"[userX]'s Documents" missing on "Files Stored on this computer"
When I double-click on My Computer there is a section called "Files Stored on this Computer". This section is currently displaying "[userX]'s Documents" for all windows users but one. Does anyone know how to show the folder for "[userX]'s Documents"?
i can remove the files stored on this computer section from my computer. the files stored on this computer section includes Shared Documents and individual users documents.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is a machine running on windows XP SP2 1200mz AMD.After restoring system to an earlier date, I am unable to run any program that requires a user profile. I believe that a .dll is currupted. I am not sure but I don't think that the registry is finding the wups2.dll file. I tried the regsvr32 command but could'nt get that to work. Outlook Express will ask for a user profile and password. This never happened before.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have lost all of my files within My Documents. All the folders remain, but all of the actual files are missing. No system changes have been made, nothing new was installed. I have run virus scans (I'm using SymantecAV Corporate) AdAware, Spybot S&D with nothing found.
They're still there somewhere, as the user folder properties show the correct size for the folder and number of documents, but not initially - right clicking on the folder to display properties shows a small number at first and then it gradually counts up. Properties for My Documents shows a small number of folders, all empty.
One of the users on my PC does not have the My Documennst folder appearing the list "Files stored on the this computer".

I am running Windows XP Home version 2002 with SP3 and cannot connect to the internet with 2 of the User Accounts. Account No 1 No problems Account No 2 IE freezes whenever I try to connect to the internet. Account No 3 I set up this new account to see if a new account would have the same problem connecting to the internet as Account No 2. It does. On checking both Accounts I found that the Documents & Settings folder is missing. In Account No 1 it is present. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a small domain with about 20 XP SP3 client machines. There are 25 or so domain members. One of my users had some files "disappear" from his My Documents Folder. After checking the recycle bin and searching for hidden files and folders with no luck, I logged in as admin and looked at his C:documents and settings'username' folder and found that it was created on his original hire date in 2009. (nearly a year ago)
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wifes laptop(which had 3 yrs of mba coursework on it) has just had her user acct corrupted/no documents/no pics.i tried recuva and it said not to restore files to c drive,so i restored them to a usb drive.problem is they just look like shortcuts.my son was surfing the net when mozilla went down abrubtly.when he tried to go back on mozilla it crashed 3x.he then restarted and thats when my wifes account came up corrupted and w/missing files+pics.it now has the windows default wallpaper.

When I lock on with the local administrator account, I want to see the files in the local user's account. In other works, I want to be able to see: c:doucments and setingssmithmy documents*.*. But I'm not seeing the "my documents" subdirectory of the local "smith" account.

It will however load if I am already in the program which usually opens it. Beside them it says SIG file, which I have no idea what that means. Also, it is just a blank box beside the file name (in my documents list) when usually there is a mini icon showing which program will work to open it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo today I was cleaning out my computer, deleting and moving around old and useless files and documents, etc. I have one folder that contained a plethora of important documents for work (mostly WordPad .rtf documents that I spent countless hours composing). I have another folder, under the same name, in a different part of my computer, with old, useless stuff in it. When I attempted to delete this file, I accidentally right-clicked on the important file, and hit 'delete.Now, a huge amount of hugely important WordPad documents are gone. I checked my Recycle Bin, and nothing was there (on my computer, deleted files oddly usually dont go to the Recycle Bin). I then looked to see if I had stored backups of anything, and I had backup copies of a grand total of 3 of my documents (leaving easily 100 still gone). I then did the only thing I could think of that could possibly restore my lost files: I did a System Restore (I restored my computer to a checkpoint made at about 8 PM yesterday). They were still not there.

The person outsourced told them to do another install of Windows to get in so they can back up their files. They tell him to install to Windows1 instead of Windows. I guess the smart outsourced agent thought this wouldn't delete any files since my friend told him he has some very important documents on this hard drive. So he installs another Windows and guess what, his documents and settings get overwritten. Looks like these guys really know what they're talking about since any Microsoft person should know this happens no matter where you install Windows

We bought it from best buy, and i guess they registered the computer to a 'valued customer' and its really annoying. Idk how the user name stuff works, but i think a while ago(not 100% positive cuz it was like 2 years ago) when we first got the computer i changed the admin 'valued customer' name to my name. but the 'my documents' folder defaulted to 'c:/documents and settings/valued customer' still. i fixed it by making a folder on c: with my name and made that folder the target location for the My Documents folder.

Since then I have installed a few applications on a different partition, but it is not uncommon for applications to put something in the program files folder anyway Is there a safe and easy way of having "my documents" and or "program files" on a bigger partition? Or would that defeat the whole point of a system partition?

My PC told me there were some updates ready but when I was downloading them I had a power cut....
now it still says there are updates ready but it zips past the download stage (having recognised the files already exist) and goes straight into the installing stage but it always fails.
I suspect my original download has been corrupted by the power cut. I need to know where these downloaded updates get stored, so I can delete the file and start again.
I have a stored email address that is bad, has a comma instead of a
period. It is first in the list when I try to use one of the stored
list. A real pain to have wrong entries or a list that is too long.

In add/remove programs i deleted everything i could but some things couldnt be deleted because the .dll files were missing or something along those lines. please review my hijack this and advise me further. In addition when i go to a website i must enter www or it doesnt connect to the site. on my other computer i can do that. what can i do to fix it??
When I use the Import and Export Menu in I. E. and point to the CD Drive where I have inserted the CD containing Favourites, Windows XP asks me to contact the Administrator. Why can't Windows XP be intelligent enough to verify that I myself am the Administrator and sole User of the Computer, as can be seen from the Users in Control Panel?

This message came up :"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator. DETAIL - An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry." I have then setup up so new accounts but they do not work,A new message appears saying it will now log me onto a Temporay Account.
