May 28, 2014I accidentally u installed killer network manager on my Dell xps with windows 8.1. I lost the wifi driver. How can I recover it?

Nov 7, 2013I uinstalled this program and no cannot connect to the internet. I have tried ipconfig /release and renew. I uinstalled and reinstalled my network adapter and I hard reset my modem back to default out of box. My icon my the time says there's a connection but when I try anything internet wise is says there is none. What to do I dont have any backups yet.. I guess I'll have to wipe it. I downloaded this tool called IP TOOLS from majorgeeks to maybe give some insight...it all looks like a bunch of jibberish to me.

Apr 3, 2013I have an Inspiron 7520 and uninstalled and reinstalled the new version of Dell Backup and Recovery Manager -- upgraded to premium to make sure that I would have full ability to use the program. Note: the old version didn't work at all -- hung up on backup, etc. I have rebooted.
When I try and open the Manager interface, I can't. All I get is the clock logo with the hand spinning. I cannot set the destination. I cannot select what I want to back up. I've tried this several times and just get the spinning clock which I end up ending through Task Manager.
I have tried opening the Manager from the installed link on desktop, from my list of programs, from the Start menu, and from the tray icon. Nothing works.

Jul 17, 2014I have a 20mbps upload with my ISP and I'm getting around 18.5 consistently. I've started using Zoolz for backing up and I have been assured it does not throttle the bandwidth. It reports it is uploading at around 15-16mbps which would be absolutely fine but Task Manager and NetSpeedMonitor show the upload speed as considerably lower.
I've attached a screenshot showing the difference but I was wondering if Task manager and NetSpeedMonitor could be wrong at all? It seemed quite coincidental that the speed reported by Zoolz was roughly what I would expect. Is there any sort of traffic that wouldn't show with Task Manager?

Oct 18, 2013Before updating, a message was shown that updating will not delete any of my information or files but apps will be uninstalled. Upon restarting my laptop, my apps were uninstalled (and I just re-installed them) but my program files were also uninstalled. Yea, I can just install them all again but some program file that were uninstalled were my Microsoft Office that I paid for and the paid software that came preinstalled on my laptop (Like the webcam, movie editor, etc). I really need those software (especially office) but I do not want to pay for them. Would a system restore bring back those files? Is that the only way I can get those programs (and others) back?

Dec 24, 2013Just installed a fresh copy of windows 8.1 Pro. Faster, smoother more practical. However, i just made a new account (microsoft) and i installed this one app. I did not like it very much so I uninstalled. However, when i log in at my market and browse to my apps, under the Apps installed in device Sotxxxxx it shows that very app there, saying at the bottom "Not installed". What can i do? This app is also shown under Apps not installed in this device. I was thinking about deleting the current account, as i use different e-mail provider and create it again with same username.

Security :: Can't Install Until F-Secure Is Uninstalled
May 28, 2014Installation of 8.1 won't proceed until I uninstall F-Secure 2010-2011 (v10.*). I could not find F-Secure, so I downloaded the Uninstaller, ran it, and restarted my computer. For some reason, the message keeps popping up and I still cannot install 8.1.

Jul 31, 2014I have windows 8.1 installed on my Dell Inspiron 15 7537 and use a TP-link TD-W8960N modem. Every once in a while (once or twice a day, sometimes more) the laptop would lose connection with the router. When I click on the network icon down at the bottom right hand corner of the screen to try and reconnect, my network would not be there.
This is what the network pop-up looks like when I'm connected. When the laptop drops out, then my network is not shown, only my neighbours one (westham).
When the computer (I have tested 2 different modems and continue to get drop outs so it's definitely the computer) loses connection, I then click troubleshoot and I see that it "resets network adapter" and then my wifi is somehow found again and it automatically reconnects. Sometimes this troubleshooting does not work though.
Now before you tell me to check if I have the latest driver installed, I have checked several times with the dell website and it IS up to date.

