I accidently installed a wireless card before I installed the software. After I realized this, I shut down the computer and removed the card. When I went to restart it, it starts Windows okay, loads up the toolbar along the bottom and all of my shortcuts, then displays the message : DLL Intuition Failed, Windows is Shutting Down. Now every time I restart it, it goes through the same steps and shuts down.

Whenever I boot up the PC, 3 sessions of MS Word open - 2 sessions have a new (blank) document open, and the 3rd session just shows Word as being open (no new document).I went to Documents and Settings | Application Data | Microsoft | Word | Startup to see if there was anything in the folder prompting Word to open the 3 sessions. The folder was empty. I then clicked Start | Run | msconfig | Enter to see if Winword.exe is in the Startup folder. I thought I might see it in there 3 times – one for each of the Word sessions that are opening whenever I boot up the PC. Strangely enough, Winword.exe wasn’t in the Startup folder at all – not even once.

The reason I ask is that if a piece of software works on Windows 2000 server, is it extremely likely that it will work on Windows 2000 professional too? View 1 Replies View RelatedFor about 2 months my computer (Sony VAIO desktop, Pentium IV 1.39 mHz, 512mb RAM, Windows XP Pro, SP2) has been acting strange. I have checked the system for viruses and spyware with AVG and Symmantec and others- with no luck. I also did a Windows repair; it only got worse. I also used reg scrub.First, when starting up it gets hung up at "Windows starting up..." taking about 3 minutes to finally get to the user selection page. Once I login, it takes another 2minutes to fully open up. At that point, my mouse has a constant flicker and takes forever to open up IE (6.0). If I leave the computer for awhile, when I come back and move my mouse to wake it up- it has some new problems: I cannot type in numbers (num lock has no effect), when I type letters, they are in all caps (caps lock off), and when I go to my desktop to select a program to start, it highlights all of the icons and says basically "do you really want to start 38 programs at once".

my IE6 continually shuts down every minute!!! Im using XP home and have included my hijack log below. When it shuts down, I receive the famous "Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" message. Also, the failed file proccess in the details section of the error box is never the same! I've already run 3 spy & malware programs so I'm pretty sure Im clean.

This happened a few times and a simple turn off/on solved the problem. Now I cannot get it to reboot at all. I am running a IBM NetVista with XP and Norton. Both XP and Norton have auto update so they should be have all current updates.

My problem is that when i restart my pc, it turns off for about 3-5 seconds then delay 2-3 sec and bios starts, then the os. The question is why it shuts down when i restart my pc. Everything has been working fine now for about 6 months(So I'm 3 mos overdo for a crash) since I had to wipe everthing and restart. Last week I had to tape a Digital Video and then edit it using Windows Movie Maker. The storing was very slow but I finally finished the project. Then I decided to tape one last thing on my Nokia N95 (A phone with a very good Carl Zeiss video recorder in it)..................
When I try to use the "Free up space on your hard disk" function, my machine shuts down every time.

I had a bad virus on my computer and I wanted to boot it into safe mode. So I tried and everytime I tried it wouldn't work. But the last few days it's been happening again. It just shuts down while I'm working on something, either surfing the net, working in psp, working in windows movie maker, checking email, etc. Then I can't turn it back on by pushing the button on the tower. When I look in the back of the tower, the green light for the power isn't on, so I have to push the power cord in and out and jiggle it around a bit to get the green light to turn on and the computer to start up. View 12 Replies View RelatedI am runing XP-home addition and on average , 2 to 3 times a week the unit will just shut off to blank screen and the only way to get back is to cold boot the entire. system. It is not software specific, as it has done this dastridly deed running many different programs. The only thing I can maybe relate it to is the fact that the machine will not write a restore log so I can't go back to earlier time and reload. When I try to attempt to restore to specific time I get an error message just informing me that I have performed an illegal function. Is there a chance that these two malfunctions are related? Is there a way to get restore to funtion again from using the XP CD? Whats your analysis of why the computer would just completely and randomly shut itself off? Where would someone start to solve this total irritation? The only thing good to say is that information entered does not appear to be lost as it is all there when I return to the program where it crashed.
