I have removed JAVA and re-install = nothing Here the message received from the webpage I can't access Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
With Windows XP Home shortly after using CleanUp 4.0, I noticed I no longer can access the System Information Tool (msinfo32.exe). When I enter msinfo32 in Run or use Programs > Accessories > System Information it takes me directly to the Help and Support Center. Before I downloaded CleanUp 4.0 I didn't see any "Known Issues" listed at the Steven Gould site concerning this problem. While during a Google search concerning any issues Windows XP and msinfo32.exe
The problem remains however. The @ key is actually the " key, and vice-versa. Also a couple of other keys are reversed too. I've looked everywhere on the net to try and reverse these problems but I'd rather not download a remapping program.
i know i just marked both threads solved, but i do have a couple more questions about specific left over files and add-remove program entries.
1. i have a folder in documents and settings/all user/applications for authentium. authentium was [i believe] from when i used the cox internet security suite which i did not like and uninstalled. in one of the folders is a quarentine folder with 4 items in it. trend micro doesnt pick those up during full scans, and im not sure how to scan each file with t-m. can i safely delete these or the whole authentium folder??
2. also, authentium antivirus SDK-2 shows up in add-remove programs. i thought i had removed authentium a while back. when high-lighted it doesnt show a "remove" button, doesnt show in start-programs list , nothing in program files either. i saw an authentim listed in the HJT uninstall manager couple days ago and deleted it, didnt think i saw it in the add-remove list at the time. how do i remove this entry?? is it necessary to remove other than annoying me?..........
i've scanned my computer with every single anti-virus and spyware program i could find yet nothing will fix the problem Sometimes when i reboot it will start loading normally but when it gets to the windows XP logo the loading bar is going like it's supposed to...then after a few seconds it completely stops...then shortly after a blue screen flashes and my computer restarts....and when this starts happening the only way to fix it is to do a system restore to the date i first installed windows xp to it....even if the problem started happening a week after i restore...it won't work if i restore it to a couple days before...ONLY the day i first installed windows.....i have to keep going into safe mode and restore....then it will begin working again....but no matter what it always ends up doing it again...and i'm getting sick of constantly losing programs i install then having to reinstall every single one of them.
Every time I download a file that is bigger than a couple of megs I get an CRC error saying the file is corrupt when I try to open it. When I try to unzip a zip file winzip reports an error. I have ran ScanDisk on my hard drive and there are no errors, I have also swaped out my IDE cable and that didnt help. I also installed a new network card and different Ram, I still get the same errors on almost all my downloads.
When I logon to the computer I keep getting a windows error message. I keep clicking on OK and it does not come right back but after a couple of minutes or even a couple of hours it comes back. Listed is the error message that I keep getting.
I completely reformatted my HD and reinstalled windows. I added the drivers and just a couple of aps. Now my computer is SO slow. Aps take a good 30 seconds to open as do web pages. There is the odd time where something will open quickly (seems random) but not too often. I ran Hijack this, spybot and adaware and found nothing nothing to find.
She had downloaded the newest version of spy sweeper and then ran it. She downloaded avg free version because her bit defender 9 had expired. She removed bitdefender before downloading avg. Then she ran that scan, which was negative. She also ran ad aware and just found a couple tracking cookies. What has started to happen is that since she did all that and re-started windows, the windows installer comes up and says it's trying to install TrayApp...asking for the installation package (*.msi) disk. She has no such thing. The MB is MSI.
My laptop keyboard has a strange problem. If the computer sits idle for a couple of hours, the keyboard stops working normally. I can't type any text; however, the keys will respond as shortcut keys. For example, if I open Word and type F, the file menu will appear. My built in touch pad also will not function normally. If I double click on an icon, it brings up the properties screen for that item. When I restart my computer, I am not able to type into the logon screen at all with my keyboard.
I have attached a USB keyboard to my laptop, but I still can't type right away. The only thing that works is for my to restart my computer two or three times, they press CLT-ALT-DEL on my USB keyboard. Most of the time after a couple of tries,I can type into this secondary logon screen with the USB keyboard. Once Windows is open, my regular laptop keyboard works fine again. This is until I leave it idle for a while.
I got a problem I use a developer program to make executables (hobby of mine saves me going troppo) called Clarion, it works OK, I made a DOSable program with it, it works OK. Once I could open to full size DOS screen by pressing the Alt+Enter keys and it would stay open until I was finished with it, then I could revert back to a small screen by pressing Alt+Enter keys again.
Now if I press Alt+Enter keys the DOS screen appears, but it stays open in full screen for a couple of seconds then automatically closes back to the usual small screen.
I have tried right clicking on the icon, properties, screen and putting a dot in the full size option, but this does not work.
I have scanned my PC for viruses etc but no joy there. I have Dialup only, so don't ask me to do a Panda or Trend scan as they drop you if you no got broadband.