Aug 16, 2014My main problem is that I accidentally uninstalled MS Office earlier today from my Dell Inspiron which I bought in 2012; the second problem is that I can't do a system restore to get it back to the point before the accidental un-installation. I'm on Windows 8. It keeps telling me there's something wrong but when I run a check on the C: drive, everything comes up fine. I opened the computer in safe mode, do a system restore and same thing happens - error.
I don't know if I can locate the original MS Office card that I received when I got the computer, to re-install the program, which is why I'm in a bit of a panic right now.

Nov 3, 2013I added some apps from the Store to my initial Owner/Admin account on Win 8.1. Today, I wanted to have them show on the account that will be used for everyday non-admin stuff. I logged into Microsoft with this account and attempted to add them to show on this account (after temporarily promoting account to Admin). Store said it was "already installed." So....I logged back into initial owner/admin account, and used the "uninstall" (not just unpin) option on the bottom of the Start Screen, thinking that I couldn't have them on two accounts so I'll get rid of them on one account. But...when I went back to install the apps on the new account from the Store, I get the same message. I looked for the apps via Control Panel, but nothing shows.
How can I get these apps to install/reinstall when they think they're already there? Are they on my machine where I can actually see/remove/use them? Where are they hiding?

I've just realized that when I open CCleaner, I still see a 'Firefox' section at the left sidebar of the app, and there's a Firefox tab (containing some entries) in the Startup list, though the Firefox itself had already been removed.
I try to clean registry using Wise, and re-install CCleaner, but those things still exist.
How can I remove them?

Unable To Connect Two Windows 8 Laptops (dell And Asus) To Home Network
Sep 11, 2014I have been unable to connect two windows 8 laptops (dell and asus) to my home network (and internet). At the same time I have connected 2 xp laptops and 3 kindles with no problems. My security consists of using mac addresses only and all other security is turned off.
The offending laptops will also only show the 5gz and not the 2.4gz in available networks (one laptop is brand new and the other is about 1.5 years old). I have also disabled all security on one of the laptops to see if that was the problem (it was not). When trying to connect I have two basic reactions. The first is that its taking too long (cannot connect) and the other is that there is limited connectivity. In addition to that I am sometimes told that the ip address is not right (malformed, I think).
I got the mac addresses, of the offending laptops, by the standard cmd/ipconfig /all path and choose the wireless wi ip but have also tried the other wireless as well with no better results (just making sure)
I also have an edimax extender plugged in and it works. The laptops also show fewer network connections than my asus 1000ha w/d-link dongle. My own laptop, incidentally, is clicked into the 5gz network connection directly from the router (edimax kinda redundant <g>)
I posted this in windows 8 topics as I think this is probably a windows 8 problem given the ability to connect other machines with no problem.
The router is a netgear wndr3400 and is working just fine for all but the windows 8 machine.

Mar 7, 2014I have a Dell Inspiron 530 and I cannot get WOL to work.
I have installed a new TP-LINK TG-3468 Network Card, which supports WOL.
Remote Wake Up is enabled in the BIOS, as are the usual required settings on the Network Card properties.
However whenever I hibernate, sleep, or shutdown my PC, the lights switch off on the Network Card so it is no longer receiving a connection.
Running Windows 8.1 - have also disabled Fast Startup .

But localhost is still resolving 127.0.0.1
I am not using a proxy. I had McAfee (Firewall, antivirus) but I uninstalled it.
I don't have any program like box.com / dropbox, IIS, Apache installed yet.
I tried to temporary disable some service but without success.
My Laptop is a Dell Inspiron by the way.

And via windows startup options.
And thats all just make the boot manager go faster not remove it. It just change the 30 sec to 0/3sec.

Sep 28, 2013I just got a new laptop with an i7-4700mq in it.. 4th gen Intels.. what does task manager performance tab show? Mine shows the processor at 1% usage, but the speed up at 3.2 GHz which is turbo boost speed I think..
See attached picture for what I mean. I just remember my previous laptop (i7-740qm) would show it throttling right down to less than 1GHz when nothing was happening. I have the latest drivers.
