I got the urge to look at my "Cookies" file a to see if I should delete any of them. I went into "Explore" and could not find a folder listed anymore for Cookies( it was once there). My favorite sites recognize me when I return so cookies must be active.
I have been receiving error messages that cookies have to be active. Well why aren't they? I need help in activating them. I have an EMACHINE and use XP.
Using XP Pro SP2.Windows explorer doesn't show c:documents and settings/jdl/cookies folder when opened from the start->programs menu. However, Start->Run with c:documents and settingsjdlcookies typed in opens the folder. Folder options->View has the "Show hidden folders" option checked.I do not have the windows xp disk since the program was loaded from a corporate server several years ago. I no longer work for that company.Any assistance would be appreciated. Not a big deal since I can access the folder. It may, however, indicate that other problems are afoot. I discovered this when Counterspy Ver. 2 Beta identified the cookie from CNET Networks, Inc., and I couldn't find it in Windows Explorer.
I just upgraded my computer from windows xp home to windows xp pro, and ever since then i can't hibernate my computer.it gets stuck at the black start up screen when i try to come back from hibernation. I did get a new wireless internet card since then, which i though might have been the problem, but i uninstalled and it still was messed up. I also restored my computer back to an earlier date to try to resolve this problem, but once again
Used to be that when I was searching through folders in favorites that it would return to that folder when reviewing the different web pages within that folder. Now I have to search for the folder each time I view a page within the folder. I have XP SP3 with IE8. Is there any way to change the way favorites works (options)? I hate that favorites closes every time instead of staying open while you're trying to find a particular page. Seems its gotten less friendly through the years.
On my old gateway keyboard i would press F11 and i would be able to view full screen, press again and it would return to all tool bars and search menus, etc. I now have a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. When i press F11 it now opens a box indicating "no function has been applied to this key, would you like to assign function to this button, click yes if so.when i click yes it is set to assign for F11 key, but it asks for which task? and nowhere under TASK:, does it have "full screen". Also, i know that if i click on "view" and it drops sub menu, at the very bottom it says "full screen" F11. But if i click on this and it gives me full screen i have no way to return to my tool and search menu.
Anybody have any ideas off the top of their head as to the reasoning behind this error message? My D: drive is a cd/rw drive, not a hard drive..COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of d:qxp_slpcomcom1xsrceventsier1eventsystemobj.cpp.
In my registry I've noticed porn related entries in: HKEY CURRENT USERsoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrent versioninternet settingszonemapdomains I'm on XP home SP2 and all updates are current. I run 2 anti virus programs, use SpyBot, Adaware, SpywareBlaster & CW Shredder. I've checked for virus's and run ousecall.henever I see anything suspicious I delete with a vengence and my security settings are properly set. I've shutdown the System Restore, deleted everything suspect in the registry manually, run every antispyware, antivirus program I can think of (regularly too). I shut down and restart the PC and everything I've deleted returns. I never find much of anything to report after running all tests, except mru's and an occasional tracker. My PC works fine, my connection is fast and I experience absolutely no problems I'm aware of. Obviously there's something I'm missing or not doing as I don't visit suspect sites. A helping hand here would be much appreciated.
just rebuilt my computer and it seems to freeze about every hour while playing WoW online.I am using on board sound on an ASUS K8V-X with a Sempron 3000+.In checking my event logs, the application lists the following errors at corresponding times to the system freezes. By freez, I mean I can't alt tab out of the program or get the system to recognize any type of input. I have to do a hard reboot every time.

My ? is this, is there some way i can enter the key without installing a fresh xp and if not how do i get past the stop screen and install. Any help and suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated and i will supply any further info that may be necessary.
If your list of software in "All Programs" starts going off the screen you can return to the old style of having them scroll, this also makes them all expand to the right and not on top of each other, which makes selection easier.Goto start - control panel - taskbar and start menu - start menu - customise advanced - and then scroll down start menu items list, near bottom is the choice to "scroll programs", tick it and apply , ok all screens and your done.
I am trying to open my active desktop, but I get a message that says IE cannot locate my active desktop html file. I need to find out how to fix this problem.
Basically anytime my computer requires my login and password to get back to the desktop, after I hit <enter> it takes way over a minute to come back. I can hit <ctrl+alt+del>, then <k> to lock the screen, immediately try to log back in and it will take over a minute to show me my desktop again.I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot this. I also have Ubuntu installed on a separate partition and grub is the bootloader; however, I don't see how this could affect my WinXp install since Ubuntu is not running at the time.
My OS is Wind. XPPro with Internet Explore 6.0 SP2 (Upgraded) I tried to get some additional pages from a web, but instead I had a notice that my computer does not have the necessary cookies

When the cookies box pops up and I reject it, then sometimes I can't use the website. Well I went and added one of the websites to my privacy thing and clicked always allow but it still won't allow it. It is very annoying and I want to be able to use certain websites. Why isn't it working
when I go to the "My Weather" page it does not come up.(I get the old"cannot find server" page) I have been told this has to do with my "cookie" settings. How can I change my setting so that I may access this page again?
