Computer Showing No Drivers For Audio?
Jan 20, 2006I try to install my speakers and computer says - Driver not found !! I go into materials and everything looks fine !Audio card 82801DB(-M) ICH4 Active
So what am I doing wrong ??

Oct 22, 2005Im reluctant to ask for help finding sound drivers for this M/B, knowing how time-consuming this could be. But I've checked all over - Google, Driverguide...I found two: m6twg which turned out to be win 98x, and wdm4030 which wasn't recognised either.I picked this board up from my trash room, along with a Duron 1100MHz CPU and a 64MB SD RAM, dusted them out and tested. They worked! Added a new WD 40GB HDD and PSU, stuck all in an old case and it surpassed my wildest expectations with Win XP Pro. Now if only I could find sound drivers...For that matter I'm wondering if there are XP drivers?

Jan 11, 2008I found recently (since last reinstall) that my mic input was not working. I figured it might be that the mic input was being used for 5.1, but not being able to find this option in windows anywhere remembered that the NVmixer had loads of options to change all this. So i dug out the old driver cd, installed the nForce2 audio drivers and programs and restart.Since then when my pc starts up it either freezes (starting with open apps, then single beep and total freeze), or slows right down to the point where task manager will take 2-4mins to open on three fingering.

Then, I make a DVD with Dolby Digital Audio and it plays fine on my omputer and everywhere else. Why won't my computer play the PCM audio DVD? I have this integrated audio channeled to my home stereo via my computer's line out jack, and the sound seems pretty good. This seems illogical to me since I assumed the quality of the audio was determined by my stereo system, not my computer.

The worst part however, is media. When it freezes there is no apparent response to either keyboard or mouse. Pushing the power button briefly does nothing, but pushing and holding the power button does result in the expected shutdown.

Dec 27, 2006I just got a new computer with an AMD Duron processor, 512 M RAM and Windows XP. Only problem is I've got no audio. I've checked BIOS and sound is enabled but Windows doesn't seem to recognize that the speakers are hooked up. When I tried to play system sounds from the Control Panel, I got an error message that said cannot play sound, your sound card may be in use. The computer was a gift that was bought used and the shop didn't have any documentation with the system. I think this might be a driver issue but I'm not sure how to find out which driver to try.

Feb 14, 2009I reinstalled my OS and all my software, shortly thereafter I noticed I had an issue where any sound that was coming through my headphones was being retransmitted through the mic, with further testing I found that this was not actually the case but rather any sound that would be output is being retransmitted as audio in, even if I had no speakers, headphones or mics connected. I have looked at and experimented with everything I could in every sound settings.
I have tried updated drivers, the only way for me to stop the issue from occurring is to mute the mic in the recording control, but that stops me from using the mic altogether. I need to be able to use my mic without recording anything that I am hearing as well.
General Audio/Flash Audio Levels
Oct 11, 2009First off I use windows XP with the latest service pack. I'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard Asus striker II extreme.
The volume of my flash player (I first noticed it when trying to view a video on Hulu) but other flash embedded videos won't play sound either. I thought this was a flash problem, and tried the usual fixes uninstalling reinstalling, running the update utility and removing and reinstalling the plugin. Also it likely isn't a browser issue as embedded videos didn't play on either Firefox or Opera.
After restarting my computer after a few uninstalls I noticed my startup music wasn't playing as well. I'm thinking that it might be some registry error as it seems like the music is very quiet instead of muted, and all of the volume levels in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties menu are at the correct levels, and my other media players play music and movies just fine.
I've browsed the forums and haven't seen anyone with a similar problem or a fix, so any help would be greatly apprciated.

Dec 26, 2004i just got this audio capture device for xmas and i plugged it into the wall then i plugged the usb into my computer. my computer instantly froze then shut off. so i unplugged the device and turned my computer back on. it started booting up fine but then froze and shut itself off. now when i turn it on it sounds like it boots up normal but nothing comes up on the screen. also, when the computer is off, but plugged in, there is a red light on the cd drive and a red light on the keyboard. i think something shorted out but there is no sign of damage on the mobo or ram. im hoping its just the psu, but i really have no idea. here are the complete specs:

Jun 2, 2009Iv'e installed XP pro on my new computer.after installing all the software i need on the computer i checked how much disk space i'm using before creating an image, and then i encountered a strange thing.When i measure th used disk space using ALT+ENTER from the root directory all the file amounts to about 9GB (all visible and all accounted), but when i check the disk properties it reports over 20GB used.When i created the image, the file weighed over 20GB also even thought i don't have 20GB of files.I know for sure that this is very unlikely that i'm actually using 20GB and that ALT+ENTER reports a wrong size because on my other computer.
