Code Purple Configuration HP/Compaq
May 24, 2006I'm working on a HP computer running XP Pro. When the computer would try to boot up to Windows an error message would appear stating that there was a configuration error and to contact the manufacturer. Then in paranthesis (Code Purple).I did a search for Code Purple on the internet and got a number of hits, but only one seemed to have any suggestions for a solution.

Jan 10, 2009This is a malware disguising as an anti-virus software. This thing is pure evil, it simply can't not be gotten rid off. I have tried restoring my system, I have used LavaSoft's Ad-Aware, AVG, SpyHunter and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which has worked the best but still has not eradicated the vermin. I have found the Registry line for this thing but it can not delete and I have full permission on the computer and it is set to permission for everyone. Anytime I try moving or deleting this thing I just get an error message. Worse yet I hooked up my ipod to the computer and now I think the virus is is my Ipod. So will I have to toss out my Ipod because it might infect any thing I hook it up too?

Jan 4, 2009I have a Dell laptop with window xp. A few days ago while online several pop-up windows kept coming up and among them Spyware Guard 2008 came up and said there was security threats/alerts. At that point we tried the trail scan, it identified 200 threats and advised to remove the threats.We removed the threats, however since then Spyware Guard continues to pop up and scan during every start up. We havn't purchased this and can't remove from our start up remove. More importantly, since this episode our laptop 99% of the time completly freezes and won't even start

Dec 7, 2008Not sure if this is really an OS issue or my video card or what. In the middle of playing WOW a few days ago, my husband's monitor went haywire with odd shapes and then displayed a message about nv4_disp caused an error and then it shut down. We then tried rebooting and it only got to the welcome blue screen and froze there with the username and password box distorted. It also displays all of the boot-up screen text in purple which is weird - normally white.

I have used windows media player9, windows media player classic and nero. The video box opens fine and playback occurs on the laptop but I get a purple screen in the video box on the tv. resolution has been changed from 600x800 to 1024x768 with no change in video display.

Dec 18, 2008a program called "System Guard 2008" has installed itself. It slowed down quite a bit and eventually crashed on me. Now it wont boot up all the way. I turn it on, it will get all the way to the Windows password screen, then once I enter my password and click on the green arrow, I get a warning message that my paginf file is either non existant or too small. Then once I click "OK" on that warning message, the screen blacks out, restarts the boot process, gets to the password screen, and that cycle just continues over and over. May 26, 2010I'm in the middle of a basic networking lab and one of my VM's crashed. As our host, we use Windows XP. For virtualization we use VMware Workstation. I had a problem installing the Internet Printing Client for my lab. I got an error saying that there wasn't enough hard drive space. I then shut down my VM and added another hard drive. Upon startup I was greeted with: STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} i did this:Removing the virtual HDD I added before the problems started. Restarting the VM. Restarting the host machine. Trying the VM on another machine. Booting to .iso and using the repair console with the command chkdsk C: /r.

Mar 29, 2005My computers screen is upside down and i cant change it im getting a massive headech trying to read upside down the its fine when its boooting up but when it gets to the log in screen its upside down again and the only way ive been able to fix it is by going in safe mode but i dont know how to fix the problem i cant put the monitor upside down cuz i already tried it and i got some weird purple colors around the screen

Dec 13, 2004Have some strange problem that nags me every so often. when i boot up the computer i will periodically get a bsod with "bugcode_usb_driver" listed as the cause. I suspect it may be from some webcam i had tried to install, though i thought i had deleted everything. The error only shows up every so often randomly, and then sometimes when i do certain things. For instance, I disabled startup item Navcpl which i believe is norton antivirus (which just came with the computer, im using another program). the computer would not boot up until i went in in safe mode and reenabled it. Yesterday I partitioned my hd using a linux program (though linux is not yet installed, just a cd boot), and since then windows keeps asking me to do run a disk check when i boot up. if i skip it i will boot up fine, but if i let it run, i will count down to about 2 seconds (from 10 that it gives you to skip) and then give me the bsod. very strange.unfortunately the problem had started a long time ago, so i cant do a system restore (i thought i had solved the problem a while ago, but like i said every so often i would get the error on boot, i had been keeping my computer on for long times and so i didnt notice it).googling and checking the forums have turned up nothing. i saw some solutions online and on microsofts site about the same driver error, but under different circumstances, nothing like the problem im having.

Aug 29, 2007computer about 5 years ago, it came with Windows XP Home edition reinstalled. The manufacture did not include a windows XP Home disc - instead there is a Windows XP Home code sticker on the back of the computer.
I have to replace the hard drive and do not wish to pay the retailer to reload windows XP Home -have installed other Windows operating systems and hard drives � so I have the skills for this task. Now my million dollar question - Product key codes with Windows XP; f I borrowed a retail copy of Windows XP Home can I use the Windows code from the Microsoft Windows XP Home sticker on my computer to reinstall Windows XP Home on my system and activate it or do I need a new key code?
Operating System - Pc - Code - Will It Work
Feb 20, 2006A friend of my daughters has a packard bell pc (4 years old). After ridding various virus from the machine and coming to a full stop they decided to use the restore disc (red floppy) and restore to factory default - all appeared to be going well. Machine froze after telling them to remove the floppy, when it came back to life it requested master cd1, which they dont have and dont remember ever having (bearing in mind machine is 4 years old). What do you think the best track would be to contact packard bell for master disc. I wondered whether my copy of xp home would work with their pc and their code - afterall they have purchased the machine etc. or am I being totally blonde. I am quite happy to reformat for them if this is a possibility but dont want to attempt it if there is the possibility it wont work. I realised xp is one machine one copy but not sure whether this is reliant on code or not.