I'm using XP pro, 512meg ram, using a Gigabyte MB, and Nivida video card. XP working OK-dokie, sound ok-dokie, video ok-dokie, screen to DOS wonkie. how to fix this?
I can surf the net fine except for one site. I have been to the site numerous times, and i have my email through the site (www.triadpictures.com), but now i can no longer access the site or my email. I pretty much have no acces to the triad server. I need this fixed, is there anyway?
I must have accidentally hit some button. Now I cannot type anything into a web page. I can type in on the addresses bar, Yahoo, and Google, but when a web page appears below which has a block for info, nothing happens when I click in the area where my curser is hovering. This happened all at once. I have done two different virus scans and put in a backup drive and even another keyboard. All the same results. The problem must be in some setting. I am not real experienced in computer repair but could this be a BIOS setting or something similar that was corrupted somehow?
FIREFOX 3.6.3,WINDOWSXP SP3,Why is it i can see it if i typehttp://localhost/index.html but i cant see it if i load it from http://www.ronuk.org ??windows on C://ronuk.org on E://i alway used to see it on C://???
When i'm on the internet, word, media player and basically every other program and I hit F1 for help (the yellow question mark thingy) the help doesn't work at all. It says:This program cannot display the webpage. You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address.Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
For a reason unknown to me, when I visit some webpages, instead of seeing some of the jpg or gif images that make up parts of a webpage I see the image box and a little red "x". Previously I have had no issues when I went to these pages, all the images would be visible. I have not intentionally changed any security settings, and dropping my firewall or Microsoft Antispyware does not seem to make a difference. I even dropped my security settings, but nothing. I have tried right clicking and then selecting "show picture" but with no positive results.
Instead of typing http://www.anysite.com you can just type anysite then press ctrl+return and it automatically puts in the http:// and the .comyahoo + "ctrl+return" = http://www.yahoo.com
I have been getting this msg "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when trying to connect to a web site (q8yat.net). I tried Firefox & IE7. I have access to all other websites? I used to have access to the web site previously but all of a sudden, no more access? can someone help me out plz?PS: I tried many things but didn't work ( no access when starting it in safe mode too)
Just got this starting today...'click to run an active x control on this webpage'. I get it on a site that I frequent a lot. All it is tryng to do is play a song that is part of the person's avatar, but starting today it comes up EVERY time there is an avatar with music. The site is a blog.Running xp pro sp2. I.E.6.
I am getting this message every time I open a new browser window in Internet Explorer 7. A dialog box pops up and asks me "Click to run an Active X control on this webpage?" I have to click OK in order to use the browser. I have Windows XP Pro. This just started in the last 2 days. I have only had the computer about a week and am not familiar with XP yet. Where do I go to reset to automatically run active X control on the webpage so the box will quit popping up?
After reboot, on I.E. I keep getting the following error message:"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" but if I go to address bar, & select my Home page, it WILL display. This does NOT happen on Firefox??
when looking at a webpage with an embedded avi, the avi d/l's, then only sound plays. When I attempt to view the file in the temp internet files folder, it only plays sound, and properties (in media player) says audio file. When I copy the same file to another folder (somewhere outside temp int folder) and play the file, it plays the audio and video like it should (and properties in media player says audio video). What gives? I've checked in the browser settings and its set to play videos on webpages, and I've tried checking play by extension (as opposed to content) as well. The media player is only 9 (yes, I'll upgrade), but I know that's not the problem because I've looked at the same site with a different computer (but not xp) and it works fine.
Whenever I surf the net and click on a link on a webpage twice or more, windows will not respond. The other websites that I open all do not respnd too.Previously I do not have this problem,Only recently then I encounter such a problem. Then I ve to restart internet explorer all over again and all opened websites were gone just like this.It is very frustrating!May i know what went wrong?I am using windows XP Pro serv pack 2 and running on Intel pentium 3 processor,801 MHz,256MB of ram.
i have a wireless network set up around my house and i have 2 desktops connected and one laptop connected to this network one fo the desktops and the laptop are connected fine and run the internet perfectly but the other desktop says it is connected to the network but will not open ANY webpage, will not connect to recive emails or any thing like that. I have called the makers of the wirless networking equitment about 10 times and one the last try they got me to go into command prompt and type "ipconfig" which came up with my IP address and it starts with "169" where as the other desktop and the laptop both have IP addresses starting with "192" so they said that my IP address was dodgey and this was a microsoft problem. i was wondering if any one knows any ways of changing my IP address so that it will start with "192" and will let me be able to connect with my wireless network.
I am running XP Pro on a Dell Latitude D620. I have just started to get the following error message Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I have tried the usual stuff it won't display any page.

we have a web application that uses IIS. We have two public machines that connect to the IIS server. After a period of time (not a set amount) the public machine loose the webpage. The only way of fixing it is to run the iisreset command or reboot the server.
