I recently downgraded my Compaq V6205NR laptop from Vista Home Premium to Windows XP.The problem I am having is,i cannot locate the ethernet driver. I have searched the compaq/HP site and all they show for Vista and Xp is wireless drivers. Does anyone know where I can find the ethernet driver?

I just installed windows xp on my custom built pc, and the motherboard disk I doesn't have the ethernet driver.Anyone know where I can get it also, the name of my network card is 1394 net adapter.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm writing this from my work computer, because I've totally messed up my Dell Dimension 8250 running XP Pro).I combined my dual OS computer into only one large partition and Fdisked(wiped out my OS(s) on my primary hard drive, in an attempt to reinstall on XP OS for my computer.To make a long story as short as I can, I removed(Fdisk) and "clean installed" my XP Pro OS from Dell's XP installation disk on my unpartitioned primary hard drive, But I can NOT connect to my ISP or the internet because I lost the driver CD and can't connect to the internet to download and install then.

However, installing the driver for Ethernet controller didn't work from toshiba.com. Realtek ethernet is listed and working in device manager. This ethernet controller with yellow question mark maybe from the wireless card? The wireless xp utility is not in the system tray. I have an atheros internal wireless card. View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to track down drivers for my Packard Bell Imedia 3082 XP Pro service pack 3 desktop. I have been to the packard bell support/drivers site and found 5 out of 7 missing drivers. I had tried the suggested site previously but when i clicked on download products i kept getting a "server not found message". Tried it yesterday again and it worked so thanks to the people who suggested that. Problem now is I am still missing my ethernet controller driver and my multimedia controller driver. I dont know the exact device details in order to download the two missing drivers. to tracking down the ethernet and multimedia controller. I have downloaded and installed the multimedia driver from the Pack Bell Imedia 3082 site but still it is yellow with exclamation mark. And i still cant connect to my Belkin router. So in brief: I need the device details to my ethernet controller and multimedia controller so that i can track down the drivers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem that's probably tied to another problem. I opened an e-mail that I shouldn't have and got infected with something. I ran scans from Norton 360 and SuperAntiSpyware and other online scanning sites but I could not locate the malware. I paid a Symantec consultant to remove the infection from my system and he says it is clean. In the meantime, because my computer would randomly shut down and I was afraid that it would not recover, I reformatted my hard drive and re-installed all my programs. My computer does not recognize my video card and I have put in countless drivers to repair it with no success. Although my computer is more responsive and stable I am still plagued with random shutdowns from time to time. It sounds like you would hit the enter key and it would stick and continually click until I get a blue screen.

I now have the router in my room using the Ethernet hole on my new MSI K8T Neo2-F V2.0 Motherboard, but every time I try and download a file it is corrupted. I have tried many different file just in case it was that. This did not work so I tried using my USB adopter and every thing downloads fine again. Kind of confused me a bit, since the card is exactly the same since we bough the computer about 3 years ago. I'm wondering were to get these drivers, since I cannot connect to the internet, none of the installation cd's drivers work, and the device manager is so vague about what specific hardware it is.

Frozen Throne was unable to locate your CD-ROM drive.Please make sure your Frozen Throne disc is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on 'Retry'.I have never gotten this error before, so I right clicked on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. Then under DVD/CD ROM drives is has: Next to these names there is an icon which has an exclamation point. I right clicked on ASUS CD-S480/A5 , then properties and the device status says: Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41).I am not sure what this exactly means, but I cannot load any of my games.
I have bought a web cam and it uses usb but when I load on the program I get this message Setup is unable to locate working USB port on this system. Require working USB port to continue installation. I have gone to the control panel, Hardware and then to Device manager. When I look in there for the Universal Serial Bus controllers there is nothing there even though I have 2 USB ports on the computer and where going approx 2 yrs ago when I had my old web cam. If you are able to help can you please let me know what I need to do to locate what I need to get it going.

Recently I have been performing a clean up of my PC (With guidance of TSG Security Forum) due to spyware infections. Part of this included running Ewido security suite. I noticed that there is a file at location c:ewidogdiplus.dll.
I'm having some problems with my XP pro Dell computer. Recently my brother downloaded some songs off of Limewire ( I know it's really bad). I have AVG free installed and it detected multiple viruses as mshypiw.dll I prompted to remove them, and it warned my system may become unstable or crash, I still clicked to remove them and after a re-boot my computer opened up to an error.winlogon.exe - Unable To Locate Component.This application failed to start because mshypiw.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.After I click OK it gives me the same error over and over again for different .exe files. Ex: lsass.exe, Services.exe.It Then opens the logon to windows screen and I can login as normal. Then it gives me many more of the same errors, which if I enter through all of them, I can eventually get to the desktop. Then, if I try to run any program I get more of this same error, depending on which program I try to open, some will open and some will not.
I have googled for this error for hours on end and can't find an answer. I did find this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319114. Which seams to relate to my problem but the file framedyn.dll is not in my dllcache folder and I cannot get to my System setteing because of this error.
