 2 to 45 seconds from start menu, desktop shortcuts, and Windows Explorer. All other programs load normal speed 1-4 seconds. My Documents, which I use the most often, is the worst. Doesn?t appear to depend on how many programs/windows are open or if I am on the internet. Using AVG Free antivirus-no infections found, except 20 or so level 3 cookie/yieldmanagers when loading Internet Explorer/Firefox. No recent changes to the computer. Only 5% of hard drive being used. Spybot/Adaware/AVG run every couple of days. This has been happening for 17 days, tried several previous system restore points--no effect. Defragged?although XP indicated this unnecessary. I use an APC battery backup. Scan Disk run several days ago--no problems found. This morning working normally for first time since problem began (no action taken)?yesterday loading times varied from 4-35 seconds throughout the day.

Something like that. Then my desktop icons are huge and the color of everything is all messed up and I then have to reboot.Any advice, my computer runs XP is only a year old and ran perfectly until this happen. I forgot to create a restore point before installing the game. I am scared about what could happen to my computer.

When I went to restart it after the install it wouldn't restart it would get stuck at the blue welcome screen. Tried booting it into safe mode and it wouldn't even boot there. So finally I had to use the Windows XP disk and do a recovery. Well when I did that she lost all of her applications. I had to reload Office, Adobe, and it said that the Panda Antivirus was not installed correctly.So I tired to reinstall it and I get an error of Class not registered.I hoping not to have to do format and reinstall Windows Xp but I think there is some corruption in the computer.

I generally would claim i am generally computer literate. But, I cant find a reason for this to happen. ANYWAY!I turned it on one day, having done nothing to presumably harm a computer, and it goes to the windows loading screen with the blue bar and stay there forever, seriously i timed it the other day, from 1-9 pm it was "loading".I scanned everything while running in "safe mode". no problems. I tried restoring it to an earlier date said it restored successfully, but still sat at loading screen forever.

I did the restart as told and it did come back but then it happened a third time and upon the restart the computer will not come back on. Or let me explain further...the actual computer will turn on when I push the button, but no picture or desk top or anything will come on on the monitor. I tried another monitor to rule that out and still nothing. I also was told to try restarting in safe mode but still get nothing coming up loading on monitor just a black black monitor screen. I really need to get this back up if not for anything else but to save all my lost stuff before I have to get rid of it.

When trying to restart it, it asks whether to restart in Normal or Safe mode etc and then it gets as far as the Microsoft Windows XP screen and then restarts itself again.It gets to the same stage everytime and restarts. View 7 Replies View RelatedI decided to run a defrag on my computer before going to bed one night. When i woke up the next day my computer continued to reboot itself. It would reach the windows logo screen and run that for a while then i would stall for a little bit and restart. I then would shut it off cause i didnt want to mess with it and it would continually boot itself up and start this process over again. I'm running Windows XP Pro with an Athlon XP processor. I have 2-120 gig hard drives on a RAID. I have tried to do a repair with the Windows XP disk but the disk doesn't recognize the version of Windows already on the drive like it would usually do.

I did and my computer would not restart or start black screen would click down seconds and try again but it would not start. Once that was done when i tried to update it didn't happened and so i went to microsoft.com and downloaded a fix patch and it worked. After that my ca internet security 2008 suite was not loading anymore with windows and so i just unistalled it and reinstalled it and windows started to crash. Now when it crash it gives me multiple of blue screen and nothing till i restart and same thing continues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashed and I rebuilt the machine using the old HD (with XP installed) as a second HD. I wanted to move Pics, music etc onto the new HD and then wipe it clean. I was able to move anything that was in a shared folder and anything in Program Files. Anytime I tried to move any file under a user password protected , I was denied access. I tried to reboot the computer using the 2nd HD. I got to a window that had the option of Safe Mode or last known good config. Neither of these would load Windows. I then tried to boot with my Windows XP disc. I entered the area for repair Windows, but have no idea what the Administrative Password is. I tried every combination I could think of. Last night a friend tried to move the files with DOS without success.
